I sometimes wonder if the one way system which compels drivers to do a complete lap of the site contributes to the problem. Being a matter of meters from the site exit yet having to take a quarter mile detour must be frustrating.

We were once told off for cycling 25 m 'the wrong way' at Sandringham site instead of going all the way around the one way system!
If we had followed the "Rules" and gone around the one way system, we would have then had to dismount when we came to the downhill section as the sign stated.

How many people have "trains to catch" for goodness sake? I don't see any excuse for speeding on site and the speed limit should be enforced. As a Solo caravanner I often use my Mmover but definitely use it on tight pitches to make sure I don't drive on the grass - which has been so incredibly wet for the last few months.

Unless you have eyes in the back of your head, I would suggest riding a cycle where you can see the traffic in front of you is always safer than traffic behind you.
When walking along a country lane with no footway which side of the road is the generally accepted side to walk?
As there were no bushes/ caravans etc obstructing our view of any cars approaching why wouldn't I take the shortest route? -

It is all now in the past DD and no longer applies.
I am now a member of t'other Club and honestly do not know what the rules are. I'm afraid I'm a great believer in the rule of commonsense

Five minutes later said caravan rig had completed a lap and stopped just in front and said they had chosen that (our) pitch and would we move.

Which left you with two options DD.
1 -You could have moved ----- OR ----
2- You could have told them to go away ( Or words to that effect )

In all but 1 of our visits to Baltic Wharf we have arrived to find a folder pinned to the notice board with our pitch details on it. Works very well and causes no hold ups, no unnecessary circling of the site. Us new family adventurers the CAMC wish to attract don't have the facility to arrive at the witching hour and join the nonsense of fighting for pitches that seasoned members appear to be vital to their holiday.
On the 1 occasion, we were proffered a premarked site map with the pitches available to take account of the length of our caravan. Worked well and we were able to drive to the pitch without circling.
This last visit at Easter saw us pitched in the 'normal' MH row with a lovely view of Clifton and the bridge buttress as we ate dinner with the sun setting.
I like the opportunity on exit to drive at crawling speed, auto box in D 4-5mph and adjust the towing mirrors for the journey onward, particularly the nearside one.
The MHSP is determined by the limits of the site. Its also in the arrivals lane which can block access for long tow car/caravan combinations. I dread to think the carnage ensuing if the witching hour were to see hoards of arrivals on the dot.
Lovely place to have had some breaks regardless of the roolz and behaviours peculiar to the CAMC

I also think part of the problem is the fact that laps are required. People are afraid of loosing a good pitch.
Some folk certainly seem to need a few laps, perhaps they are just fussy. I can't remember the last time we did a lap. We are only stopping for a week, so a levelish pitch cross wise with open aspect to the south east will do it.
I do find it surprising that on a Friday afternoon you will often see a van orbit 2 or 3 times before settling and they manage to launch the van on the speed bump every time.🤔
