Thanks Oneputt. Yep life is all about doing what you can etc etc.

Happy birthday to the grandtwins. Hope you jelly and ice cream - probably not health these days 😉. I so envy you sharing their day. That said we had 4th birthday earlier this year with our eldest, but won't with youngest, 2 on 26th well not physically 😢.

Where do the years go? My baby will be 30 very soon. DIL to be has asked to share it with us too, we're all going to camp together for the weekend as his birthday is a Sunday 😃. A new experience for our son 😂😂 and years since she has. We have the motorhome 😃😆. Well be on one pitch and we'll have a few days either side. She'll reach the same milestone in August during harvest, bad planning 😂, so they'll holiday in September and we get to dog sit 😃.

KjellNN fingers crossed. It is difficult when others are all available as there's comparisons made etc. We are totally fed up with estate agents cards through the door,  estate agents letters saying we've sold and are looking for more for waiting buyers, plus individuals dropping in requests 😆. Frightened to leave the house for more than a few hours 😉😂

Yes, EasyT. I have difficulty in understanding that too! It's as though there are grandparents on here who seem to expect the CM to control them as though they are a classful of naughty children! Can't people who are in their sixties and seventies i.e. senior citizens, be given some credit for having some knowledge and wisdom of life?

We are on the IOW at the moment, at Waverley Park in East Cowes. Wonderful views out over the Solent. Only problem is the big steep hill back up to the site if we decide to go anywhere on foot!!!

We went ot IOW 6 years ago and really enjoyed it and there were a lot of things we didn't get to see so we thought we would give it another try. Last time we were there we stayed at The Orchards but to be honest we werent too keen on the site so we are trying The club site Southlands

Funnily enough went by the Orchards on the bus yesterday. We did stay there many years ago but access to it was not great. We have also stayed at Southlands which is very nice site but with the motorhome a bit more restrictive. From that point of view Waverley is ideal with easy access to the bus network.

When we stayed at The Orchards we didn't like the pitch it was on a VERY steep hill meaning we had to use quite a few bricks to get the van level. Also we felt the pitches were very close together. We have a caravan now rather than the motorhome so though it would be good to give Southlands a try it was actually thanks to you David because I read one of the reviews on your site relating to Southlands and so decide to try it. cool

Moved onto St Jean de Monts today, nice quiet site just north of the town. After yesterdays rain today is a little better, clouds but blue sky showing through at times. Still warm, not been cold once since arriving from ferry, most days spent in shorts/crops and T shirts, my kind of holiday.

Not been to this part of the coast before so looking forward to exploring on the bikes. Site has cabins on but not busy just now, pitches are a good size and free draining grass/sand. About a dozen vans but spread out, we have a whole row to ourselvessmile

Swimming pool looks nice so will try that out tomorrow if its sunny.

Local TV has shown problem spots on Dartmoor, sad to hear about more, the appeal has gone out for people to take litter home etc. The ponies are vulnerable to problems from the contents of litter, plastic and broken glass.

Just sitting here with visiting terrier, the sun has gone in but still warm.

IOW sounds good, we like to go every now and again. Will try a CL we spotted next time. I love visiting the botanical gardens, entry is free and the car park fees are reasonable. If the weather is good at this time of the year the Australian gardens have a wonderful smell as you walk around. smile

Sorry to hear about your Mum's skin problems Bakers2.  I do hope it can be resolved fairly easily for her.  Not easy to cope with at any age but especially in the elderly. I had a skin cancer just over 5 yeas ago and I was very lucky in that they got rid of it all first time.  I am now very careful in the sun but I have a feeling that the damage was done years ago.

I hope you have enjoyed the grand twins birthdays today OP.  It is frightening how quickly the years go by isn't it.  I presume they will be starting school in September?

The weather is cloudy and distinctly cool today.  We went to Horsey Wind Pump and went on an excellent wildlife boat trip.  The guy's eyesight without his binoculars was amazing as was his knowledge.  We managed see a food swap in the air from the male marsh harrier to the female - wonderful.  We also got a very good close up view of the male later- what a handsome bird. We also saw a heron, lots of black headed gulls, swifts and various other species to numerous to mention. But no cranes unfortunately OP. The guy said that they are nesting at the moment so likely to be flying. We had a look in the mill but you can only get in the ground floor at the moment.  They plan to have it fully open by next year.

Tammy - Try seeing the passage de Gois which runs from the mainland to Ile de Nourmoutier. You may not want to actually use it as it's a cobbled access route only usuable at low tide but the French locals are often to be seen on the sands picking mussels and oysters for free. Sometimes the tourists who venture out with their vehicles get stuck but don't worry as there are poles to climb to escape the rising tide.smile Coaches etc. have become stuck and the warnings at each end of "Warning - Death by drowning" keep you on your toes!

It can be seen from both the island and the mainland. The island is not as interesting as Re but the town itself is nice and there is good cycling to be had.

Left Bavaria today and now near the Rhine. Loads of roadworks on the A3 and it took us nearly 4 hours to travel 140 miles on it.

Really enjoyed last site we were on, about 8 miles off A3 not far from Wurzburg. Excellent site for vans and motorhomes. Campingplatz Ankergrund in Volkach. Will send a report in to the foreign guide people but it is highly recommended.

That's bad to hear about Haytor, we know it well, been to a couple of Tour of Britain finishes there. It's a favourite spot for the quarter mile brigade.......park up, eat in car or just outside, often a BBQ, and of course the 200 metre dog stroll that is all a lot can manage. Sadly Dartmoor has a lot of spots like this, same as other National Parks. Out to admire countryside, then too much trouble to take litter and worse homefrown

Did you climb up to the old tramway DD? Some great early industrial Heritage around there. Hound Tor village is very interesting.

Just enjoyed reading about everyone's day and adventures smile cheered me up as I've had a stressful afternoon a work, still catching up and lots of problems to sort.frown came home late and was feeling tired and a bit fed up.

Met a friend who told me she has breast cancer and is awaiting results to see if it has spread. Keeping everything crossed  for her.

At least the sun has made an appearance tonight now, it's been a rather dull day here.

Oh helenandtrevor what an end to lovely holiday 😔. Catching up at work is always awful but your friends news doesn't help 😢. Glad CT has helped a bit.

Milliehull thanks for your good wishes for my mum. Glad yours sorted ok. Yes the damage is done years and years ago. Being a Strawberry blonde with fair skin doesn't help, as I kept telling my daughter in nz 😤. It sounds like you had a lovely day out.

Been very grey and chilly compared to lately. In fact had some sort of mizzle/drizzle but not enough to wet the concrete. Now clear blue but has looked threatening on and off since 4pm. Got the hose on transplanted plants we are that desperate for rain here. Watching the forecast it's borderline whether we get any on Thursday 😲.  Good overnight dousing would be lovely 😉

They are lovely this year TDA, can't remember them looking so good. We are having to water every day, the forecast rain is just patchy.

Fingers crossed for your friend Helen. Hope things settle at work, always so much to sort when you get back, nearly always worse after a really good break!

Great day with the grandtwins, didn’t get jelly and ice cream but strawberries 🍓and home made and decorated birthday cake.  They start school in September and fortunately only have to walk a couple of hundred yards down the lane to get there.  Tried some of the gin that our daughter made on her visit to Adnams distillery.  It was pretty good but didn’t come up to the standards of their beer 🍺

St Jean de Monts had an excess of sleeping policemen along the corniche as I recall. Real pain when towing. Seemed to encounter quite a few today moving from Concarneau to Carnac and we were diverted down some "interesting roads" due to road works.

Thanks for the info WN, as it happens we stayed on Normoutier 4 years ago, we didn't try that road but used the new onewink we preferred it to Oleron but in September it was bad for mozzies.

Will check on the market MH, I'm not a fan of them but OH loves markets.

Cyber, enjoy Carnac I have mixed feelings about there, as it was there I fell of my bike last year and hurt my left knee. Watch out the roads have a habit of jumping up in front of you laughing

Had a lovely evening with my daughter last night, we went to our local cinema to watch the live screening of The Royal Operas Houses new production of Swan Lake. With a Cinewolrd card tickets were just £9 for 3 hours great entertainment.

We've got up to a lovely sunny morning here at Northbrook Farm CMC site. I'm glad to know that you'll be visiting this site Mr. Route and hope you have an enjoyable stay here. We'll be away for two days from tomorrow, as we will have had our maximum 21 nights. So we'll be taking the awning down today and getting packed up and ready for tomorrows departure. We're booked to stay two nights at Littlehampton CMC site so we'll be able to enjoy a full facility site for a change!

I checked my bank account this morning and was pleased to see my State Pension was paid to me today. It seems my financial strategy is working well, having paid for things using interest free credit at yesterdays lower price and now paying for it from todays increased income, thereby getting value for money! Today, I paid off the remaining balance on my Tesco Credit card which is now debt free! I've also been reducing the balances on my other two credit cards all of which balances are still within the promotional interest free period. My plan is to pay them all off before the promotional interest free period expires and I have plenty of time left to do that. If I don't, they will start charging interest and if that happens, it won't be such a good deal!

I checked my Experian Credit report which is showing an increased credit score. It was already excellent but has now gone to a higher level of excellence. It gave the reason for this as my score having gone up 17  points because of using less of my available credit.

Today I'll be going to the bank to pay in all the cash paid to me in drop money and tips over the last few days and looking forward to seeing the new figures of fund boosting to my account!

Life is good! Long may it continue like this!

So plenty of funds freed uo on my Tesco Credit card in readiness for the coming winter bills. In November I will need to complete the booking form for next years seasonal pitches, summer in Northbrook Farm CMC site and winter in Gatwick CMC site.

I also am struggling with the subtleties. Is it content. If so there is an awful lot of repetitive stuff on this thread, about which I have no complaints. Is it number of posts, some post a lot, others less so, as with any conversation amongst a group. Where it does differ from a group, is that other members don't have to be present. So if you are posting replies in the early hours, you will tend to dominate. Unfortunately as most HO advice given reads like a statement from an MP and never really answers the question, I will have to remain confused.
