What are you all up to

At last the sun is shining, and more importantly the grass is growing!
So today was our favourite day of the year - turnout. The fences were in place, the right gates closed and the doors opened. Nearly 100 cows came running through the yard on their way to fresh grass. They'll be back in for milking, and for a couple of weeks will stay inside overnight.
I managed to get a few photos and videos, but if you're in our region you can watch some of it (plus an interview with son James) on BBC North West Tonight this evening. Probably cut down to a few minutes.

Oh happy days Goldie 😆😃. Our grass is still quite spongy😲.
Still trying to work out new energy suppliers 😲😲. My head hurts from all the variable suppliers. Even staying with existing supplier complex. I give switch websites my consumption for last year and it brings up, as far as I can see, up to £30 a month less yet the unit cost very similar. Bulb don't accept DD'S, but debit card can anyone confirm? That negates cash back on current account 😲 All that said I am sitting in the sun, maybe my brains fried??

Another glorious day here at Cirencester. But just up the road at Chalfield in the Stroud Valley it was shrouded in thick mist when we went for our walk this morning.
We started out along the Thames & Severn canal. It's not the most attractive stretch of canal I've walked along, running parallel to the main road and railway and bordered by factories and derelict mills for much of the way. But there's quite a bit of a restoration work going on and the wildlife is gradually returning. I saw a couple of herons and even caught a flash of a kingfisher as well as these two non-native Cotswold types.
At the end of the canal there are two lung bursting climbs up to the villages of Thrupp, then down through woods and then another climb to Bussage. Normally, there are superb views back down the valley but today you couldn't see more than a couple of yards because of the mist.
Fortunately, at Bussage the sun broke through just in time to stop at the marvellous Ram Inn for a pint of Tribute and a bowl of water.
Now back on site and it's hot, hot, hot!. Mustn't do too much dozing in this sunshine!

Started out fine today nice and sunny but the clouds are building as I type this.
Went food shopping this morning on my own while OH made a start on checking over the MH, you know oil, windscreen wash etc. Found a rear light out so thought it just a bulb. Nothing is simple is it, no not a bulb one of the connectors has corroded and he has to fit a new one. The only problem the wires are so short he's having trouble with it, he's having to trace it back along van to find a suitable point to fit another connector.
I managed about an hour in the back garden before having to come in and get him something to eat, then empty the washer and hang them out.
Bakers2 really looking forward to Singapore, I've heard so much about it over the years as my sister and her husband lived there from June 1969 - January 71. They stopped off there last year on their way back from Australia, first time they've been back. They loved it so much they are going back for the Singapore Gran Prix this September.
MillieH glad to hear your friend enjoyed her cruise to the same area, hopefully we will too, silly I know but can't stop thinking about it.
All those enjoying the sun and those away this weekend have fun and stay safe.
Bet Malc isn't enjoying this weather

Coffee in St Mawes this morning.

Yes we haven't been to a christening for a few years. It is in the local catholic church so I was surprised it was a Saturday but apparently the priest agreed to the request. I think the parents wanted as Saturday so they could enjoy the celebrations without having to worry about getting up early for work.
hopefully it will be a good day.

I love the picture of the Llamas (or are they alpacas, I get confused
) moulesy. They seem very popular at the moment. I think they get quite a lot of money for their fleeces.
Some very happy looking cows there Goldie.
OH went over to our storage compound this morning to do some jobs on the caravan and has bought a new water filter and a new pump as it was running very slow at the end of last season. He has taken the wheels off and checked the tyres, also the spare tyre. I think all we need to do now is clean it .... did I say 'all'
We had a leaving 'do' at our local Adult Education College this morning for our wonderful Landscape History tutor. He has been tutoring there for 22 years and I have been attending his courses for 18. He started doing these part time courses when he retired from full time teaching and has finally decided that it is time to retire from retirement! So very sad. We have all loved all his classes and learned so much. We shall miss him. Fridays will never be the same for me.

Up early as c/van had to be in for service by 0830, so walkies with Rosa was at 0630 ,which was too early for a romp with her chums (sometimes) and the squirrels were still in bed,so we were back home by 0720 in time for some breakfast before going to storage and get c/van out ,really busy at storage two c/vans on wash area, and another got ready for their trip and it does not open until 0800
Back home by 0920 and even on the short journey (3 mile) trip the difference with this tow car was a vast improvement from the previos
Then off for a walk round our lakes with Rosa followed by drinks and big custard tarts (they arge big)
After that off to Notcutts Garden Centre (with Rosa) as they have 20% off every thing this w/end stocked up with bird food and dog treats
,Dropped OH off in town on way home ,put car away and now having a "Relax" on here until OH gets home,
Then it will be time for walkies again

With uswitch the site compares my present deal and supplier with others so I don't put in consumption details. It compares the kWh costs (I'm looking at fixed dual fuel) and then I check if there are any pitfalls like the cost of leaving early or non fixed rates etc.

B2 I’m changing to Bulb and I’ve submitted account etc for direct debit.
Early alarm call this morning when a Great Spotted Woodpecker started drumming right outside the bedroom window.
Took myself off to Old Winchester Iron Age Hill Fort before picking up Mrs One from the train station.
The museum and poppy shower were really good and worth the £3 parking charges.
Weather has been fantastic at a balmy 24C. Loads of sunscreen applied🌞🌞🤠

Just back in for a cuppa and sit down.
Went for a bike ride only did 5mls as the wind was very strong, sun still out on our return so decided to cut the grass front and back. Looking much better for it but I didn't think it really needed it, just goes to show.
Still got a couple of bushes that need sorting and a few heather's that need a trim. They will have to come out later in the year when I have more time and have thought of what to replace them with, something that doesn't need trimming I think. I've also got an old Hebe that needs lifting but that will have to wait until OH has full use of his arm as they are terrible for digging out.
I think we only have 1 more day of dry weather then we will be back to rain on Sunday so the forecast says
still I've got some sewing to do so that will keep me out of trouble.

Sitting outside the caravan with a glass of wine
Been a beautiful day, spent most of it exploring the parkland at Brockhampton. We did venture into Bromyard this morning, lovely little town lots of independent shops which makes a very pleasant change.
It seems like lots of you are out and about in the sunshine, have just enjoyed catching up, nice photos too.

Mine's still in the back of our car, if I take it out I'll most likely forget to put it back for next winter.

Dull and somewhat misty this morning when we got up. By the time we'd packed up the sky was breaking up and there were a few patches of blue. Sun broke through after we'd crossed over into Scotland and we had a fine warm sunny afternoon. We've found another fine CL, with extensive views over Dumfries to Criffel and it's own 1/2 ml dog walk, which is ideal for us. Speaking to the owners there appears to be lots of new places for us to visitlocally, although we've stayed in the area a few times in the past.

Another lovely sunny afternoon here.
I took the dog on a long walk in some beautiful local countryside past some reservoirs like this.

Well that's me wide awake for a bit. Smoke alarm in our bedroom went off. 😫 Not just a blip, properly, flashing light and siren. It stopped of its own accord, before I could silence it, and fortunately no fire. I have checked everywhere and no sign or smell of any smoke. Even outside, as I thought some might have drifted through the open window. There are three other detectors in the house and nothing from those, so now just a case of waiting for heart rate to lower so I can get back to sleep. OH seems to be able to manage it easily. 😴 A similar version in the hall can be set off even when you can't smell burning toast, so I suppose it could have been a whiff of something from outside.🤔 However, I think it's just about at the 10 year replacement recommendation, so I think at trip to B&Q may be called for, sooner rather than later. So far silence.🤞

Yes thank you, had a bit of a lie in this morning and now just about recovered. At least I know my reactions are OK, I was out of bed like a jack in the box. Probably unwise, as if there had of been smoke I would have been better keeping close to the floor. Difficult to remember though when you get shocked from your slumber.😀
Breakfast and a read of my paper, then we have some gardening planned. We are not supposed to get any thunderstorms ⛈ until this evening here, so should get plenty done.

If you had the window open it might have been the cause. When we arrive on site and park up with the habitation door open and I then open the cab door the smoke alarm often goes off as the air rushes through.
I was woken up at 6.00am this morning by a car alarm going off, the inner Victor Meldrew didn't quite surface as I was too tired!!!

B2, we saw the poppies at Shoeburyness about this time last year.
1 -
Is it the same ones we saw at Lincoln Castle in June 2016? They are certainly getting around. It must be quite a task transporting them.

We saw the poppies at Balhousie Castle, the home of the Black Watch museum in Perth. Then again in September last year we saw them at Plymouth Sound on the Hoe just before we went down to the port to sail to Roscoff. They are very impressive wherever you manage to see them.
Sunny start to the morning so not going to sit around for any longer as I believe we are to get rain tomorrow so want to get more done in the garden.

We are decorating our living room at the moment. We cleared it out during the week (the plan is that only half the stuff goes back in
), Ceiling and coving painted yesterday, walls today. I have cleaned all the window frames and windows inside and out and washed all the curtains. The gloss will then be done.

The sun is still shining so it's onwards and upwards with Spring work. Son slurry spreading and husband rolling. Then maybe levelling.
They finished at 8 o'clock last night, but will have to be sooner tonight as we're going to a pre-retirement party for a former colleague. It's meant to be mainly outside, but we are advised to take several layers. It will be good to catch up with friends I worked with until I retired 7 years ago. Will I remember them all? Will they remember me!
