Speeding on site

yes, i agree David, when hunting the 'best pitch' you can improve your lap times with a few extra circuits
much prefer the 'walking the course' approach

As what was said earlier i would have my phone with me and wait for him/her to go out then video them, then show it to the warden. If he or she did nothing then email HQ with the video attached and the responce from the warden.
By the way what site are you on.

I'd bet the staff are doing all they can, road signage, speed bumps, posters, high five campaign, reminding and making speeders aware when noticed. It really is up to us to keep our speed right. Perpetual speeders who take no notice, do nothing about it when spoken too care not a jot and should be removed from site in my opinion.
By the way, I was in a traffic queue yesterday and the whole line of vehicles travelled some few hundred yards at approximately 5mph or possibly less, it can be done!

wow, that was a tricky one, JVB...

I guess the real problem here is that we go to sites to relax and put those everyday potential dangers to the back of our minds, afterall we are on holiday. Speeding vehicles do not help remove those possible dangers or our concerns one jot. In fact they may increase the angst and danger as we all become more relaxed as we start to enjoy our leisure time.
Just do as requested and everyone will be safer and happy. Problem is it's just that some don't care one bit about others!

You've obviously not read Jimbo's post properly.JVB66 --- Like the bit where he was stood talking to the warden when the speeding took place. If he saw the speeding, the warden must have seen it as well. Hence the questions as to what course of action the warden took. .
It's quite straightforward - no need for you to be discourteous.

Am I correct in thinking there was a death, a child, at Rowntree Park in the last few years? Vehicles today, on site and on the roads imitate life in your lounge where you are safe warm cosy and protected, sadly the human body is very soft and vulerable 😢.
Well said Nellie.

There have been two deaths of young children. I think both on cycles. that I am aware of and neither can be blamed on the drivers nor their speed. One child cycled from the side between a car and caravan that it was towing. The other ran into the side of a caravan or motorhome and suffered a ruptured spleen and died I believe.

Maybe the warden wasn't a rugby player, or he didn't have a pen handy, or maybe his name was nelson
OP why don't you share with us what site you have a seasonal pitch on? I'd be interested to know as if it was in my area (south west) I stay on most sites on my rest days. I like to be on "the other side" to get a perspective of things. Be interesting to see any cars doing 25mph, I'd have a word as a fellow member.

Sites are usually full of children, on holiday, enjoying themselves, the rules parents have taught them regarding roads are often far from their thoughts on a holiday site. Maybe there are few accidents because there are speed limits to prevent them. I would rather people made mountains out of mole hills than risk injuring one child.

"you can't argue".......
i bet he can....

Would there be in inclination too drive more slowly if site roads were gravel rather than tarmac. Yes, I know you'd be worried about bits of gravel pinging off off your pristine paintwork.

I think some people are missing the point that the responsibility for ensuring that all customers adhere to the CMC on-site rules rests on the shoulders of the CMC on-site employees.
A proactive approach by site staff by being aware of what is happening on their site is required. The excuse that all employees are either in the office or cleaning the facility block all day, does not add up. The site staff actually go outside to attend to site cleaning and maintenance during the working day and obviously should be aware of what is happening on the site.
A few people have said, that it's the duty of other campers to go scampering to the site office and to tell tales on other campers who they think are breaking the rules. This is nonsense of course, as all that will happen is a silly empasse with two different opinions and the site staff being "Piggy in the Middle"..
So much better to have the Site staff deal with offenders who they personally have witnessed contravening the rules. As said earlier this needs a high degree of commitment and vigilance on the part of the site staff. As in all jobs the phrase " Could do better " may also apply to some CMC on site employees.
When the stage has been reached that customers are all adhering to the on site rules, then we will know that the commitment and vigilance of the CMC employees has made a huge improvement

Site staff will have to set the example 😉. I think walking pace should be the guide as there will always be the counter reply how do you know what speed I was doing? We ALL need to take responsibility for safety on site, speed being one aspect. As I've posted on this thread before its too easy to forget you'e driving a potentially dangerous hard shelled vehicle the human body is just the opposite.
I don't know how to resolve it but some support of site staff by HO if they do 'challenge' speeders along with scantions if necessary - it's a bit like early arrival debates, we members can't resolve tgese issues other than abide by the rules, but that doesn't sort the odd members who persist.
