My wife would go alone to such an appointment if taking the train or bus,  and probably enjoy a day in town on her own as well!

Over the years, we have found that public transport is cheaper for one person, but with two, driving can be cheaper.

However it is not just the parking, in London there is the congestion charge too, petrol to get there, and probably lunch to buy as well!

Now that we have our bus passes, that makes quite a difference, so on the very few occasions (about once a year) that we need to go into Glasgow city centre, we drive to our daughter's house to park and take the bus from there, we do not have a bus service into the city centre from where we live.

Just checked my thermometer, now below zero here........brrrrrrr!

Temperatures taking a steep drop here as well, had some help in the garden this morning just to tidy up. Have also booked a couple of breaks for 2018, one in the early spring and another a bit later. Nothing else planned at all.

Anyone stuck for car parks, as per previous chats try parkopedia clever web site with all sorts of solutions.

Hospital parking is free almost everywhere up here, Dundee Ninewells and Perth Royal are the only 2 that charge I think. Finding a free space is a different matter as the provision is insufficient.

Perth Royal Infirmary is free to park KJ, if you have an appointment you are sent a slip of paper which you put on your dashboard. There is also a specific area of the car parking in which you park so tend to always get a space. The staff have a few separate and only for them car parks around the grounds. Its the visitors to patients that have a problem getting a space but even that is free when they do. Ninewells hospital in Dundee is from memory fairly expensive but plenty of parking.

First time I walked into front room and told OH that I would be popping out shortly as there was an ambulance on the way. wink

I was out by 12pm next day and Fliss picked me up at the door. Second time I got a taxi home at 3am.

Thanks TG, I was trying to find something on the internet and there it said they charged in Perth, must be old info.

Ninewells is apparently £2.20 now for a max of 4 hours if you park in the right place.

Another bright and sunny day however freezing its not lifted all day today. Another 2 loads of washing done free of charge wink

OH was at the food club today its their 2 years anniversary and its doing very well. The local councilor was in attendance today so OH as Chairman of Development Trust played mien host. The council are very interested in what as a village we are doing and hoping to encourage other rural villages to do the same. Tomorrow its the Men's Shed monthly meeting, that's going well to.

While OH was out I enjoyed myself doing the housework laughing then I made a pot of soup and put some beef into the slow cooker, its smelling lovely now and not long until our evening meal.

Went for a walk this afternoon just before the sunset, only 1.5 miles but bracing in the freezing air. The new houses are going up well so lots more new families into the village, will be the first time in over 30 years that new houses have been built, everyone seems to know everyone at the moment but that will change.

We should have picked our new caravan up yesterday. We placed an order with dealer about a month ago. The dealer had one on pre-order as it happened and so that became ours. When I signed the contract it included for a weight upgrade. The weight plate had not arrived and so we declined to collect. Give the dealer incentive to chase. With a notional User payload of 157 kg before battery and mover we need the upgrade, Hopefully next Monday!

Gosh that is old info they haven't charged for many years now, although there are still parking ticket machines and you have to put one on if parking or you will get a fine.

£2.20 for 4 hours at Ninewells isn't bad then, they must have changed that too as  I remember when OH was in there it was more than that, same as when DIL was in having a baby, pretty expensive then.

It's strange. We have a neighbour who, like yourself, says that she wouldn't be seen dead inside Wrexham Maelor Hospital, until reminded that she probably wouldsurprised. Another insists that he wouldn't go anywhere near Glan Clwyd (for those not in the know it's the other Biggie near St.Asaph.)

We've not been well served by the primary board in charge of North Wales so suppose that charging for parking may have been the final straw!

Parking at our hospital is not cheap (apart from the first half hour which is free) and trying to find a place to park is well nigh impossible.yell

We have been out for afternoon tea today with some old friends as a belated birthday present for Mr H. It was a lovely afternoon. A very enjoyable tea and so nice to have a catch up. I have written a few more Christmas cards this evening so slowly getting there.

ABM our DIL communicates with everyone via WhatsApp. I dont know why as I find email easier.

Brother in Law in France talked us into using it, as we just used to send emails. I must say it is much quicker and easier, particularly for videos or photos. You can also make free phone and video calls using it. OH particularly likes the group function, where you can send the same thing to several and the replies  appear in chronological order in the same thread. Although email sort of links everything, it gets very messy.

Still sub zero here and looking like it is going to start as a glorious winter day (metrological winter starts tomorrow) although snow showers are forecast from 16:00. Shopping this morning and then probably delivering some of the church Christmas cards, as long as the snow does not come early.

Jolly chilly here in Essex. 0.5c at 7am in the town, frost on cars, roofs and on the grass but not white on the grass. Breeze is COLD Luckily, huh, I have to blitz the house so no need to go out except to collect something this morning.  No excuses after that the job MUST be done 😢 have folks over this evening so that's an incentive 😉.  Made a good start on cards last week but lost the impetus now. Really no excuse for idleness today here 😂

No snow here, be unlikely anyway. Stay warm folks

The other advantage is that we've never had difficulty finding a space to park there. There's nowhere else to park unless you want your car towed away and have to recover it for a huge fee!

Cold and sunny here today. OH had his men's shed this morning, they still don't have a permanent place as yet. They thought they had but Historic Scotland are not playing ball. They have been given the ok by the tennis club to use the spare ground they have but now someone who lives nearby  is objecting, just turns out he is the head of the local councilsurprised nimby springs to mind. Meeting tonight to discuss hope it goes well for them.

Doctors this morning for my yearly check up, seems I'm fit and well wink wish someone would tell this cold that.

Went out to van to check over and given engine a turn over, 5c in the van 4c outside. Off now for a look around the retail park could be expensivelaughing

Hard frost overnight, everywhere white this morning, but no snow.

Sunny again, must be 4 days in a row now, about time we had a bit of sun.

Worktop still needed more sanding so I have done it with sandpaper in one hand and the vacuum cleaner dust brush in the other hand as making dust in the house is frowned upon.  OH has now given the surface another dose of oil, hopefully the last.

The drawer fronts are not taking a good finish easily, cannot be a decent quality piece of wood, very disappointing.

I've blitzed the house - deep joy. We had quite a flurry of snow with decent size flakes. Didn't settle though. Managed to dry washing outside smelt lovely when I bought it in as the snow started.

Sounds tropical your way Tammygirl barely reached 3c here and we're in town 😲.

Just having a cuppa and catch up on here before starting an easy freezer dinner. We have folks over this evening.

We use fb messenger to communicate with NZ, means we can have conversation in real time or with delays. Photos and videos shared too. All for free 😆. Doesn't seem to work so well in this country though - or could it be son doesn't respond 😉😉. How lucky are we in this day and age to have instant communication? My grandads sister went to Canada in the late 1800s the family lost touch 😢 after a few years. I feel we are involved with our daughter and her family possibly more than if she were closer to home. ABM go for it - if you can manage this forum you'll find it a doodle 😂

Bitterly cold all day. But instead of sitting by a toasty warm stove tonight, we’re going to see Peggy Seeger. in concert at  Morecambe. It will be warmish in the venue (I hope), but very cold outside waiting for the doors to open. The wind blows straight in from the sea.

Meeting possibly went well this morning as the county councillor is "new" so trying to make a name for herself,we shall see, as several ongoing problems with Buses, she is taking on,and taking forward every one concerns about the amount of new "houses" that is being foisted on us 11537 just in our council area ,and no increase in the infrastructure that is already at breaking point,

But  on a lighter note had a great view of a low flying Spitfire on route  west to east while out with Rosa, the children on the way home from school could not believe what it was

JVB hope your new councillor acts on things. Sounds like so many of us when it comes to infrastructure. Our council admits are roads are at 96% capacity but have approved lots of new house building in the tjousands, it is needed no doubt about that, but have NOTHING in place regarding infrastructure. They are talking about using on residential road as a bus only route - that is causing much discussion 😉. In fact they were talking about closing our A&E but that's been reprieved. We are talking county town 😲

Goldie have a great evening, you won' notice the cold as you queue 😉.

The county one was ok but the local councilors were about as much use as usual, as a chocolate tea pot, they just so wanted not to be there
