Its been another lovely day here. We decided to come away in the van so we arrived on site juat after5 and managed to get a pitch in the sun. We are just sitting outside the van with a drink but will be heading back in to the van soon as the sun is just going behind the trees

Another lovely day in the Dales, Aisgarth falls folowed by the best toasted tea cakes with butter and local raspberry jam with a large pot of tea
On to Leyburn and its market, journey back to site spoilt by some it seems brain dead motor cyclists passing us at speed on blind bends,at one point causing the local "little white bus"to swerve to avoid one

Yesterday was a good day, nice drive down to Keysersberg, parked up for a walk around, spot of lunch then drive very short distance to Turckheim. Site not closed over lunch so didn't have to wait around, straight in and parked up next to the little river that runs through the site, 2€ extra for a comfort pitch but hey as the price is only 15€ for a normal pitch why not. Sun was out all afternoon and quite warm too. Dinner on BBQ and sat outside to eat, lovely.
Today is not a good day as I woke up early thinking 'where did we put the battery charges for the bike batteries' answer, we didn't, they are still at home
so most of the day has been spent arranging for my sister to go out to our house, retrieve 1 of the charges and arrange for a collection and delivery to us for next week. No problem all arranged by 12.00 UK time. Problem is it has still not been collected yet and its supposed to be delivered in 1- 3 days.
Site here is very busy today as its a holiday on Monday, lots of Germans, Swiss and Luxembourg on site, just a few brits.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

A long day, but very enjoyable. Had a 3 hour leisurely cycle around part of Lake Chiemsee this morning, with the local nature keeping us on our toes. The sun was playing hide and seek but came out in the afternoon so after eating this evening we went for a walk and just got back from a 2 hour stroll down to a lovely little Nature reserve set amongst the meadows behind the campsite and managed to hear 2 Corncrakes calling.
The weather now much improved from a couple of days ago and more cycling forecast for tomorrow on the other side of the lake.
People who have been to Fussen to see King Ludwigs castle might not know about another of his creations that he had built in the middle of Lake Chiemsee on Herreninsel, in his normal understated way
, and you can catch a local boat out to it to view. Just passing info in case people are unaware of it.

A day of rest, after a week of helping DD declutter and clean her house to put it up for sale. Photographer and surveyor came yesterday, so should be on the market on Monday or Tuesday. Now she just needs to keep it in pristine condition for the next few weeks!
Another lovely sunny day here, that must be at least 4 days in a row, very warm too. OH was out for shopping and I did some tidying and woodturning.
DD and her husband are coming up tomorrow pm to visit their budgies, who have taken over our sun room.
Will be very glad when their house is sold and the budgies can return home!

You think that's hard? My OH complains if mine goes off to advise of an arriving Email and I haven't even looked at it.

I found that as well David. I wonder if it's anything to do with these new data rules. They write and ask you to agree to continuing to receive updates and the next thing you know you have alerts every half hour!!!

Haven't been up to much this week, but today as weather was great, and didn't fancy sitting inside watching the wedding, we took a trip to Baddersley Clinton NT. I'd downloaded a walk and we took a picnic, as the dog wasn't allowed in the gardens to get to the tea rooms.
Lovely 5 mile walk through the estate and along the Grand Union canal, nice pub three quarters of the way round.
Enjoyed a nice pint of Timothy Taylors.
Lots of ducklings and some swans and signet, also a first we saw three young moles, above ground, so cute, took some photos and have posted a couple on the what have you seen thread, but will put one here too!

I Should have taken, and posted a picture of the beer, instead of the Mole.

Lovely day in the Black Forest, not a wedding 🎩 programme in sight🥂. Went to a couple of picturesque village and wandered around some of the wooded hillsides. Watch Adult Dippers trying to coax their youngsters into the waters. Picnic by a river so just a perfect sort of day. Good spot H&T and what good taste you have WN.🍺

Two lovely sunny warm day in Sutherland.
Yesterday was walks around Golspie...The Big Burn followed by one along the shore past the golf course.
Today we walked from the site along the shore to the little airfield outside of Dornoch and then through the sand dune and back through the town. Back early afternoon so after a sit out in the sun reading ( no Royal Wedding for us) another couple of mile walk through the woods by the site.

Site filled up yesterday as it’s a public holiday ‘over this bit of here’. As we arrived back at site about 15 Dutch MHomers arrived, couldn’t work out if they were a convey or just coincidence. Had a little thunderstorm yesterday evening although no rain to speak of.
Son off to Japan for yet another 5 day business trip, not sure if he will catch the cherry blossom.

We took our first caravan to France shortly after we bought it. We were also seasoned campers abroad. I think it's very much up to the confidence of the individual. The only thing I would say is that if you have bought a caravan for The first time, it is useful if you make your first trip close to home. It will get you used to towing it and, if you have forgotten anything you can always pop back for it.

Good for them, life is for living, tomorrow is not promised, as has been previously been posted we must make the most of life while we have the health to do it.
Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today, because if you enjoyed it you can do it again tomorrow..

I suppose you could argue that the best thing to do immediately after passing your driving test is to set off on a journey of 200 miles of mixed motoring as it would give you a lot of confidence!
However if you are new to towing (which might not be the case with the couple in question as they may have towed a trailer) there is lots to learn and some prior knowledge would be a good idea. I suppose we can all travel in ignorance and most of the time we will survived unscathed. The problem is if that ignorance proves to be critical in not foreseeing problems that bite us in the bum it could put them off for life?

Newbies are often advised to stay fairly close to home for their first outing or two but "a couple of years" - I can’t recall seeing that advice! Wow!

No me neither, and I would only give stay close to home/ dealer advice so it could be quickly returned if problems arise after driving off forecourt, or if you might forget something. It's a state of mind, some prefer caution, some prefer just get on and go. Down to the individual and what they want to do.

I'm glad we decided not to take our first ever van to France Immediately. Although I would have been happy to, we had towed a trailer and tented abroad for years. We decided to get used to it in the UK during the first year. Given several serious problems developed during that year, and had to be sorted, it was a good decision.

We spent a very pleasant couple of hours strolling around the Bowood Woodland Walk this morning. It's renowned for its spectacular display of rhododendrons and they'really certainly giving a fantastic display at the moment. In the BBC Gardener's World 2 for 1 offer as well so great value!
