all it takes is one spark to start a new idea off

Especially if there is a leak in the gas system!

Boom!  Boom!   (as someone once said!)

    yes thankssmile

But I wasn't having a go at all, just some light banter which has somehow touched a nerve? However I really can't understand, in my view of course, the sort of 'hypocrisy' in that how some can justify to themselves the ungreen effect of towing with a large towcar or MH but then trying and be 'greener' with their choice of energy/metering/solar panels.... As if that is Ok. A sort of elastic green?

However we are all entitled to our opinions Merve. You camp your way and I'll camp mine. As you said no one way is better than another.

With the small profit on small CLs it would not warrant the time taken to keep a track on these meters.

The cost to install and read these meters would mean the cost per unit would be a lot more than the standard cost of electric. Look for a site with an economy pitch, then you will not have to pay for eletric you do not need

You mean you don't remember them?  .... you inserted a coin (usually a shilling or two bob) and turned a BIG key to give you a timed amount of power.  (They were particularly popular with rental TVs  .... I guess people were still scared of messing with electrics in those days laughing).

I actually had one when I moved in the time between starting my first job and getting married, it took 50p coins. The problem was getting enough of them in one go.

I rather liked "bright and electrifying idea".  That gave rather a big clue to the tone of your post, Corners, along with the "spark" and "new light" comments. laughing

I don't know why anyone would want to think you were having a go.

Those of you who stay only on big flash sites will be pleased to know that the clockwork electricity meter is still alive and well and living with the spiders in the shower block on countless CLs throughout the country.

It technically gives access to only a certain number of watt hours of power but has a covert ability to ensure that this ends just before the user is about to start the rinse phase.

Love it Nav, been there, done that! I had to push an extra 50p into the meter for the wash machine here last night. All washed, rinsed and spun, but the door release catch just required another click of the meter!

    Long live the quirky CLs!laughing

we spent years on a lovely private site that required the very first 10p pieces after decimalisation to access hot water. They were much bigger and different to the later coins, but the farmhouse kept a supply, just for the old meter!

Just like what is happening now with the replacemner pound coins. It's just that they aren't woth as much as 10p was then!

I noticed yesterday that the site, Bank Farm, is also an ACSI site
