I knew that G1, I’d done my homework👍🏻. I support them regardless of what nationality is in the mix. I know I’m not feeding the coffers of big business.

Yes I started a discussion in the general chat section but it doesn't seem to appear. The only way I can access it is by going to my own recent activity.

Wound out the awning this morning to check that the end panels of the "Windblocker" fit OK. Seems to be OK although I didn't waste any effort pegging it down on the hardstanding.

I couldn't say with all honesty, I do know that the local council shop rates put a lot of businesses off.

Markets have never gone down well in our city, don't know why they have tried but never stayed for long.

We do have a fish van that comes around all the way from Arbroath, you'd need to re mortgage your house to buy a bit of fish.

While the big 4 can take some of the blame can you put all the blame on them, i don't think so. Don't forget wages up here are nothing like down south yet we still have to pay the same and more for weekly  staples.

Checked up on a few OAPs this morning on our walk. May be needed for dog walking duties soon. Then cleared the garage out, filled the car with the rubbish and then put most of things back in garage! Then to the tip, had lunch then we both went to Chester to see the Killer Driller.surprised

MrsWN fared worse this time 1 hour of root canal treatment. Fortunately dinner only consisted of a home made rice pudding.

Exhausting day one way or another.

As it's a very much "On Topic" discussion General Chat is not the right place for it so I moved it to Caravan and Motorhome Chat.

Should that not be 0.43 litre?

Is your orange top a 1% semi skimmed?

Our Lidl has started getting orange top, not organic of course.

Previously they had a 1% purple top but that disappeared a couple of years back (maybe more).

We can still get the purple top 1% milk in our local Spar but its vanished/replaced in the other shops by the orange 1% I do like Arla BOB milk but at £1.55 for 4 pints compared to £1.09 for the orange top I only get it when its on offer.

To go anywhere other than our nearby Lidl or Farmfoods (5 minute walk) would involve driving which would make the more expensive milk even more expensive, so not really a viable option for us.

However, we would not drive around searching out cheaper milk, or other food, when on holiday, we buy where it is most convenient.  Sometimes the milk costs the same as at home, other times it costs more, all part of the holiday cost.

When DD was working, they did not get through a lot of milk so used the extra filtered stuff which does last well.  Now she is home all the time she buys the less expensive ordinary stuff as they get through a lot more milk.

It must be almost 40 years since we last had milk delivered.

Thank you, we will, it is one of our favourite sites. This time we have one of the 16 new service pitches that they installed during the 3 month winter closure. They also put in one of those grids for the Motorhomes, so no more lifting manhole covers for them, and no transporting of water / waste for me.

We had a good journey from Chapel Lane and arrived about 12:20. For those who know the site, the lane is as bad as ever, potholes on the potholes. Unfortunately it is owned by Cirencester College, so there is little the club can do about it. There are only a few scraps of snow left on the site. However, on the high point of Birdlip Hill on the A417 where the road reaches 950 feet, there were still huge corniced drifts at the side of the road. After setting up we walked through the park into town for a look round and our almost free coffee in Waitrose on the way back. They make you buy a cake now. 😀 👍

    Steve

Good to hear about the new motorhome waste point.

I suppose something could be done about the approach road if the Club were willing to contribute towards the cost. Wonder if its ever been discussed?

We've got up to a nice sunny morning here in Worthing but cold and frosty outside.

We'll be going to the surgery later for my wife's appointment, also bank to pay in cash from work drop money and tips and then Worthing town centre to do some shopping.

It would be interesting to know David. I would not have thought the costs would be that extreme to repair the road and add a limestone margin. Plus it would be in the CC's customers interests and those of the tennis club. So perhaps a 3 way split. Although it's not a major access for the College, except for students on foot and it does slow traffic down. Although when we used it yesterday, I was having to stop and let students get past as the usable road without walking in a deep pothole is so poor. A wide gravel margin for them to walk on would be a lot safer.

A beautiful sunny day at Cirencester. Looks great for a decent walk as the forecast is for it to warm up significantly . I think the gaiters might be in order, even walking through the park to town we could not take our normal route, as everything is so muddy. At NT Dyrham Park, on the edge of the Cotswolds towards Bristol, although the house is open, they have closed the parkland due to it being waterlogged. We might visit later in the week. Fortunately the lunch time pub welcomes walkers with muddy boots and provides a boot cleaner.😀

KJ. No, it was £1.43 a litre, orange top is 1% fat.

Enjoy Cirencester Steve, a site we haven't visited although we know the town. Interesting to hear about the M/H update. Not been to Dyrham Park either, another on our list.

Our local Montacute House is running an exhibition about the Winter Queen, Elizabeth of Bohemia in conjunction with the National Portrait Gallery so must take a peek before the Easter crowds arrive.

We had an interesting evening last night.  We went to our local Museum Society and the lecturer was a June Barton, nicknamed The Queen of the Saltmarshes.  She has lived on the Lincolnshire Saltmarshes all her life and gave a very interesting talk about her life and the life of the marshes.  She is definitely a one off though.  One of life's eccentrics. laughing

We are taking my car in for it's MOT today. Fingers crossed.

The weather has played havoc with the roads and coast. I don't know if anyone saw the news about the Somerset coastline at Blue Anchor Bay? The pub is now on the edge of a precipice and the road could be next.

That's awful Brue. We stayed on a CS in Blue Anchor last year, a lovely site by the sea, thinking of going back this year.

2017 and 2018 has bee very bad weather wise, and maintenance jobs that should have been done properly is now getting worse, eg pot holes.

Saw a sign recently  that said "for years we have driven on the left of the road, we now drive on what is left of the road.

Ah, I see, price not quantity conversion.  Brain not in gear, 1 pint is of course 0.57 litres.

    That is quite a premium!
