Virgin cables are not far underground  😲

We have just had our footpaths resurfaced are being dug out thoroughly first, we had lots of different coloured numbers on the old pavement, green being cable, those numbers were constantly much smaller than the rest! Some houses have their cables inside green trunking, ours doesn't and is only just under the surface by our fence.

Thankfully you can't beat the old fashined methods. Parchment can still be read in record offices but few have access to floppy discs 😉😉

    That's what I meant laughing  £200 per household. So if on your own £200 also £200 for a couple 2 x £100.

Mum got £300 when she lived on her own but when she moved into care it dropped to £150. Not quite sure why they even get it when living in a home, I would have though it would be paid to the home, after all their heating costs must be very high. Given the high costs of running these homes and that they are not getting anymore from the government, this money could make help.

Thanks brue.  I presume that will mean that we won't get any extra when I reach 80 as we now get £300 between us. However everything could change by the time I reach that age. undecided

Went to the GP for a BP check after being on medication to correct it.

I went in sniffing as I have a touch of the dreaded cough /cold , she then took out her tissue and joined me in synchronized blowing! Guess what its something that's going about!!

The only reason I had mentioned it was that The OH and son have respiratory conditions

How many of you went to the Docs and got a flu jab?

MOH does every year and then succumbs to the virus.

I haven't had flu for some  30 yrs. or more - without the jab.

So what does that say about the NHS?

Even though entitled for a number of years this is the first time I decided to have one, so I will report back.  I did read somewhere that this years dose isn't a defence against the current flu strain so will wait and see.

Is there a lot of permafrost in the south of England.😂

But even there growth continues. Info from National Snow and Ice Data Centre.

The only growth I'm likely to get this winter will be the growth around my waistline from turkey and mince pies at Christmas!

Anyhow, there's no frost here this morning and although the trees are mostly bare now, the grass is still green, albeit with a few muddy patches!

There are still plenty of squirrels around and foxes too as well as a variety of birds!

Very dull here but warm. Off to clean the cars. We are expecting some deliveries today, so can't go anywhere.☹️

Just signed to upgrade our BT broadband to infinity. A good deal, nothing extra for 18 months and only the hub delivery £9.99 to pay for. I was in two minds as our existing service is good for download. However, our upload is rubbish at around 1mb. They reckon 52 Mbps down and 9.5mb up with the infinity, so I will be able to utilise the 200 Gb of cloud storage they now provide and not take weeks uploading.

I hope you give him your £100 then, as he is presumably the one who is paying to heat this house!

Has he also lost his single person council tax discount due to this arrangement?

He phoned the WFP office to explain to them that I was living in a caravan and his address was just used by me as a mailing address, so they paid him the extra £100 last year as well as this year. So he still gets £200 a year.

That's right, Kj but I don't need to claim anything as I'm getting paid wages by Pizza Hut every 4 weeks plus my state pension. My overall income is above my tax allowances so I pay tax every 4 weeks through PAYE. My wife doesn't need to claim anything either because if she needs money to spend, she has two credit cards on my account with funds available.

That's good to hear, but surely you should be treated as a single person, or as  living with a person who does not qualify, and also receive £200?

Just like I was before my wife was old enough to qualify.

So you still have by law to have a tv licence in your own right then ,as a  mailing address does not cover your legal requirement ,surprisedwink

One of the parcels I was waiting for has arrived. Not sure about the other, its tracking info seems to have got a bit confused. The one that arrived was a Christmas present for one of my sons. A LED hydroponic grow light. Unpacked it to check if worked OK. Instructions have a big warning do not look directly at LED's. Even pointing away they were blindingly bright, still spots before my eyes.🙄 Why would anyone want to look directly at them.🤔

The last two we had fell out of the caravan cupboard and broke. Guess what Carol found this afternoon in Bourton-on-the-water. Exactly the same mugs. Job done! 🤗

After a bit of fiddling around, I got a few basics done online with the bluetooth connection from my phone. My Virgin cable has now been spliced back together so phone, broadband and TV are operational again. Scalpings are down and compacted. Now I form an orderly queue to await arrival of bedding sand and block paving.

One discovery I made is that my normal TV aerial isn't working for some reason and preliminary investigations have not revealed anything. I may have to brave an encounter with next door's three Boxers to check if they've chewed through the co-ax.
