We've just finished breakfast. Cereal followed by sausage and baked beans on toast. The rain has stopped at last!

So sorry to hear that you are both feeling so rotten brue.  I do hope you feel better soon.  Take care and keep warm.  I hope all your family recover soon as well Tammygirl.

It is teeming with rain here this morning.  I just hope that it doesn't turn to snow.

There's still plenty for us to do here as soon as the weather is kind enough. Our friends have given us a list:

1.St. Nicholas Market goes back to 1745, stalls and small cafe located on Corn St.

    2. Stantons books/maps on lower end of Corn St. Apparently, there's a huge map of Bristol on the ground floor by stairway leading to basement.

    3. Broadmead main shopping area rebuilt after the war.

    4. M-shed with its relatively new purpose as a museum. Free to get into but very interesting I'm told.

    5. Christmas Steps.

    6. SS Great Britain, just a short walk from the club site here. Admission price £14 per adult. ( 3 more points for my Tesco Club credit card!)

    7. Bristol Cathedral.

    8. Queens Square.

Has anyone on here visited some or all of these attractions? If so, what was your opinion of them?

Well we’ve had our ration of snow. Quite heavy, but very wet stuff. It’s stopped now and the fields are greyish, and the yard very slushy.

Its one of my favourite post Christmas meals today - Turkey Soup made with the stock from the turkey carcass. There’s just the two of us and it’s lovely and quiet.

If it were to get snowed in, I reckon it would be weeks, or even months before we ran out of food. The only thing we might miss are bananas for my husband. He has one every morning before milking to keep him going till breakfast.

I have a nice little stack of left over food to enjoy too. This is my favourite time of the year for food...my breakfasts this week have been big slices of Panettone, don't ask why, I bought an extra large one and no-one wants it. Handy for bread and butter pudding with the remaining milk mountain....

Snowing here too, must have started during the night, we now have about 10cm up here.  Not a lot moving on the main road we can just see from our balcony, but it looks like it has been cleared.  No clearing or gritting on our side roads though, and the snow is falling again.  Small flakes as it is very cold.

We had planned to go shopping today as we have invited DD and her husband for dinner on the 1st and she has requested the full turkey experience, with trifle for dessert.

Will see how the roads look and maybe venture out later.

Plenty of food in the freezer......just not turkey or roast potatoes etc.

    Well back home frown

We usually aim for just around 11am. Bit later today as I waited for rain to clear before packing up. I could not get the alko wheel lock key to engage. After 10 mins with numb hands a chap from across the way did it for me laughing

My neighbour has unlocked our front gate and opened it ready for our return. Icy here when we arrived and I nearly went base over apex when I got out of he car!!

Very cold here overnight but milder now. Went to see Mum this morning, pleased to say she is much improved.smile Found her sitting in the small quiet lounge doing some colouring. Much brighter and really chatty today, she even had a cup of tea and some fruit while we were there, which is good to see, as she was off her food. The hat I knitted her fits lovely and she is quiet taken with it.

Started to snow on the way home but I don't think it will 'stick' unless the temperature drops again the ground is too wet just now.

Eldest son and family drove up from Wiltshire last night, they said roads were fine, think they got here just before all the snow arrived in Northern England. Its his birthday today so we are all going out tonight for something to eat.

Youngest son has got lots of snow up on the pennines, this time last year they were in Malta and walking about in shirt sleeves. The kids will be loving the snow though.

No plans for this afternoon think I will just 'chill' might even start knitting a hat for me wink

Lying in bed this morning finishing a cuppa when I heard a familiar noise. Oh NO!surprised I'd forgotten to put the black bin out for collection.

Quickly I grab my trousers, open the door near where the bin is stored and step straight into 6" of slush with my slippers on. Freezing ankles, I rush out to just catch the bin men (sorry,Refuge Collectors) and wait there in my thermal vest that I'd fortunately put on while they empty my neighbours bins leaving me until last. Thanks fellas. Can you ask for your tip back?

Of course, Mrs.WN was very sympathetic, well she was when she'd stopped laughinginnocent. Got my own back by forcing her to warm me up with a cuddle.laughing

Interesting bit of trivia regarding Dunkirk, during the first shots of the three Spitfires one of the pilots says a line which at the time when watching I remember thinking is he trying to sound like Michael Caine in the Battle of Britain?  I've just read on IMDB that indeed it was a cameo and uncredited appearance by Michael Caine.

Waiting for a reply on our offer on a property in France.

We went over in the week before Christmas to view several. Took the dogs.

'I must have driven 1500 miles searching but the first one we saw is the 0ne we want.

Picked up our new Ultra Fiamma MHO awning. Bought specialist sausages from my local farm shop then came home and dozed. Lovely.

Still no reply. New news I'd good news?

We jave had a good day today as said earlier the site was covered in snow this morning but the main roads were fine. We decided to head to the Royal Yacht Britannia we have visited it before but went again as it is so interesting and holds plenty of history. It is definetly worth a visit if anyone is in the area. After that we had dinner in Frankie and Bennys which was nice. Now back in the van it is pouring outside so we are going to watch a film we bought today The Hatton Garden job hopefully it will be a good film.

My brother served for a few years aboard the Royal Yacht, Francis, and I don't mean as a waiter. Nice easy job he said but got a bit bored so got a "proper" job back in the RN!

We were fed up getting Royal Christmas cards every year.smile
