Sorry to hear you are not feeling too good Bakers2 and hope you feel better soon.  Hope your cold  finally goes soon Tammygirl. Mr H says he is getting a cold frown

I spent the evening on Welcoming duty at The Cathedral Christmas Market this evening. The Cathedral looked lovely and very festive, lots of lovely goods on sale and lots of people attending.  I didn't spend too much money despite the temptation - honestly. laughing

I had a busy night last night at work, mostly Shoreham deliveries but some East Worthing as well.

We've just got up to a rather dull and grey morning and we're just having our first cup of tea.

A foot pump works better than one that plugs in to the ciggy lighter. In a flurry of enthusiasm, I bought one a few years back. It's collecting dust on a shelf in the garage.

Thanks for your good wishes milliehull. Throat less sore this morning but that' how it's been lately ☺.

The Christmas Market in the cathedral sounds lovely I bet it looked amazing. I'm impressed you didn't buy - that's very restrained 😂

Dull and damp here, not inspiring, might go and start putting clothes to one side for our trip. Already made a start on personal items and beach stuff and pulling togther all the purchases, including Paxo and hula hoops 😉 so we can frighten ourselves about packing and weight 😂😂😂.

Helenandtrevor I wonder if you'll show milliehull restraint 😉. No she was working you're going to help raise funds!

Bright and sunny day again today, the grey of yesterday late afternoon has gonesmile thinking of going for a bike ride shortly, will need to wrap up well.

Number one son up for the weekend as its his daughter that is at boarding school up here, they have a parade on this weekend which she is taking in so we are all going through to see her, then lunch afterwards smile

Trying to decide whether to start the lounge re-decorating or to go away in the van for a few days undecided would like the lounge done before Christmas but would also like to get out and see some of the Christmas markets etc.

Colds all but gone now thanks Millie, glad to hear you are feeling a bit better today Bakers2, is it just a sore throat that you keep getting or cold symptoms aswell? if so is there something that is possibly irritating your throat. We can't have those nice smelling sprays or candles in the house as it affects OH's eyes and throat.

Had a lazy day so far, spent a bit of time sorting out 1 of my wardrobes, didn't manage to throw anything though so failed miserablyfrown but at least it is looking tidier.

Oh well off to get thermaled (is that a word) up for our bike ride, must be mad.

Well, 3 days later we are back on t'internet. BT sent somebody this time who might (fingers crossed) have actually found the fault. It helped that he was the only one of the last 4 recent engineers to bother looking for it, instead of just blaming it on the equipment. Turned out it was a faulty connection at the main junction box about 400 yards away. Took him 3 hours to sort it all out and I as said, we are keeping our fingers crossed.

Gasman's recent visit seems to be working as well but Service people at garage unable to find the intermittent fault in car when it was in for service yesterday, intermittent being the operative word. Up to now it's not that important but we'll keep an eye on it. So only 2 out 3, but pleasing all the same.

Busy, busy, busy. Relatives visited and all accounted for.

It might actually be technically warmer today but the sun and cold of yesterday was much more acceptable. Dreary today.

We went into Worthing to do some shopping using the Smart car and then returned to the caravan for lunch. We watched the 'Snow Tiger' programme on BBC2 and then I fell asleep for half an hour after which I woke up feeling thirsty, so kettle went on for a pot of tea, just had two cups of tea, thirst duly quenched!

Back from our rather chilly bike ride but it was good to out in the fresh air, did just over 5 miles uphill on the way out and down of course on the way back. Just thawing out with a hot drink wink

Think we are going to go away in the van for a week smile decorating can wait laughing life is too short to worry about these things.

Time now to go and sort something for tonight's meal and think about preparing some meals for going away. Managed to lose some weight already so don't want to scupper it with eating out all the time we are away.

Need to contact our friends who run a CL near to where younger son lives to see if its ok to pay a visit.

Intermittent faults are strange things. Had a car where on occasion when under power would cut out. I would drop the clutch and re-engage with a bit of throttle and it carried on without problem. When it cut out it would be at speed and I probably lost no more than 3mph. It would happen no more frequently than once a year.

Off to darkest Putney tomorrow to visit No 1 daughter and family. Having sold the Kuga, we will be using OH's little runabout. Previously its hasn't been too bad standing my ground on the Kingston bypass against all those chelsea tractors that try to intimidate you with their size. I wonder if they are going to try and push me around tomorrow.

Took my youngest daughter and two grandsons (5 and 6 -nearly and just respectively) out to the local Harvester by them for a meal. Gosh can they eat. There is no fat on them but given the chance they can eat for England if not the UK. First was a generous bowl of salad with potato mayonnaise, pasta, noodles, mixed beans, olives, pickled onions, pineapple pieces, cucumber slices, sweet pepper strips, shredded carrot and sweetcorn. They finished this along with a bread roll and wanted more. I told them to wait for their main meals. They both had the larger children's menu choice of half a small chicken, corn on the cob and a good portion of sweet potato chips washed down with a glass of blackcurrant squash. I had fish chips and mushy peas although they had 80% of both my mush peas and chips and a quarter of my battered cod and most of the very nice tartar sauce heavily laden with capers. This was followed by two more bowls of salad each and two more wholemeal rolls and a further glass of squash.

I told them that they could not have a bowl of icecream but that mum would give them some after a light evening meal later.

Busy day, not much sun but got warmer as the day went on.

Sanded the new worktop, again, this time with the electric sander as I found the vacuum cleaner attachment.

Meantime OH decided the bit of the old worktop beside the hob really needed some immediate TLC, so I scraped off the old finish, which seemed to be breaking down and going soft, then sanded it too. I then applied some IKEA mineral oil, instead of the Danish Oil to both worktops, now it has dried in it feels much smoother. Will do another coat soon and that should be fine meantime.

The plan is to refinish all the kitchen worktops, the table, and the trolley next year, long time since we last did that.

After a very late lunch we headed down to DD's to take a load of stuff to various charity shops, then went past M&S to get something for dinner on the way home.

Need an early night tonight as we have Communion at 10.30 tomorrow, followed by lunch at our son's house down in Ayrshire.

Grandchildrens' school Christmas Fayre today. Lots of money spent on things we neither needed nor wanted but all in a good cause. 7 year old grand-daughter sang in the school choir. Lovely festive occasion. Then family here for tea. They have all now gone to watch an ice hockey game and all is quiet.😊

Sorry milliehull, miss remembered what was written 😶.  Good job you didn't spend too much leaving plenty for today 😉.

Hmmmm I didn't reckon on company for Christmas, but hey ho 😂. This will be son's 7th Christmas with partner - they've yet to spend one together 😮, I thought as things were more formal together with other events it may have triggered a new tradition 😉. But he's coming home, nice to have him 😆. His 2 best friends from nursery days are back in the country and visiting parents so a chance to catch up with them too. He did add that partner may pop down in the afternoon and stay overnight 😲😲. We are putting up minimum decs and M&S have done my catering it's already in the freezer. I feel a little like Margo, from the Good Life, but I won't be returning my Christmas delivery I shopped it myself 😂.

He asked the date we're off and I stressed our 5.30am start so he thinks he'll leave the day before 😇. Kids don't you just love 'em?

We've got up this morning to a rather grey and overcast scene here in Lancing. It was busy at work yesterday evening and then suddenly went quiet after 9.30 p.m. so they let me go home by 9.45 p.m. Another 6 p.m. start tonight. Then two days off.

Dull here at the moment, although the sun does keep trying to poke through. Fairly warm though, well relatively compared to Thursday / Friday. Off for a walk around Clumber lake shortly, will see if the Cormorants are still visiting.

Noticed on my online banking, the government has given me a £10 XB. I assume this means Christmas Bonus. Not that I am complaining, but is this a yearly occurrence, I have only just started getting my state pension.

Yes  Steve  I'm  thinking  that  the  £10  Christmas Bonus  is  surely  but  a  fraction  of  what  it  costs  to  administer  now !!

Seem  to  recall  it  was  started  in  the  days  of  Barbara  Castle  when  it  was  a  welcome  addition  to  the  State  Pension,  but  now ,,  ,,  ,,  ,,  ,,  ,,  ,,  undecided
