When staying at Clumber Park there was a Scotsman who would practice on his Bagpipes, not on site, but in the surrounding forest, not sure if his was trying to entice the haggis from their burrowssurprised

No doubt that Grant knows  'many potential members are 'turned off' from joining'

If you are trying to insinuate did I ever use a Cl whilst I was not a member of the CC then definitely not.

However if the question was "did you on Club sites allow your children to cycle against the traffic flow under your supervision" then I will plead guilty.

Perhaps I should spell it out? surprised

But when did you last care? (Outside of a class room) I've done engineering for the best part of 40 yrs & have never ever used        circum = 2 Pi r (I learnt it differenter than you obviously taught)

But we're digressing from the CC allegedly taking 2 bites from the same cherry ...

It is actually taught both ways in schools, but interestingly enough most engineering and construction students that I have observed in FE colleges up to BTEC and HND level will be taught to use diameter rather than radius in both circumference and area formulae. C=piD and A = pi(d/2)^2.

The idea I believe is that it is far easier to measure the diameter of a circle or pipe or drain than a radius.

I am making no statement either way on your use just telling you what is current thought.

PS you either know why pies are so important to Grant or notwink

Yes that is the generally accepted way of teaching the use of pi.

Also taught in the Bible - I Kings 7:23-26

    Ask Grant - he knowssmile

so back to the OP, are they? The pitch has been assigned to the dad, not the daughter. Why should the club be robbed of their due fee?

But back to the OP how does the value of Pi explain why they are paying twice for a pitch?

There not David - and it is not 'their pitch' as Mark's dad has booked the pitch. But I though that you would have realised that

sorry yes you're an engineer, forgot you use j for root(-1) is that right? due to i being current? while us humble mathematicians use i

    i ate sum pie

last one really, but a member of my staff, did wear this one but only a few realised what she was saying? I told her she couldn't really wear it again. The funny thing was the head saying what a good idea it was for her to walk around with a maths question! The next time she wore the black one. (yes she was actually)
