I hadn't realised it has stretched as far as Peterborough. As to why I don't think it has been explained but for those of us on the western edge of the region going to Norwich half way through the programme was not of a lot of use as there is so much going on over here a full programme is justified. What we miss of course is some of the humour created by Mike Liggins and Colin Birch but a lot of that was fluff. They have certainly beefed up the Cambridge team. Initially I thought they did it when we had the political broadcasts which shortened the time they had available but its carried on since.

Just finished the Pre-loading ready for a trip Darn Sarf (ish) to Cirencester then Trewethett Farm for 12 nights in the Hope of getting three steam shows in
. Sterilised water, iron mongery various plus all clothing sorted. Now in the morning it'll be just a case of loading the fresh & frozen food, swift (
ha bloomin' ha ) visit to pick up latest prescription followed by a gentle drive down M6, M42, M5 and then lo & behold the pothole capital of the world !! { That's the colleges access drive to Cirencester Park. One thing is certain there will be no 'vans speeding down that !! }Hoping against Hope that on my return
1 ] All Saturdays Telly watchers will be saying what a GREAT TIME they have had .
2] All those waiting for Appointments { Medical } Various will have found urgent letters pushing them to the head of the queue.
3] Fellow CC Members away on site have had as good a time as I have.
4] Those of you who are not away can keep this site fizzing along happily

Thunderstorm last night and more rain until mid day today then lovely this afternoon and evening. Walked into Obernai this afternoon, nice old town. Off to Turckheim in the morning stopping off at a few villages on the way.
WN, thanks for the suggestion of Black Forrest, its on and off the cards at the mo. Last visit there was back in the 80's with 2 boys in tow.

Decided to go to Trier today, got there and sat in traffic for 25 minutes before escaping and returning to Bitburg. Had a walk along the river and through the woods. Returned to Trier this evening and saw most of the Roman sights before rain ended play. Tomorrow, our last day here will be to Luxembourg 🇱🇺 and all that lovely cheap diesel 😊

We like it too, brue, it's our third visit in as many years.
Drove over to Portmahomock this morning in lovely sunny weather. Flyte had a run on the beach and in the tide before we headed up to Tarbet Ness and walked round by the lighthouse. Called in at Tain for fuel & provisions at Asda & Lidl. Chill wind blowing when we got back to our CL.

Which CL are you stopping on brue? We use Manor Farm at Kings Repton, Huntingdon. Can recommend it if you've not already booked a CL.

Hope you enjoy it brue. We love the area. So many great walks in lovely countryside. Wish we were still there although it is grey with a very cold wind today.

Lovely day today. The afternoon tea at The Haycock Hotel was lovely. Such great service. A few tears as my friend understandably wanted to talk about her much loved grand-daughter but also a lot of laughs and lovely memories of when we were all young and first married in the 60s and 70s. OH and I have then been to a live screening of An American in Paris at our local theatre this evening. Absolutely wonderful. We are so lucky to have the opportunity to see such a fabulous show locally and for only £10 each!!
A very cold, grey and windy day here today. My winter jumpers came out again. 😩

Millie, that was good to hear that your get together went well, your friend must be so comforted to have companionship and shared memories.
I have missed the American in Paris screening, it was on locally here. I hope we might be able to see a repeat screening although it won't be the same as seeing it broadcast live on the night. I'm sorry we've missed it but fingers crossed it will be back.
I am having a strange week I can't be out in the light, even low light due to the side effects of the medication I'm having, I didn't quite believe it at first and swiftly ended up with sunburn. So here I am behind closed curtains with the sun shining outside, roll on the end of this treatment!

Another sunny day now, but it was cold overnight and the doggy walking field was white over with frost earlier,
Did the wensleydale cheese factory yesterday did not need lunch as the samples were more than enough
Off to Hardraw force and a meal at the pub followed by a visit to some local sheep dog demonstrations

Gosh brue your treatment sounds awful! I have never heard of those side effects before. I hope it works and that you soon feel better.
JVB. Enjoy the walk across the fields to Hardraw Force and your lunch in the pub. OH's father used to live in the area and it was one of our favourite trips out when we went to stay with him.

Yes, it's horrible Millie, so I hope it works. If I'd known the effects, which only the pharmacy told me about, I might have been a bit more wary.
JVB, it's lovely at Hardraw Force, we walked across the fields from Hawes to the Green Dragon, then paid our entrance fees to see the waterfall, nice day out.

David. I emailed BBC Look East and this is their reply:
I’m afraid you won’t be seeing Susie and Stewart again. They are quite well, but we have split the Look East programme entirely now east and west so Janine will be presenting it all. This is to provide a better, more local service to both sides of the region. This seems particularly important over here, where we have some of the fastest growing communities in the entire country, including Peterborough. We feel we need to be providing more news for viewers here rather than stories from Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex, though we may still take the occasional feature from that side.
Of course this comes at a cost, and we’ll all miss Stewart and Susie, but ultimately we feel providing a better news service is more important. The East version of Look East will still be available to you, either on Sky, if you have it, or on the BBC IPlayer for 24 hours after transmission each day, but, of course they will be concentrating on their part of the region and won’t cover this side.

I went to the screening of An American in Paris with my daughter last night, £6 each with our Cineworld cards, excellent value.

I think these live screenings are such an excellent idea Whittaker. It has finally been realised that we can't all get to London easily or cheaply to see shows. I think we got a better view on the live screening than those in the theatre probably did.

I remember the cheap fuel in Luxemburg - and especially one crowded petrol station (years ago now) where I had to reverse with the van on the back. Carol got out to watch the caravan at the back. I dutifully followed her instructions until I heard her dulcet tones exclaiming, 'You've hit it!'. If you see a slightly skewiff petrol pump somewhere in Luxemburg......

Had a lovely morning walking around a flower filled meadow that reminded me of my younger days. 2 and a half hours of peaceful bliss. Rain supposed to set in this afternoon but it seems to have missed us.
Not many on site. There used to be quite a lot of Dutch but only 2 of them here this trip. Wonder which cheaper site they've found?
We did buy some local strawberries the other day from the supermarket in the village. We went back yesterday for some more as they were gorgeous, proper strawberries, and they were sold out but fear not as local producer supplied more today. Yum. Can't believe I'm eating fresh local strawberries in mid May and they're tasting so good.

Up date on Hardraw force it was really good and all the bank's were as mass of bluebell, primroses, and numerous other wild flowers,then had a meal in the adjoining very quirky pub,a home made steak and ale pie that was Soo good we will have to go back and try another with diferent filling
This evening we went to the sheep dog demonstration by Richard Fawcett a world sheepdog trialist,a really wonderful couple of hours, had to put Rosa back in the car as although has never shown any real Border Collie traits she really wanted to help the other dogs

Sorry to hear that your medication is causing you problems, Brue. Hope that you get over the effects of it when you've complete the full course.
Sounds as if you had an enjoyable day out yesterday, millie, and that your trip to Hardraw was a success, JVB, it's been a long time since we visited the falls.
We went to Dunrobin Castle today, had a walk then went round the house, followed by a very interesting and informative demonstration by the Falconer. He put a Harris Hawk, a Gyr Falcon and a Peregrine Falcon all through their paces. It was exciting at times with the Peregrine flying over our heads within touching distance.

Thanks for the confirmation and thanks for taking the trouble to find out, I don't remember it being mentioned anywhere on the programme unless I missed it. I know you have reservations but I am totally in favour of the change as we are getting far more news local to us. The programme is a bit more serious now compared to the Norwich version. We used to get fed up with the mention of Newmarket (horses) all the time!!!

Hardraw is spectacular, not seen it with spring flowers though, that would really enhance the setting. Peversly when we visited last July there was more water going over the force than we had ever seen. RF has been doing those demonstrations for a lot of years. We first watched him with our kids when camping in tents at Bainbridge Ings. We've been a few times since, usually seems to be raining when we go.☹️Still worth it though.

When I replied to the email I asked whether it had been mentioned as I thought I might have missed it and was told that they decided not to make an announcement about the change as they saw it as a 'natural progression'. I think it would have been a good idea to let the viewers know what was going to happen as a courtesy. I will see how things go over the next few weeks as I shall miss Susie and Stewart but I do take the point that there is more news that is relevant to our region.

Hope you feel better soon Brue, I've had bad facial pain, with a swollen eye and nose not sure if it was sinus or a reaction to the tablets, so now off medication waiting to see if things die down, and like you another sunny day, sitting inside.

We went to see the latest production of Miss Saigon at Bristol Hippodrome last night. It's one of Mrs M's favourites and we've seen it several times now. It's still a spectacular show and a great evening's entertainment.
But towards the end the performance had to be halted temporarily because of a technical problem with the sound system. Literally within seconds there was a sea of light around us with folk getting out their mobile phones - what is it which makes folk so unable to cope for more than the shortest period of time without reaching for them at the first opportunity? The woman in front of us was so intent on texting that she seemed to miss the fact the show had resumed! She then obviously left it switched on because the second the final curtain came down she was texting again, and didn't stop for even the briefest chance to applaud the cast. It's one of my big bugbears when out at the theatre or cinema. Why do folk do it having paid a pretty hefty amount for their tickets?

Totally agree with you Mousesy. I was at the cinema screening of An American in Paris earlier this week, during the short, 15 minute interval lots of people were on their phones. The woman in front was sending emails, and a woman opposite was playing some sort of game, and neither were of the younger generation who have grown up with mobile phones. I often see families in restaurants with at least half the group tapping away on a phone.
