I can only hope that the weather gets better here H&T. We're getting another heavy shower at the moment, with the noise of the rain pattering on the caravan roof as I type this. If it doesn't get better by this evening, I'll be getting wet again doing the deliveries!

A woman after my own heart. Except in my case it's the household accounts.  Nothing like columns of figures nicely balanced. 😲

Thanks milliehull feeling less wobbly today so I just go with how it is one the day 😉.

Glad to hear you're feeling better helenandtrevor.

Oneputt have a great time. Husky hope you had a good time, enjoy work - it pays for the trips 😉. How did Mrs Husky manage?

Malcolm sounds like a proper rest day for you. Glad you wife enjoying her home time as well.

I'm wearing a summer dress today as it was a glorious perfect May day here. Still 16c but now full cloud cover and odd spots of rain. Have done and dried two loads of washing. Last load was towels and I've just got them in as the spots were getting good bigger and harder. Naturally having put them on a clothes horse (maiden as my Liverpool friend who's lived north of the border for years calls it) it has stopped even sounding on the conservatory roof.

Been to Lidl and Farm Foods to top up supplies. Feeling on top of getting ready for the off tomorrow. Going to whizz vac around later and do the ironing. Means we have the full selection of clothes to take and clean towels and bedding to return to. 😆. With clothing I suppose it will be a selection for all weathers. We are staying local at Burnham again, this time hoping not to be blown about 😉. Hubby cut the grass this morning so garden looks very attractive.

Post has just arrived with the bank statement so off to double check their entries and mathematics  😉😉.

That's right, Bakers2. The weather has forced a rest day today. My wife is keeping busy in the caravan with food preparation.

Talking about bank statements, I don't get paper statements in the post anymore because of opting to receive them online. So I just log in to my account to read them.

I like to have hard copies to tick off each transaction 😉😉. Takes a long time to earn it and I want to ensure I keep as much as I can for my use no one else's and certainly not paying charges or interest!! Even with my careful watch on transactions OH can sneak in a card transaction I'm not aware of so in my world essential to have a hard copy. Trying to balance against a screen 😲. These days the things that can catch me out are uncashed cheques. Don't use them often and generally these days they seem to be donations in lieu of flowers types 😢.  One from January this year was cashed this month- don't need many of those to upset the applecart and think there's more than there actually is. Besides which any over and above the amount that attracts interest needs moving to somewhere that pays a little 😢😢. In these days of poor interest rates and lots of years of retirement ahead of us every bit must earn to its greatest potential. 😉😉

Pouring with rain here since 4.30. Forgot to mention window cleaner called this morning!

Tricky this housework lark is relentless and not overly interesting as well as being indoors 😔.  You'll be really pleased with your emergency dinners so not time wasted 😉😉.

So many of our garden birds have babies, how busy are the parents? Enjoying watching them from the conservatory still feeding despite the rain. The baby starlings just sit and look so dejected making no attempt to help themselves from the fat ball on the ground that mum or dad is attacking but it's really enjoying being spoon-fed.  No different to human children on occasions 😉😉

    Re bank statements.

Ours are online, but I download and print monthly.  I check our accounts every morning, so I know the data on the computer is up to date.

Today has been the best day of the week so far here in the White Rose county, so we decided to go down to walk around the Bolton Abbey area. Well, by 'eck, those Yorkshire boys know a thing or two about making a few bob don't they? Park at Strid Wood tearooms and walk on what are, when all's said and done, public footpaths? That'll be a tenner please sir! Er ... no thanks. Start from the car park in Bolton Abbey village? That'll be £8 for 2 hours please sir! What ...! surprised

Well us Moonrakers know a thing or two about preserving our assets so instead we drove up to this lovely viewpoint overlooking Lower Barden reservoir, parked there (for nowt! smile ) and started the walk there instead. Added about a mile to the walk and a long climb at the end, but the sun was shining, the curlews were chirring so why not?

It was a lovely walk anyway - probably the best time of year to do it - the woods were thick with bluebells and wild garlic and the trees are just about in full leaf.

Great views along the Wharfs to Garden Tower and to Bolton Priory itself. smile

After lunch, which we had at the reservoir viewpoint we drove to Parceville Gardens near Appletreewick (it's in Gardener's World 2 for 1 offers - more money saved! wink )

They're looking good at the moment, including these stunning blue poppies, these hostas and nicely landscaped grounds. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Now in Italy, where it is dull but warm and humid at present.  Was much nicer when we arrived, sunny and a cooling breeze.  Had a late lunch/early dinner then a snooze to recover from the journey.

We left Switzerland a day early as the site was not that great and also expensive.  Or at least the total cost was.  Site fees 19 euros, local tourist tax another 9 euros (per night)!

At least we got all the washing done and there was enough amps to run the air con.

All the ACSI card sites have been quite busy, lots of Dutch and German MHs plus quite a few caravans too.  We try to arrive as early as possible, to get a pitch before the hoards arrive!

Now we are further into Italy, the price of fuel is a little more reasonable, pretty similar to UK I think.

Our current site is right on the edge of Lake Iseo, only drawback is the adjacent railway line and some road noise.  Hopefully it will be quiet overnight.

OH insists on a hard copy for our main account, but all the others we have paperless.  She also gets all the credit card statements posted out so our daughter can transmit balances and payment dates to us when we are away, just in case we have no internet access at a crucial point.

I also keep a spreadsheet of our main account with all the income and spending filled in ahead for each month, that way we can see when to move out any surplus, or see when we need to top it up to cover large bills.

Any uncashed cheques are a real pain, we had one last year that was never presented but we had to allow for it in the funds, which was confusing!  After a year I removed it from my system.  We do not use cheques much, one or two a year, and never use a debit card, only credit cards, so keeping track is fairly easy.

We had a really lovely afternoon at East Ruston Old Vicarage Garden this afternoon in perfect weather. I took loads of photos but the Wi-Fi here can't cope with me uploading them.  It really is a beautiful garden and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone in the area.

Glad you are beginning to feel better Helen.

Have a good trip Bakers2.  I hope you manage to keep your symptoms at bay.

Looks as though a few of us have been out and about. Enjoyed the pics from Moulesy.

We were at Cannington Walled Gardens, a very old garden formed from a medieval priory where monks and nuns got very friendly "illicit wanderings" was the description used! The presence of a nearby modern day nuclear power company now necessitates a bit more security. We were followed everywhere by a heavily disguised officer......wink

Millie, we are on a CL just outside Ross on Wye. After pitching we went for a walk up May Hill, fabulous views over the Severn horseshoe bends at Newnham towards Bristol, the Malvern Hills from another direction, the Cotswolds and the Brecon Beacons.

Glad Norfolk is giving you its best.  We have been to East Ruston gardens and like you can recommend.

Today the caravan is being brought out of the machinery shed, washed off (very dusty), dewinterised and checked over (a bit) then loaded up with food and drink (especially drink), and all the other stuff we need (not a lot) - then tomorrow we're off up the road to Englethwaite Hall for 3 nights (4 booked as we will be leaving late Tuesday).

As an aside - I noticed on the email confirmation an extra bit - "important information" - where is mentions possible noise from a party at the nearby farm tonight, and diversions on the approach road.

Now I must go shopping and then charge Kindle, phone and I Pad.

Arrived back home yesterday. When we were packing up I realise that although I had positioned the wastemaster I must have been distracted. No need to empty it as for our 5 days on Southport CC it had not been connected! embarassed

I am suffering with lower back pain at the moment. Result of two damaged discs 40 years ago. Somehow managed to antagonise it whilst removing the toilet cassette the night before departure. Started my annual descale of the toilet bowl and cassette yesterday. Trying to talk myself into cleaning the caravan. Can't bend too well and so weeding is out.

The front top edge of the caravan is white with red polka dots from all the fly kills!

We've just finished breakfast and the sun's come out at last!

I had rain all through my shift at work yesterday evening and had to do quite a few deliveries in Shoreham. It was non-stop deliveries right through the 3 hours.

My understanding too Husky. I believe however that a bank may refer to the writer of the cheque rather than simply cashing after a certain period.

A bit of  damper to our holiday as I heard from one of my cousins yesterday that my aunt has died.  The last of that generation.  I was very fond of her.  She had been suffering with Alzheimer's in recent years.  We shall probably be going to her funeral in Kent. I managed to contact one of my other cousins who is on holiday in France to let her know. Isn't modern technology wonderful.

Yes, no limit on validity, though the bank may choose to tell the payee to request a new  cheque, or may contact you to check it is OK to cash it.

We have plenty of credit available, though never go in the red, plus text alerts for low balance and weekly balance texts, so if it is ever presented we will know about it and  be able to top up the account if necessary.  It was only £35 so there would normally be at least that much spare in the account.
