Finally got the painting finished, brush, roller and tray washed and battled my way home through the rush hour traffic.

Winter fuel payment arrived here too today.

OH has treated other side of all timber but says I need to sand the drawer fronts as they will need at least one more coat.  Worktop will need several more, may need sanding between too, not dry enough to tell yet.

Oops! Grave error.  I had the appointment down in my diary as 1.15pm.  Just been to check and she tells me it's 2.30 - dentist time (tooth hurty 😉). Apologies to the dental hospital for having a go! Appointment was on time and I was there 45 minutes.  Just arrived home after an unpleasant journey through the middle of Birmingham.  Glad I don't have to do that journey often!

That is appalling service from Amazon WN.I am not at all impressed with their service since they started delivering directly and not using Royal Mail but that is the worst I have heard about.  I think the drivers get paid and treated very badly so perhaps not surprising.

I hope all goes well with the blood test results Triky.

Glad you are safely home Tammygirl (even though you are probably not as it is so cold).  I hope your Christmas goes better than you think.

It has been a lovely bright sunny day here but oh so cold.  I was on duty at the Cathedral today and one lady had just arrived from Scotland and said  it was much colder here that there.  The wind has been bitter. We are out this evening to the Museum Society.  I would rather sit by the fire but we are committed to giving a lift to a lady who doesn't drive so needs must.

Very cold here today. We ordered a new Aqua-roll and Wastemaster for our new van (silver ones) very fancy lol  anyway they arrived today so thats more stuff to pack in the CVan. There was nothing wrong with our old ones but we had had them 13 years and as we got a new van we would get new kit so also got new cups. Plates etc.

I've always been really happy with our local hospital (George Eliot in Nuneaton), and even the University Hospital in Coventry, where I've have three ops.  The journey to the dental hospital is, however, a bit of a trek.  The hospital itself if great - it's just the journey - into  Birmingham, through the middle and out the other side!

Must be there day for it. I had a repair on a filling this morning followed by a successful foray for presents for two of the grandsons. The off for the grand-daughters school run this afternoon. Retirement - what's that?

It certainly has gone colder! However, it was nice to have a dry day with some sunshine. We visited WWT Arundel this afternoon. There were a lot of lego models of birds on display on various parts of the site which we hadn't seen before, including a model of a Kingfisher. We went on the boat safari there.

    WN

Good luck with Amazon. A couple of years ago I ordered and expensive flashlight for my Canon DSLR. Not only did they deliver it to the wrong house but they put it over the back gate of my neighbours. Now they work all week and didn't find it until the weekend and by then the packaging was soaked!!! Fortunately, and a testament to Canon quality it still worked. However when I wanted to complain about the shoddy service I had great difficulties finding anywhere that you could easily contact them to complain so I gave up in the end. If you are successful please let me know how you go about it.

Paying for parking is a bit of a vicious circle in that if the fees are scrapped the money they currently get will have to come from somewhere else! I do think the fees could be fairer as they are often biased against those people who have appointments that take a relatively short time. I once had an X-Ray at MK Hospital and I got there ahead of my appointment and was lucky enough to get straight in and I was out in about ten minutes but by the time I got back to the car park the initial 15 minute free period had expired so I had to pay for another hour. When Margaret had her bypass operation in Oxford a couple of years ago I started with a bag of £1 coins containing about £50 and it used to cost about £7-8 a day. After she had been in two or three days one of the staff mentioned there was a special pass for such circumstance which would have been a lot cheaper. Strange there was no mention of this in the paperwork received from the hospital before admission!!!!

The last time we went to Guys Hospital for my wife's dental appointment, it cost £24 to park at the NCP there!

Although it can cost that to park in central London, even if you are not visiting a hospital. I think the unfairness comes in the differential. Our local hospital car park, costs over twice as much as those in the town centre. Public transport, although an option and free with our passes, would involve two buses and an hour and a half each way. However, as DK mentions the hospitals require the revenue. Perhaps at places like Guys they could reduce the cost if you have an appointment.

It is in any event better than the free hospital parking in Wales. When the OH was in Abergavenny for a week, it regularly used to take 20 minutes finding a space. It would have been a real problem if you had an appointment.

It's often difficult to get a space at Worthing Hospital car park even though there's a parking charge there.

We've got up to a lovely, sunny morning here in Lancing. Plenty of blue sky but how long will it last?

I'll be working 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. tonight. So no plans to go out anywhere today. The plan is to spend time relaxing. The sun is coming into the awning as I type this so it should soon warm up enough to sit out in the relaxer.

More fool you, anyone who pays £24 to park a car must be insane. There are plenty of alternatives, its called using your legs by parking further away and/or using alternative transport.

Move to Wales. No hospital parking charges here but freeloaders who park and then catch a bus into towns or walk if in Wrexham are a nuisance.

Finally got around to washing the caravan down and Bobby Dazzling it, then cleared the leaves from the grass as we are having some treatment put on it on Friday. I do love trees, in fact I think they are my favourite things but I do wish they would be more careful where they deposit their leaves! Don't mind them on the shrub area but on the lawn.

I think it's the same with lots of hospitals whatever the charges. There are lots of staff work in hospitals and they have to have somewhere to park and most of them also have to pay but perhaps not quite so much as the patients. We have recently had to go to Bedford Hospital and there we can park at the Park and Ride at Elstow and use our bus passes for the bus that takes us straight to the hospital entrance.

If I go to George Eliot Nuneaton for blood tests, I book an appointment time on line and I can get in and out in Les than 30 mins - No charge for the first half an hour.

To be honest, non of the hospitals I attend have huge parking fees.  The most I've paid for ages was yesterday at the B'ham dental - £3.50.

Hospital parking is free almost everywhere up here, Dundee Ninewells and Perth Royal are the only 2 that charge I think.  Finding a free space is a different matter as the provision is insufficient.

Not had to visit our posh new hospital in Glasgow as yet, but the number of cars now parking in the nearby streets indicates that there are too few spaces, and that they are probably operating some time limited regime so staff cannot park all day.

We will find out in March as our daughter will be having her baby there.

I don't know who the fool is; but given the likely rail costs for two I suspect that the parking might be the cheaper option.

Sunny here all day, after sanding the drawer fronts again, I have been to visit a friend while OH gave the fronts and the worktop another coat of Danish Oil.  The whole house reeks of it!

See Easy T, that's just pure selfishness on your part, not thinking of those poor unfortunate friends and relatives who will now have to pay parking charges, adding extra stress at such an already stressful time.smile

Bitterly cold here now the sun has gone down, must be almost zero, clear sky.

The sun warms the house well as we are south facing with big windows, but once it disappears behind the hill to the west, we soon have to turn the heating on.

Took gas and electricity readings to send in, we are about £550 in credit at the moment but the winter bills will soon use that up if it stays so cold.

Checked caravan this morning to make sure all water pipes and pump were completely empty, and brought in a few loose  cushions that had got left in.  Should be all set for winter now.

OH e mailed dealer to  book service in late February, but no confirmation reply as yet.

Starting to plan next year's trips, need to fit them in around when the babe is due and SIL is off on (school) holidays so we can be here to help as necessary.

Refuse to pay the prices of CAMC sites in school holidays, so looking at CCC sites and CL/CSs.
