We are back from a really good week away. I lost the will to live trying to access this forum via my 4G so gave up as I didn't want to use up too much of my data.  Weather started off very warm but cooled down as the week went on.  We had a little rain overnight on Wednesday night and then a downpour Saturday afternoon and evening so decided to spend the evening in the pub laughing. Other than that the weather was great.  We had a wonderful day at Wicken Fen with a boat trip with a very knowledgeable guide and saw a pair of hobbys and a pair of marsh harriers. We also heard the very vocal cuckoos (they have 3 apparently) and also heard the cuckoos whilst on site at Houghton Mill.  Such a lovely sound as it reminds me of my childhood when they were much more prolific. We also went on the guided bus into Cambridge and spent a day at Cambridge Botanic Gardens and also had some great walks by the river and into St. Ives (and backsurprised) - we were told by one of the drivers at St Ives bus station that the buses to Houghton had stopped running but have since found out that a local company has taken over the routeyell. We were only way a week but the garden has gone berserk.

I have caught up with some of the posts but not all.

Glad you had a good 2 weeks away moulesy. It sounds wonderful.

Sorry you still feel so poorly brue.  I hope the antibiotics do the trick soon.

You sound as though you have got off to a good start Tammygirl. Hope you have a good trip.

Your son's photos are absolutely amazing Helen. Your latest trip sounds really good.

I hope everyone else who is away has a good time.

Brue sounds like you're feeling a tad better?

A day of pottering and sorting.  This morning we walked into town OH returned his new glasses whilst i caught up with a friend her daughter and grandson for cuppa. Popped into opticians myself as I passed on the way home to see if my new glasses were in. They were and I was next to be notified so I suspect I would have jusr got indoors when the text arrived, so saved having to go out again. OH having trouble adjusting to his new ones, 10 years since he's had amended the glasses 😤 but prescription has changed slightly each time (one of chains that advertise on tv) so now a large change in prescription. I may have said previously he'd returned those before our NZ trip. Soon after our return from NZ he had retest and new glasses at my opticians - lenses weren't sitting the frame correctly when they first came, amended and retry. He still finds them difficult but they suspect it's the large change so retest and rejig when we come back from our break.

Afternoon spent on household and garden tasks in preparation for being away for a week or so as from tomorrow.  Heading to Ferry Meadows for a couple of nights to catch up with son and girlfriend plus collect grand dog, then on to Lincolnshire. Have to be back to take mum for hospital appointment and son coming down to us including a golf charity tournament then taking grand dog back.  Son on work trip girlfriend on hen do. Be nice to see them, had a few hours with son since our return but not seen his girlfriend since Christmas.

KjellNN good news on your daughters house. Hope the mortgage is sorted quickly. All so 'simple' north of the border compared to south of the border. Once committed everyone knows where they are. A house in our road has had a sold sign up for more than a year but same vehicles are still parked on the drive 😲. Friends sold his late fathers house before Christmas and it's still hanging in there!

Oneputt and Wherenext enjoy over there with or without your preferred tipple 😉.

Got to stop now telephone call to take 😃

It's very handy having those two so close together, JVB. We do the same as you if we're in the area, and a pleasant run thro' to Hawes from there too.

Yes, good news on the house B2, and things do seem a little simpler up here once you get past the "offers over" hurdle.

It seems to be the norm these days to set an offers over price considerably below the Home Report price, not sure why, it makes no sense to me.

The mortgage broker rang this evening with the good news that Halifax are willing to lend the required amount, with no restrictions other than that the mortgage on the current house must be redeemed within 3 months of them moving into the new house, so the current house should be on the market early next week, or sooner.

The photographer is coming on Thursday, and the surveyor should not be far behind, so it will be all hands on deck to get the cleaning finished tomorrow.

We were there yesterday doing stuff, and today we had her husband's mum in cleaning the rooms that had been decluttered. She was lecturing her son afterwards on the  need to be tidier!!

Tomorrow will be the turn of the kitchen and rest of ground floor, plus a redo of a few bits that have already been done, but then used!   How are you supposed to keep the place in showhome condition when you are actually living there?

Our spare room is now full of all the stuff that has been deported, I expect most of it will be here till they actually move.  I will need to see what  to put where so that our caravan stuff can still be reached.

Next task will be to re-arrange our June/July trip so we are home for the packing.

Just having a lazy morning on the campsite. Hand washing of clothes completed and they are now drying on the washing line hung between two trees. surprised

Obviously this is not a Club site but it is one of Deleted User Users favourite sites. We arrived yesterday lunchtime at Camping Las Rosaleda, a few miles East of Cadiz in Southern Spain. Weather is glorious and not too hot.

This afternoon we will venture to one of the nearby beaches for a dip ( possibly chilly?) in the sea.

    It is a hard life!

Millie, glad you enjoyed your week away. Sounded good.

You reminded me of the Cuckoos calling. We've been lucky to see quite a lot of them on this trip and the females call always makes me laugh. That's the one where she sounds like she has hiccups.

About to have an early lunch before heading off to our next site at Bergen, south east of Munich, near Lake Chiemsee.

DK - there is a m/h grid on current site at Straubing but doesn't look easy to access.

Wherenext, found that to be the case on a few German campsites especially if you have a longer van!!!! Good to have the info. Are you going into Austria?

Went to see the specialist physio today about my knees. Lots and lots of questions!!! We did the quiz to work out a pain score. I do try and answer these things honestly and I came out at 34 which seems to be a long way from any sort of surgery, which I suppose is a good thing in lots of ways. The measure seems to not only be based on mobility but also on the amount of pain and whether it keeps you awake at night. He measured the articulation of both knees which were both fine. The dodgy one is still not quite flat against a surface so we may have to work on that. After my arthroscopy, about four years ago, I had to sit with a cushion on the knee topped with heavy books. I knew those F1 year books would come in handy! More exercises from now on the strengthen everything, I have already ordered the ankle weights!!! Although strangely when he did a lower leg strength test to dodgy knee was quite bit stronger than the supposedly good knee that could have been because of the hip replacement I had on the other leg. So you can see I have had an exciting morning.

Woke to the song of a male Black Cap, fantastic.  Went to the village church at Eschfeld, it really is something else.  Pastor Christoph März took 15 years to paint its interior.  As I can’t post photo I will give a link.

Sounds as though they have been very thorough David so I hope all goes well.

I have had to have a repeat antibiotics prescription a real nuisance as I can't be in the sun without the risk of sunburn or as the chemist herself said, heatstroke. I wish the GP had told me this before I started!

Not planned to. We hope to stay in Germany and if the weather is good, to work our way along the Alps on the German side, even getting into the Berchtesgarden range, but if the weather is against us we may end up in Alsace. At present we moved today to Camping Wagnerhof in Bergen near Traunstein. Been here before. We'll do some hill walking and also cycle around the Chiemsee area.

WN, we are in the Alsace at the moment, arrived yesterday at the Municipal at Obernai. Today we went into Strasbourg on the bus, 1 hour ride but it went through some lovely villages that we would not have seen otherwise. The weather was rain yesterday, today started cloudy but turned out  much better, still sat out at 18.30 smile Moving on again on Wednesday probably to Turckheim until after the weekend.

Not sure where we are heading after that, suggestions welcomed wink

Glad to hear everyone is fine and having some good weather.

Another bright sunny morning in the Cairngorms. Packed up and away by 10:00 and a temperature of 20 C. Easy run up to Dornoch, however it had clouded up and cooled down somewhat, but we missed the forecast showers. Both the last CL and this one have been full, no M/H at Bogroy during the 5 days we were there, and only 1 on here tonight.

I'm still waiting to have my knee done.  Seems to be one appointment after another, passing me backwards and forwards for tests.  The latest thing is the diagnosis of mild peripheral neuropathy (slight numbness in the feet).  Next appointment 7th June with the anesthetist - again!

Glad  to  hear  your  back  safely,  Triky  !!  It's  really  no  fun  at  all  having  to  find  out  how  to  stick  ones  head  into  the  engine area  in  order  to  fix  faults.  T'was  much  easier  in  the  days  of  Austin  A35s  and  Morris  Minors  !

I thought initially I was going for a steroid injection but apparently that is now going to be done in June. The physio told me that I would be doing well if I avoided the operation for another five years!!! That is fine by me providing if does not get any worse. Funnily enough it always seems a bit better when we are away in the van, perhaps because of a greater level of activity?

Hope you get it sorted out.

I hope both Davids with knee problems get them sorted out. I had a real problem with one of mine a few months ago but with exercises and pain killers it seems not too bad now.  I think extra activity certainly helps and is something that my GP is keen on.  He said I mustn't be a 'coach potato' and must keep on with my 'normal' life.

I had my normal morning at the Cathedral yesterday.  We had 3 different tours going around at one point - 2 from the local U3A Family History Group and the normal Ad Hoc tour. None of them bumped into each other so it was very well organised.  There was also organ practice so a busy but enjoyable morning.  I am off to have Afternoon Tea at the Haycock Hotel today. A close friend of mine lost her only grand-daughter (and only grandchild) aged 19 to anorexia a few months ago and another friend and I have decided to treat her.  She is being very brave but it must be so very difficult for her.

Hope the three of you enjoy the tea Millie. The work at the cathedral sounds varied and interesting, I expect every session is different. Pleased to hear you enjoyed Houghton Mill again, we are staying over that way later on, a CL this time, we want to do some local walks on a different part of the Ouse.

    Question for Milliehull

    Millie

I assume you get Look East where you live? Don't know if you watch it but has there been any changes in recent weeks? The reason I ask is that we get Look East from the Cambridge Studio and what used to happen is that we would get our news for the first 15 minutes and then cross to Norwich for the rest of the programme. For the last few weeks we have had the entire programme based in Cambridge which I prefer but wondered if anyone had noticed any changes further east?

Day off today, enforced unfortunately as the forecast rain arrived early this morning and will be here most of the day. It is due to improve on Friday and continue for the early part of next week.

Tammy have you thought about heading east through the Black forest, obviously stopping off en route, and ending up at Lake Constance? Good cycling around the lake or so I'm led to believe.

Triky, wow, a bit frightening losing gear selection like that. Good work by RAC, always good to hear about these organisations coming through when needed.

Same here David.  I am disappointed as I like Stuart and Suzie but the entire programme is now from the west of the region.  I wonder why? It will be interesting to see what the programme is like when we are in Norfolk next month.

I reckon it'll be September.  I was put on the list in January and they say within 12 weeks of the pre-op.  That's been and gone ages ago.  I can guess what is going to happen.  An appointment will come through when I am away on holiday and it'll be missed.  Anyway, two more appointments in the post this morning.  Visual field and retina clinic.  Don't know why.  I must have said something to someone about eyes and they've referred me.  I think I'll soon hold the record for the number of appointments before a knee op.  😀😀
