Didn't bother taking any waterproofs today as forecast was for a dry day. Why do I bother looking at the forecast? Pointless. Didn't get too wet as popped into a couple of hides at Minsmere whilst out walking the area and saw a bird I have only seen 3 times in my lifetime.

It wasn't the same bird by the wayundecided as this one was a Juvenile (Red Necked Phalarope) for those that want to know (or even for those that don't)

Lovely day here in south Devon, good visit to Greenway.  Went round the house first then had some lunch. Then I walked down to the boathouse while OH went to the walled garden and glasshouses.

We had ice cream afterwards, then on the way home stopped off at Sainsburys to buy fuel.

Now we have to decide what to do on our last day here.

Have you been up to the end of the road past Ramslade and had a look at Stoke Gabriel Kj? It's a very pretty riverside village on the Dart, if the tide's out you can amble round the shore towards the church, nothing strenuous.

We've had a totally pointless expedition, we attempted to see my Mum who is an hour and a half away. We couldn't get on to the M5 at Taunton so diverted to the A38 near Bridgwater, couldn't make progress there so went back over the M5 towards Glastonbury.  By that time it had taken over two hours to get twenty miles from home. So for the first time ever we gave up and phoned my Mum. Will try again Monday. Seems like the traffic and hold ups on the M5 are never ending. yell

Yes, we went down to Stoke Gabriel on Thursday for a look.

Will probably go to Coleton Fishacre if the weather holds.

It has been a good few days here.

Log store sorted and load of logs ordered.  Came across an advert for a 9 day bird watching holiday in Latvia for about £2k each so got me wondering should we just van for a total of about £1.5k for 3 weeks.  Something to consider and plan over the long winter evenings.laughing

"the only problem with being away in the van, only 1 TV lol."

One person watches the TV, with earphones plugged into set, which then cuts out the external speakers. T'other watches via the laptop and personal hotspot on their phone, over the internet, whatever they want, also with their headphones on.  Job Done!

Brue, I heard that the incident in the M5 was another case of 'hazardous' liquids on the motorway. Is this a new way of 'terrorising' the public. It is very worrying. Hope you and the dogs get to see your Mum soon.

The M3 at Winchester was closed for several hours yesterday with bomb disposal in attendance. Not sure what it was all about.

Oh go on, cheer me up! laughing I just think the motorways are running at such high capacity the slightest thing stops everything. We have several local roads closed for improvements which makes it worse. Second attempt on Monday using another route! Fingers crossed.  wink

Sympathies Brue. We have only used one tiny stretch of M5 this year, twixt end of M42 and turn off for Bromyard Downs near Worcester. No problems thankfully. A strange year for us, normally at least two or three runs up and down, sometimes as many as five or six in "good" years!laughing

Lovely day here, we went to Yarmouth by bus, purchased my chair then wandered down to the beach.  Gratified to see plenty of people about and cafes etc were doing good business.

Beautiful day here as well, sunny and warm.  They switched the big gas heaters on in the Cathedral this week - totally pointless as we were all too warm this morning!!  Going to do a bit of gardening for the rest of the afternoon.

Had a smashing days strolling with a crab butty, pint of Broadside and an ice-cream as stop-offs en route. Nothing whatsoever pointless about any of it so I suppose the only thing pointless is this post itself, so I won't bother!

We've been handing out apples Helen, so good luck with all the peeling!

I've been on my own today but have been busy clearing out plants from our conservatory and cleaning up for the winter. Made a roast late this afternoon, OH had just returned from fishing. He had managed to drop his glasses into the pond and broke his one and only false tooth, which he swallowed by mistake. Glad I stayed at home!

I harvested the last of our tomatoes and rhubarb this afternoon so the bottom patio looks a lot tidier.  Mr H did quite a lot of cutting back so lots of bags of garden rubbish to go to the tip tomorrow. Quite a productive afternoon so not at all pointless smile

Managed to assist a fellow caravanner today. They were unable to connect their electric lead from the van to the car, prior to leaving. They were pointless at the time as the connection had twisted round. Quickly sorted with my little green adjuster.
