Weekenders spoil it yet again

me too. I often use a site for one site to get me within a short distance from the main stay site

If it's from AD then of course they were UK sites ET.
Also this is part of UK sites and touring section so it must be

I agree with OP and many other posts I also realise that many working folk can only get away at weekends. However, we can all see the problem, if you can't get the full week, or more if required, then you will go elsewhere, so lost revenue. The club does need to consider this issue, which could be elevated either by higher prices at weekends or keeping some pitches free for full week bookings. However, what I don't understand is why members with perceived problems don't take them up with a written complaint to Head office, and I don't mean talk to the lovely people on the phone, they can do as much about it as posting on here will do. If it wasn't called a Club, (it isn't a Club) and we were dealing with a business we were unhappy about then we would complain. These people sit at the top in their so called Club and make the rules, isn't it about time they started to really listen? So my advice. It's a Business if we have a problem then we should be writing to the people at the top to tell them, and not an email that can be passed down and we should expect a reply from the person at the top, as we would in any other business. In my opinion calling this business a 'Club' is a good get out for so many issues.

The way I always explain the CAMC is that it is a Club running a business.
There are those who volunteer their time like the local and regional committees, the Club Council and the Executive committee all who are unpaid Club members. The paid team at East Grinstead essentially work for the Club.

Personally do not see a problem, we all have the same opportunity to book sites whether for a week or just a weekend not only on the booking opening day but all through the year.
You have to be flexible if you book late and take whats on offer just like any service you are wanting if that's a hotel, flight, other holiday type etc. If the club sites are full there are lots of alternatives. We never have more than a few days on sites at a time so I guess the whole week thing does not bother us and we always mange to get in somewhere in the area we want to visit.
If you feel you may want to go away at a certain time then book in advance then cancel if you do not need it, so long as you do it in the rules that's fine and what we do.
I will book all my weekends on booking day and then nearer the time choose what ones I want to use and what ones I don't and cancel accordingly, nothing to do with weather just logistics of when we can get away and when we can't and where we want to visit.

Good idea and if everyone does this those who have to book later will find they cannot get what they want and will go elsewhere. Result a lot of empty pitches later in the year.

(Last paragraph) your system actually brings those who are looking for pitches into the equation, enabling them to book. You seem to have solved the problem MT. Well done👍🏻😊

i cant commit to any weeks/weekends for next year, but i dont think Im doing anything this Frenzy Day...perhaps a couple of hours fun on the pc to see what i can get if i were to 'opt in' to this totally unfair system..
(...and you all know why i think ots unfair, so wont reiterate here....)
...then, perhaps, as Michael mentions, during the course of the year, i can release some of these (including weekends) back into stock so that the last minute folk can pick them up....as i'll have no intention of using them myself....

That’s the spirit B.B., well done you👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

How do you know the weekend isn't taken up by people booking the previous week plus the weekend or those booking the weekend plus the following week, or just those who fancy the weekend. Doesn't bother me we tend to do monday to friday, if we're away a few weeks just find somewhere that can accommodate us for the weekend and move on.

Seems a good idea to just book weekends willy-nilly as soon as possible. No need to book the mid-week bits as if the weekends are gone no-one will be booking them anyway.
I wonder if there is any way we could set up something so we can exchange these booked weekends later on to suit the individuals' actual requirements. After all, the only identity check, if it is actually made, is the membership cards and these could be passed round with the bookings.

I am one of those terribly inconsiderate people who book weekends, unfortunately I have to work Monday to Friday so until I either win the lottery or retire I will continue to book weekends, many on opening frenzy day. I have booked 40 weekends this year, 28 with the club and 12 private sites. (have had to cancel one) My complaint is not availability at weekends but the fact the club continues to increase its membership significantly but has not increased the number of pitches available by the same % so year on year the problem gets worse as new members join, many who like me still work full time, minimum 3 day bookings would be a disaster for me. We could try like many gyms do a peak and off peak membership so for a reduced rate you can only book Sunday to Thursday, another rate just gives you weekends or full membership gives you opportunity to book for longer whenever you choose.
There would still be certain sites impossible to get on I'm sure

But you will pay a premium for fri and sat night.

That is exactly the same way we book, lots of wk ends with the Sunday ect ect, then if we decide to go we amend the booking longer if required, if the weather turns crap cancel, it does not cost me anything and gives me a choice to go somewhere else where the sun shines, no always a cmc site though, and being a member of the other lot we do not book with them unless we are sure we are going.
Ps use the system, it works.

We only pre book what we know will are going to use, Personally I think paying a deposit at the time of booking is a good idea and have no issue with it, if we then decide to add any additional stays we are happy to see whats still available and book accordingly

Forget deposits, Just pay for the stay in advance when you book.. We have to pay anyway, why not at the time of booking. It would stop much of the speculative bookings and curtail those who book every weekend just in case the weather is good.
It would also be beneficial to the CMC as they would have a much better grasp of the future income from each particular site.

how will they have a grasp? what about refunds? or are you suggesting no refunds?
Why anyone should want to give the club (or anyone) money that could earn interest in your own bank account rather than their's?

All though I am in the other camp and pre book sites, I do believe that this would work even deposits has a beneficial effect and the only reason we do not book the other club is a deposit is required.
If we continue to pre book club site's and are joined by likewise members, then things will be changed for the benefit of all members....
i hope😇😇😇

I think that there are 365 booking days on the website MM. For most purposes and definitely mine I could easily book later but prefer to get it done. I do think that a better day of the week could be chosen for start of bookings. There will always be some unavailable of course on any given day of the week. Perhaps they choose a day when less are available so as not to overwhelm the website

...note to EasyT.....also why i think Frenzy Day is unfair....
