Very grey here all day, 7 degrees outside but feels colder.

OH is agitating  to get all the little jobs in the kitchen finished, while I would rather be at my lathe.....some negotiations ahead I think!

OP,  as  with  all  things  in  the  vaccine  business  the  Annual Flu Jab  can  never  be  a  "Certain Guaranteed  Success".

It's  an  amalgam  of  research  by  at  least  5  centres  which  then  take  the  prevailing  type  of  flu  in  their  area , then  they  wave  their  magic mixing  test tubes  and  come  up  with  a  "Most Likely"  anti-virus,  and  of  course  its  anti  most  flu's  but  emphatically  NOT NOT NOT  anti  Colds  !!

    P.S.

I  did  not  make  it  clear  in  my  previous  post,  but  the  5  centres  are  based  all  around  the  World,  not  just  the  UK !

So  its  a  truly  international  combination  not  just  British

After a severe outbreak of flu in Australia this winter (just past) the latest batch contains something to help us avoid this virus (amongst others.) One advantage of living in the chillier reaches of the northern hemisphere, we get to benefit from what has gone before us each year.

Steve we've just recently cancelled our BT package and moved to Plusnet. BT have been gradually putting up the prices so that now they were after £52pm for landline, broadband and calls, they were not willing to discount it in any shape or form and even said come January it will go up again. We now have the same package from Plusnet for £25.

Bright and sunny this morning again but chilly, more clouds this afternoon and the wind is picking up.

Went to see Mum this morning had a very good visit. Back home for lunch then lots of trips out to the MH with bedding, clothes and food Most now ready for tomorrows off to Bury.

Not had my flu jab yet as been waiting until my cold cleared up first, OH had his before he got the cold of me. Will wait now until I get back from this trip, though as we are visiting Gkids will probably have another cold by the time we get back cry

We’re off out tonight to the Annual Diiner and Prizegiving of  the North West Shorthorn Society. It will be a bit of a squash in the car - all seven seats taken, plus the cups we are returning wrapped carefully behind the back seats.

But will we be bringing any home? I know, as I print the certificates etc, but my lips are sealed. The rest of the family like a surprise.

Two years ago to the day was the start of Storm Desmond, and we had a very hairy drive back. Wagons galore overturned on the M6.

Got our flue jabs done at our local chemist ,still free, and they contacted our GP practice to advise them we had been "done" no appointment  neededlaughing

Hope you all enjoy the big night out Goldie, sounds like the timing will be good, the forecast looks a bit grim for Friday and Saturday at the moment.

Decided to do some Christmas shopping today at Clark's Factory Outlet, only one who really benefitted was OH getting a new pair of shoes...., how did that happen?! Did get a few things as stocking fillers, must get my brain in gear to sort Christmas out. wink

    Enjoy Bury, Tammy G!

OH refuses to have a flu jab, just can't persuade him.

Weird isn't it, our son went through the same thing as us recently and he moved to Plusnet on a better deal, he now pays 75p a month less for recommending us money-mouthlaughing

I have to pay for my flu jab frown

Edit: could have got ours for £21 if only after 6pm and weekend free calls, decided to go for the free anytime though. Would do away with landline if we had a decent mobile signal.

Cheers bru, its the indoor market I'm after, I do miss a good market up here.wink

We are with EE. Going up next month. It will then be £26 a month including line rental. It has been at £24 for a few years. 1000 mins to mobiles, free anytime calls up to 1 hour duration, broadband is fine for us as well

We use Virgin for everything - TV, landline, mobile phone and broadband. We are very happy with their service and as we have had trouble with broadband connection with both Sky and BT in the past we don't  intend to change.

We took our cats to the vets this morning for their health check and blood tests which can be traumatic for them ( they are both 15 and have hypothyroidism) but we managed to see the head vet today who was so kind and gentle with them that it went without a hitch - apart from the bill!! Cathedral duty this afternoon. It is getting quieter at the moment. Presumably everyone is busy Christmas shopping. Eldest grand-daughter came to have our evening meal with us this evening so we had a lovely catch up with her.

Have a lovely time in Bury tammygirl.

Things have not quite gone to plan today!!! We got away from home with the van on time and arrived at Stacksteads just on noon as planned. All set up and going to fill aquaroll only to find that I'd forgotten to pack the handle! embarassed Luckily there's another van on site and I borrowed theirs. Filled up with water after taking Flyte for a short walk, and discovered, when the pump kept going on and off, that there was a leak at one of the joints under the bunk just where we store our pillows. There was a fair bit of water on the floor but fortunately the bedding was dry as we've had a similar problem before and so ensure that it's in a plastic bag off the floor. So after finding the leak, and drying out as best as we could we phoned round firstly to Stewart Longtons (no parts dept) and then Callenders at Carnforth enquiring after new joint, and a new aquaroll handle. Drove over to Callenders, got the parts, back to van for 4:00, fitted new parts and now all seems to be sorted!! Phew! Will just have to keep an eye on it.

EE is part of BT as is Plus net and the regulator has slated BTfor spending far to much money on their TV football aquisitions rather than on upgrading the other  basic parts of the company ,but keep increasing their prices , (to pay for the tv side?)as nearly all other internet companies are paying BT to use their network of switching stations and infrastructure (including virgin)

Ps info comes from one of our neighbours who is an area manager?with Open Reach (BTs infrastructure arm)

A lazy day for us too! Just pottering around the caravan and awning plus a trip into Lancing town centre to visit the library and then back to our outfit. The site owner appeared this morning which enabled us to pay another weeks site fees, £84. We used the DVD player to play our Christmas music CDs whilst having a drink and some snacks followed by lunch and then an afternoon nap.

Well for the first time ever I joined the 'booking frenzy' as I wanted to book a serviced pitch at Seacroft on specific dates to meet up with our daughter and family as SIL is doing the North Norfolk path run again next summer and they will be staying there with their tent.  It was surprisingly easy!! So we are now all booked in for a week at the Norfolk Broads site immediately followed by a week at Seacroft - yippee.
