Electricity meters

lol
If it's the part of the world I'm thinking, I had one of their stout chaps telling me on holiday that it was forbidden to take photos round the pool area. I checked and of course it was permitted (the reception staff laughed and said they are always saying that) and went back and told him. I was going to do a Basil Fawlty on him but didn't, (who won the.....)
Are they like that in their neck of the woods? In the trip adviser review of the resort many said they were the rudest of all.

as far as I can remember, this has been the subject of TV reports in the past, so someone is worried about it.
Oh yes I agree if it's on TV it must be a true reflection, I mean look at COTY

maybe it's the just ones that 'venture' of out their own country.

I must say I find that particular post rather sad and disrespectful of fellow members, DD. Why do you assume they're all using significantly more power than you? I mean, did you do any research on your recent visit to Putts Corner (which, by your own admission, even with EHU included, was the cheapest site you could find in the area at the time?)

It's not wasteful, it's the perceived I paid for it I am having it, evidence of this is all around the something for nothing crowd, as long as the rest of us subsidies this, but it is not going to change CC see that where it's market is, personally I find commercial sites better and cheaper and in the location I want. The only reason for £49.00 quid is a CL network.

Can you explain exactly what this "evidence" is, hooker or are you just making assumptions? I mean, do you go around looking into folk's vans to check on what electric they're using? Or maybe this "something for nothing crowd" are also the "selfish" and "thick" you'very castigated on another thread!
I'm not sure you entirely get the concept of enjoying yourself on holiday - try it, you might even get used to it in time!

So are people suggesting that we all use the 16 amps provided or round about 3Kw all the time? Our electric heating will be a max of 2Kw (actually 1.8) and that really is when first heating up, most of the time it is at the 1Kw setting. What else? maybe the low wattage kettle? a hairdryer sometimes, but we are careful never to exceed the 3Kw We don't have a microwave but use laptops and a few phone chargers. Awning heaters, yes we use them, I do not consider it a 'waste' if we are sitting in the awning using it to have a pleasant evening, but then it's 1 Kw in the van (on thermostat) and 1 Kw in the awning. If it keeps us warm then we sit out as soon as it doesn't we move inside.

Perhaps somebody could tell us all why there are so many people enraged by the idea of non electric Economy Pitches on CMC sites.
For years the CMC have offered non electric economy pitches as well as all singing all dancing pitches with electricity. .
I have used them myself and never had any challenges
. The easiest and cost effective way to provide this is to turn the electricity on or off at the pitch bollard depending on demand.
The CMC provides the option It is up to the customer to choose,

Hi Ken. Good post. I read all this angst about electricity on site, metering, smart metering, etc etc and then I look at what I and hundreds of others have done by going non EHU. It's so much easier! Non EHU pitches are there to encompass members who choose to do without 240v. The member who regularly uses EHU and gets annoyed that there are non EHU pitches should realise that many members are now discovering the wonders and possibilities of the modern techs. We don't need the CMHCs electricity- we make our own and we are members too. - if a non EHUer wants to go to a CMHC site , why should he not have the opportunity to do so??

Having said that, I read peedee's post and I partly agree with it as a solution. However, knowing how businesses work, I would suggest that the non EHUer would be helping to pay for that bollard and the maintenance of same - something that he will never use?

I was under the impression from my quick searches through the handbook that there are only 10 CClub sites that have non EHU pitches and then only a very limited number on each site. I think the C&CC have non EHU on most of their club sites though.

The discussion has diverged slightly from meters to non EHU hasn't it?
I can understand the rationale behind allowing folk to opt out of EHU (as long as it's done effectively, don't want some cheeky blighter sneakily hooking up overnight when the wardens have knocked off! ) but meters? No thank you.
Cassandra -yes C&CC do have non EHU pitches, mainly used by tenters. I can only remember one example of a caravan/MH on a non EHU pitch, and we've used quite a few of their sites.

There needs to be non-ehu pitches at a reduced rate, to avoid 'dog in the manger' situations. The fees should be by pitch type, not adding electricity as an extra. We've been on many continental sites with metered supplies, and some where pitches with access to an ehu cannot be occupied unless you pay the extra fee - regardless of your using it.

Fees by pitch type - that's the C&CC model. If you go on a pitch with HS and/or EHU you incur an extra charge.
Personally, I avoid grass and non-EHU like the plague but each to their own.

That is what we should all have, CHOICE.. but alas the club does not give us the choice
