IMO, the type of work being done can also be a consideration.  A builders van with ladders and other equipment, early starts, is quite different from a businessman going out in a car 9-5 every day.

Builders with ladders etc are patently not on holiday, while you might never know that the businessman was actually going to work.

Have not visited Littlehampton but have used Alderstead a few times, it was quite quiet when we were there.  The warden did however turn away a couple with 2 children, a large Hobby and a second car towing a trailer full of gardening equipment.

Back home again, had a lovely drive down the coast road. Stopped off at Arbroath for a spot of lunch, parked up overlooking the sea. Sun was shining but the wind would cut you in two, still nice to sit in van in the warmth and enjoy.

Van unpacked just got to put it all away now. We won't be using it now until December as we are off to Spain a week Monday for 2 weeks.

Villa break this time, staying near Nerja so a visit to Granada is on the cards. We used to holiday further down the coast years ago but never visited it then, only used to have a week as we were still working then so chilling out was more the requirement.

Tomorrow is set to be another sunny cold day, I much prefer that to grey and wet.

Glad you got your much needed rain Bakers2, have a good weekend and happy birthday to OH for tomorrow.

Thanks Tammygirl I'll pass on your greetings. Glad you had a lovely time. Cold and bright is so lovely - much preferred to warm and grey or worse cold and grey! Rain has now stopped and it's drying the paths, wind rather chilly.

😆😃 son arrived, did not let me know when he was leaving as agreed 😤 but he bought the dog 😆 and we get her as holiday dog for the week, dont know how she's getting back again 😉. His OH is off on soil course in Milton Keynes and staying for the week. We understood dog was going elsewhere 😢 so we  are delighted to have her company for the week. He thought it would be a nice surprise for his dad, who is thrilled 😆.

    Booked table for Turkish tomorrow.

I don't see the difference to be honest. In my previous line of work I could have done as some and joined an agency to sell my services. Might well have worked in Prestob area. I would have been on site from Monday PM until Friday AM. Leaving for work each day at around 7.30AM and returning about 7pm or later

There was some noise from one white van playing music rather loudly in the middle of the afternoon, however, it stopped after a while but apart from that, we didn't see any other white vans. The rest of the outfits on site were just normal caravans and motorhomes.  Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay there for the two nights and the toilet block  was very good and clean.

We had a busy day yesterday but we're now settled back in to the Northbrook Farm CMC for the last two nights. One night has now gone so just one more night to go and this time we're on hard standing so no more muddy shoes!

They asked me to work an extra half hour and the last order came in just a few minutes befor 11 p.m. for a delivery in Shoreham. So it was 23:20 by the time I finished and 23:40 by the time I got back to the site. We then had our evening meal and finally got to bed at 01:30!

We got up at 8 a.m. to a lovely sunny morning here but feeling tired especially at the thought of having to work another five hours tonight! At least I have a day off tomorrow which will be another busy day because of the move to Lancing Fruit Farm CL and having to get the awning up once again. Then no more moving for another 28 nights!

All units in DD's study now installed, and she has started filling them up.  One door still to be fitted as 2 of the3 were found to be damaged when unpacked.

OH took them back on Friday, then one of the replacements was a reject too.

On Saturday DD and OH were at Ikea again and got one new door, which was also damaged.   Stock was low and all found to be slightly damaged, so not a good day for Ikea!

She now has to wait for new stock to arrive.  Have started the tiling instead.

A real nuisance when you open up the boxes to find faulty goods Kj, it's the bane of the DIYer!

Had a bit of fun today when my DNA results came through, as expected really, but more Scandinavian than I thought and a hint of Iberia which was the only exotic bit that a lot of us inherit from the cave dwellers of northern Spain. Hmm, I'm off to learn flamenco now....tongue-out

Forecast was for the overnight rain to disappear fairly smartish this morning. So I was getting a bit impatient as 14.00 came and went and the water continued to cascade from the skies along with it's cousin, the hail. Brilliant forecast. The sun has just woken up but looks like being a very short working day for it. At least it'll start my Bah-Humbugging off early.

Cheered myself up by starting to plan a few breaks both here for winter and next Spring/Summer.

A few weeks ago we unearthed a photograph from a 1924 calendar . It showed a Lakeland scene entitled “Haymaking in November”. We smiled wryly but today we are recreating (almost) that scene, by making silage in November. We reckon the ground is as dry (or least wet) that it’s going to be, and the mower and rower upper have been out. Tomorrow a contractor will bale and wrap. We would have liked clamp silage, but the ground is too wet for our Forage Wagon.

Don't know about this year, as we're down in Gloucestershire at the moment, but we were at Penrith round about this time last year and there was snow on the site, never mind on the tops!!

    Frost here, too, this morning.

It's going to be a busy morning ahead. First of all, we plan to move our Smart car to park on the street outside my cousin's place. Then we'll need to get a taxi back here to the site before hitching up the car and caravan to tow to Lancing Fruit Farm. Then unhitch before returning the Shogun to my cousin's place and swap over to the Smart car. Then back to Lancing Fruit Farm in the Smart car. Then time to get the awning erected and get settled in for the next twenty-eight nights before our two nights away in Brighton Club site.

Likewise here in Essex.  Glad we live in the town as still heavy frost on car roofs at 9.05am  brrrr. Beautifully sunny and still at the mo. Just how I like it.

Lovely day yesterday for OH birthday. Started Saturday evening with Skype converation, well eventually after several false starts switching from laptop to mobile phone a video call via fb 😲😲, between all the family. Present opening,  eldest granddaughter asked if he could open presents 😉. I'd sorted birthday cake and candles but not thought about presents 😲. Quickly rectified and I produced the nz package. Granddaughter promptly told grandad the contents were 'Soft lollies (sweets to us) his favourites! You can share with me when I'm in your car very soon'. Talk about out of the mouths of babes,  she's 3 1/2 and counting down the days on the calendar her mum has made. 😢😂 youngest 16 months clearly saying grandma grandad and a whirlwind.  51 days til we leave and 54 til we see them in the flesh 😆😆😆

    Enjoy your day folks.

Heavy frost here too this morning, still very cold out bit grey and wintery looking.

Today I'm having a lazy day, didn't sleep well last night again. Managed to get an appointment at the Dr's first thing, I've got sinusitis so on a course of antibiotics for a week, also started with an annoying cough frown feeling pretty miserable so making soup and just chilling out for awhile.

    It is indeed brue.

We just got some glass kitchen unit doors delivered, they were not available in the Ikea store, so I was really worried they might be damaged.  Unpacked them immediately and relieved to find they are fine as it takes about 3 weeks for them to arrive after you order them.

A cold and very grey day here, have had to turn the heating back on.  Now working on the units for our own kitchen, base units now assenbled and have moved on to building the non standard height plinth they have to sit on.

Just contemplating whether I should hang the wall units first as it will be easier without the base units in place.
