I'am sure you will get the hang of the new software Goldie,  I remember thinking I'd never get the hang of new software at work, but got there in the end.

Dull and wet here, at least the rain is doing away with the snow, though there are still piles of snow all over the place.

Last week I got a new part sent out, free, by Lidl to replace part of the kitchen tap in DD's flat, impressive as the tap is about 7 years old.  It is one of those ones with a pull out hand spray and the spray part had cracked where the hose attached.  Today the tenant rang to say it had totally broken, so I had a quick trip down into town to fit the new part, which was only a 2 minute job, so she now has a very happy tenant.

Otherwise I have been busy in my workshop doing some wood turning. A friend's daughter has asked me to make a wooden platter to give as a wedding present, OH wanted me to finish off a salt cellar I was making for her, and I had the project for this month's meeting to finish too.

Just a pity it is so cold out there!

Good news on the caravan front, our dealer has persuaded AlKo to supply a new damper for the drawbar, it should arrive on Thursday, so we will hopefully  be able to pick up the van on Monday.

Bit of a damp day here at York. Rain though the night and first thing when I took Flyte out for his first walk. It did improve somewhat before 10:30 so our second walk, round the village, was in the dry. I caught the bus after lunch to the National Railway Museum where I spent an interesting afternoon wandering round viewing the exhibits. Hopefully tomorrow will be drier.

Up and out early today, well early for me. Had an 8.00am appointment at the doctors, surgery wasn't open when I got there! By the time the shutters opened there was quite a queue. Apparently some people prefer to doorstep the surgery to get an appointment rather than hang on the phone or half an hour only to find all the appointments taken. I was there to get the x-ray results on my knees. .  Apparently they are not bad enough, yet, to be replaced. Not quite sure how bad, bad is!!! Anyway I am being sent to a specialist physiotherapist  to see if I qualify for steroid injections and, no doubt, other advice. Doctor also pleased with recent blood tests, cholesterol now down to 3.2 with the help of statins. At midday I was in Boots Opticians for an eye test. Strangely one eye has improved since my last test a year ago! I suppose that is good news but I hadn't bargained on buying new glasses. In the afternoon I got bored so I washed the car so a fairly productive day.

Hello All. I decided to have a break from this forum for a while for various reasons but have popped in now and again to see how everyone is doing. So glad you got to Lanzarote at last Tammy Girl. We had similar problems to you (but nowhere near as bad) but arrived in Tenerife on Saturday. Similar problem with a delay to the flight but flight crew marvellous as were the staff at East Midlands airport in de-icing and clearing all the snow and ice. Weather here wonderful. We are very lucky as the weather was bad here last week with wind and rain. Hope everyone at home is thawing out now. Will pop in again when we get home and will see how things go.

No we haven't been up the i360 yet, SteveL. My wife's not too keen on heights and it's quite costly.

It was a nice walk. We walked from the site through the park where there were benches to sit on for a rest. Then we walked oast Lidl toward s the sea front. It was a long walk but we took it at a steady pace and sat to have a rest every so often a there were plenty of benches all along the sea front.  By the time we got close to the pier, we sat on one of the benches and had our picnic lunch. Then we walked on to the pier and found a bench to sit on there where we had a cup of tea from our flask.

From the pier it was just a 5 minute walk to the Lanes. Walking through the Lanes was fascinating. Lots of narrow alleyways with loads of jewellery shops, boutiques etc. There was one shop selling Rolex watches with the watches and the huge prices on display in the shop window.

After the Lanes, we visited the gardens around the Royal Pavilion. It was interesting to see the Royal Pavilion from the outside. We didn't go in though.

Finally, it was time to do the long walk back having spent the whole day out. The weather was ideal all day. Fair weather, the sun was in and out. When the sun did come out, it felt quite warm. Warm enough not to need a coat! The walk back to our caravan took 90 minutes with breaks using the benches for a rest every so often.

I'll be working tonight from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. My wife says she doesn't need to do any shopping today so she'll just stay at home in our caravan.

It kept raining in the night and was grey and wet first thing this morning but now the weather has changed and the sun is out, so hopefully, it will get warm enough to sit out in the awning!

I couldn't help noticing when walking through The Lanes that if you wanted to shop there, you better have a lot of money to spend as everything we saw was very expensive. There was a Rolex watch there in one of the shop windows for £14,000! You'd probably have to re-mortgage your house to buy that! Lots of overseas tourists there too judging by the variety of languages you could hear spoken as you walked through the area. I think we'll stick to Tesco for our shopping!

I've taken my Discovery in for MOT and service today.  Not expecting any surprises - it should get through.  However, I am getting a slight juddering which I suspect may be the beginning of the end for my auto gearbox!!!  I reckon I better start saving!!

Busy  time  for  us  both  then  David  !!

I  picked  up  my  new  specs  yesterday,  decided  to  have  new ones although  prescription identical  to  last  time  they  were  shewing  signs  of  'heavy  handed'  syndromeembarassed.  I've  got   Hygienisisisist  at  midday  today,  then  a  weeks  break before  the  Blood  tests  &  then  the  diabetes  clinic  &  "Doctors  Review"  which  is  not  a  top shelf  magazine.  All  this  lot  to  be  done  before  the trip  to  Nunnykirk  at  start  of  April.  At  least  today  I'll  be  able  to  park  on  Tesco's  tarmac ( FREE !!)  instead  of  Cheshire  East's  Car parks.

Saw  my  nephew  yesterday  and  HIS  knee  replacement  has  gone  very  well  but  his  gym based  treatment  has  resulted  in  an  almost  terminal  marriage  'cos  his  back  is  not  shewing  signs  of  improvement  so  his  OH  is  doing  the  driving  with  groans  all  round  !!

Hope  you  keep  on  keeping  on  wink

It's been a bright sunny morning here, I've been out for a few local purchases before I meet up with some local friends later. OH got up very early to go fishing with a friend, he was suffering fishing withdrawal systems so wanted to get out before the closed season.

Enjoy your day too, whatever you are doing.  smile

undecided Rained off today,,went to the B/yd with good intentions but not the weather for dealing with 80 ton of planings !!

Further to my previous "beware"on another post,,,work is going on to reinstate the broken road surface/potholes on the "A2" from Brenley Corner towards Canterbury. On lane is coned off at present. But due to the enormity of required works,,",it could be some time "before it's all over .

Wow,  home  from Hygienisisist  and  all  seems  ok,  even  the  receptionist  was  on  good  form  --  she's  even  double  booked  me   for  both  H  &  Dentist  on  same  day  in  October  when  my  Scottish  tours  over  !  Despite  the  cost  I'll  only  need  one  carpark  ticket  so  I'll  enjoy  the  saving  there  wink  but  nary  the  sight  or  smell  of  any  'points'.  Dentist  would  probably  book  me  back  in  to  have  'em  ground  down  if  he  saw  any of  them,  anyway  surprised.

    P. S.  /  Edit  --  I  did  hear  that  blooming  'S'  word  on  weather  forecast  this  lunch  time --  seems  like  winter's  still  got  its  claws  in  us.

Triky, Travelling around like we do I'm not surprised to hear you say that your road conditions are bad but I have to say that when we were last down in Kent we did find them to be some of the worst we've seen around the country. Some areas are now catching up though.

I don't know whether it's more wear and tear from an increased traffic load or more HGV's or just a lack on money being spent on them from the council but it's getting quite hazardous towing these days.

Been a busy 3 days or so. Some appointments attended to and others made. Spent yesterday buying Mrs WN a second hand car, a small runaround (a bit like me she says) as she hates driving the tow car. It will be the first one she's owned since we retired 17 years ago so getting someone to give her a good introductory No Claims Discount was a bit of a job. All money going out.foot-in-mouth

Bit of a cloudy morning here so took a drive to the bottom of the island to the market there, didn't  buy a thing. Sun came out mid afternoon and its flipping hot.

Moving to our other apartment in the morning for the next 2 weeks, we could have stayed in this one if we wanted but I prefer the other one as its quieter there.

The resort is divided  into 4 area's all have pools, some smaller than others. Apartments are pretty much the same but some are a bit bigger than others, the one we are in now is slightly bigger than our other one but its a bit busier here as the main part of the resort, at times it gets a bit much for me, I like it quiet.

Nice to hear from you millieH, hope you have a nice time in Tenerife.
