We visited High Beeches Woodland and Water Garden as planned. We arrived there 20 minutes before opening time so had to wait in the car park. The reception at the Gate Lodge opened at 1 p.m. We went through reception and headed for the picnic area where we had our picnic lunch. After that we had a walk around the gardens. There was plenty of autumn colour in the trees. The garden was quite extensive with plenty of paths, ponds and bridges. It was quite hilly too so we were glad of the many benches scattered around to have a rest.
We spent over two hours there and with all that walking up and down hills, we felt quite exhausted by the time we left. These gardens are open until 31st October from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. There's a tea room there too open from 10 a.m. which does morning coffee, lunches and afternoon tea.

Tammygirl what a super first day home. Better than the usual, if you're like us, the sad feelings at the ending of an adventure and too soon to think about the next trip when you settle back into the house.
Safe journey Oneputt, I expect you'll be on the water now or very soon. Hope you see plenty.
Tricky hope you have success with stranded boat today. Are you selling tickets? 😉
Been suffering big time with a bunion well got really bad whilst doing our NW trip in June/July so much walking. Eventually booked to see podiatrist and went yesterday 6 week wait 😲. But she's good. She's explained much and at least I now know it's not arthritis in my foot but way bunion throwing foot. Good manipulation and massage felt better at the time but has ached right up to my hip all night 😢. Have to repeat manipulation about once a week. Certainly more movement and sincerely hoping regularity of the exercise will ease the leg pain, obviously caused by compensation when walking. Lots of food for thought. Night splint ordered too.
Son coming home this morning for dentist staying overnight 😆. Not sure if he'll be accompanied by anyone else sugar beet harvest underway. Dog may come though 😃😆.
Mother's birthday so quick trip over there for an hour or two otherwise the days our own.
Enjoy your day folks.
Edit son and dog arrived before I posted so timed out but copied and pasted!

The weather is miserable this morning. It's been raining on and off with a dark grey sky. We'll be going to Tesco petrol filling station to top up the diesel in the Shogun, so big bill to pay but lots more clubcard points! Otherwise no plans to go out anywhere today. We were out yesterday and had lovely weather for it, now time to rest and chill!

I wouldn't mind a boat being lifted, daughters boyfriend has been refitting our old boat all year in our parking area (we have given the boat to them) hoping it might leave the premises and give us some more space! No such luck so far, he has a nice sunny sheltered spot to do the work. Looking good though so I must give him credit.

Been for our flu vaccinations this morning.
OH's cough and cold a little better.
Wet here today, misty too, the planes landing at the airport are disappearing into the low clouds.
No good for emptying the car and caravan, so that will have to wait, but OH has started on the washing mountain as we were in danger of running out of clean clothes!

As long as you qualify it was "free",and I also did not need to advise our surgery as it was done via the pharmacy computer system ,it was a lloyds branch ,it seems as if it is an nhs initiative, maybe to take some pressure of gp surgeries,
Ps parking no problem for us at either pharmacy woods from home ,Docs a 2,5 mile bus ride from home to village every 15 mins, and their are two pharmacies there including one in surgery

Time to get used to being home again, must look for my jobs list soon.
Priorities are sorting Smart car insurance and helping OH with the tax returns, then get started on phase 2 of the kitchen upgrade.
Have ordered tiles for DD's utility room, so I expect she will be wanting them put up soon, plus she is about to reorganise her study, which will involve some painting and new cupboards, and of course the little bedroom has to be prepared for the upcoming new arrival.
By the time I finish all that it will be Christmas!

I have been getting ready for a few days away. We are off tomorrow. Just to a fairly local site. Where has the sun gone? We are shortly going over to our daughter's for 'birthday tea' as it is grandson's 10th birthday.

A miserable damp drizzly day. So it’s the minimum of farm work (5:00 - 8:30; then 3:00 - 6:00, plus about 45 minutes checking the outdoor stock. ).
We have lit the fire and I’m settled down with my Kindle. I’ve just finished Robert Harris’s “Enigma” and downloaded his “Archangel”. I’m glad I’ve discovered his books! Late to the party I know.
I recently signed up for a free three months trial of Audible, so I’m also listening to books. I can get three free ones before cancelling. I’ve read Chris Difford’s “Some Fantastic Place” as I’m a bit of a Squeeze obsessive. It was read by Chris and it was if he was next to me. His prose is as lyrical as his lyrics. So I’m now starting Bruce Springsteen’s Born to Run, and it’s sounding good so far. Another very lyrical writer. Only another 17 hours to go!
Sorry, I’ve just realised this post is verging on What I Bought Today ( but I didn’t accrue any points.)

Had a productive day today, took some stuff back to the van and gave it a clean, popped into Sainsbury's on way home and bumped into owner of our favourite local CL, she said they are thinking of putting in some hard standings to extend the season, good news.
Have cleaned the car inside and out this afternoon, as well as some household chores need a rest now!
KjellNN, I bet up wish you'd stayed away now, that's some list of jobs.
Glad you arrived home safety Tammygirl and to a lovely time with your family.
Millie enjoy the party and your break away.Happy birthday to your Grandson.
Hope everyone else is enjoying the weekend.

Got quite sunny here mid afternoon so have brought in a few things from the van. OH is now on the third load of washing, with at least another 3 to go apparently.
Been in the garage to re-aquaint myself with my woodturning tools, next club meeting on Monday so need to make something to take along.

Busy day, started emptying the van everything has to come out ready for its service next week. Good opportunity to give it a good clean inside, it will have to wait until tomorrow though as we went to see Mum in her new home.
What a difference, everyone seems cheerful, lots of career's around popping in and out of rooms having a chat with folk. Mum seemed to be be quite happy with the new place. Its such a relief not feeling bad about leaving her when we came home. Couldn't complain about the other homes care but the staff were real miserable gits at times. Of course she still has the same problems and challenges but they don't seem so daunting knowing the staff are so caring and cheerful.
More washing done as its a great day today for it, good breeze and sunshine. OH just catching 40 winks, not something I am guilty of, hope he's not coming down with anything.
Flu jabs for us will wait until we get back from Malta, I have to pay for mine still but OH's is free.
Have a good trip away MH and birthday tea.

" KjellNN, I bet up wish you'd stayed away now, that's some list of jobs."
It is actually nice to be home again and have something interesting to do. Weather on the trip was not too great so not so good to be spending so much time in a space only half the size of our lounge!
Time I have plenty of, so will not be rushing through the list!

So a day on the water today! the boat club was asked to support a small local charity run what they termed a lochathon! with people cycling round, some swimming and others canoeing the length of the loch. I was helping provide safety boat cover for the water based activities!
Glad of the cake and coffee at the end of it. and we didn't lose anyone!!

I thought that you had one of the portable washer, like ours.Did you not take it with you on the last trip? We manage to do one session at least each week we're away, so always have plenty of clean clothes with us.

We've also had a couple of calls from the surgery re our jabs, but they'll have to wait till we get back home in mid November.
