Cost of CMHC sites- Hillhead

Basically the site is generally full so the price must be right. The club know their costs and the3 cost of the location will be high. basically those who feel it is value can use it and those who do not can use Ramslade which is a more typical club site.
All sites have their own cost base and comparing is not easy as no one knows all the facts and costs involved. You all have a choice and go with what suits you.

You are not comparing like for like.
- The two are in vastly different locations
- Hillhead has a pool
- Hillhead has a club house
- Hillhead has superior play facilities
- A serviced pitch at Oakdown is different to a serviced pitch at Hillhead (fully serviced as opposed to ehu)
- Dogs and awnings are free at Hillhead
As I said, compare like for like.
Oakdown £232
Hillhead £327
£14pn for the additional facilities seems reasonable to me.
Better to compare to similar like Whitehill which is closeby who are currently quoting £270 for a NON ELECTRIC pitch.

Well we will certainly consider using the offer later in the year, at those prices. Might just see you on there.

at £20 a night currently, Hillhead is about right in CC terms of value for us.
we havent used any of the facilities....the pool isnt open, we might try the bar later (but our 'imported' Spanish wine is likely to be equally as good and considerably cheaper), we dont have kids, or dogs or use an awning.
I wouldnt consider an extra £14 good value for any of these...
if the bar a restaurant we self funding (or even contributing to keeping overall costs down as some will tell us applies to continental sites with these facilities) then perhaps the pitch prices should be lower?
the New Year price of £33 ish a night is pretty steep.....as is the onsite NY 'special menu'......
ill reserve value judgement on that till later....

Just back from Haven -Hafan-y- Mor. Offers everything a super site does ( if you want it) but if not peace and quiet. Full serviced pitches, Superb toilet block. How much? £11 per night all in. Cheaper and better than any CC site we have used and much better than any Cl in the Lleyn area.

Excellent value. Have you tried to get a quote for the school holidays on the same dates as the OP?

Fisherman, That's because we're all on CL's !
Haven't used a CC club site now in 2 years. The only Club type site that we use occasionally is the C&CC site at Chichester (Southbourne) when visiting our family nearby. Otherwise it is always one of the superb CL's in the CC's book.
Will be leaving the CC when membership expires. Very sad to do that but can no longer afford to keep both clubs going and due to recent changes it has to be the CC which goes. The C&CC has CS's which are similar to CL's. Not so many but enough for our needs.
Best Wishes

yes, Hafan-y-mor would be an eqivalent to Hillhead, similar facilities, both clean and tidy sites in popular locations.
however, out of season (our time) one is half the price of the other.
in peak, i suspect its the other way round, but that is not our concern as i wouldnt visit either in peak.....other than NY at Hillhead

why would i need a special booking? but thanks anyway.
does your 'wink wink' mean you are just 'in the know' or that you'll be here in New Year?
perhaps ill have to alter my booking despite a successful recce

Just playing Devil's advocate here - since Hillhead and Hafan-y-mor are in completely different parts of the country so hardly comparable (no matter how hard some try ), how about this?
7 nights in August, 2 adults + 2 children - Hillhead £372, Hafan-y-mor £498 (with a £26 discount). So almost £20 a night difference!
Mind you, we won't be heading for either!!

yes, the Lleyn Panninsula is particularly lovely
like M, i wouldnt be visiting either (or anywhere else) in August, so the rates quoted mean nothing to me.
the OP queried rates in June
