Just remember hosing down caravans isn't allowed on club sites.

We'll just have to use a sponge then! Anyway, the roof and top windows are now done and those should stay clean after the journey. It's usually the front that gets the worst of the dirt from the road but even that shouldn't be too bad if it stays dry.
The front is easy enough to clean, the roof is the hardest part.

Fair enough Malcolm. You know your own circumstances best. That is why I said what I would do not what you should do.
I employed my wife and only paid the amount covered by her allowance so as to avoid complications, All my additional incomes were paid into a joint account. I do not suggest that such a move would suit.

Well after a strenuous (**) day at N.E.C. yesterday late rising today ( 7:00) then careful couple of hours preparing for the toil ahead !! Got back home after only two hours in the village centre, but feeling oh so light-headed. This means its a gentle snooze after my lunch then I will continue the good work that's only half completed. Then its a break to watch "Goldies" favourite programme, then I'll finish the job & have a Proper Meal Break & attack the puzzle page for a while. After that it will be an early night, and a couple or three chapters on the Kindle before I get a well deserved nights sleep
Brian !!
P.S. (**) The Strenuous day at N.E.C. consisted of the walks from & to car park E4, strolling round the show and checking on the CAMC Stand { Lots of seats and tables for rests & lunches/snacks but no, repeat no CTers could I find }
Edit Oh sorry forgot to say what the "Days Toil" actually involved After every trip to the N E C I brace myself and go for the 6-monthly visit to the BARBER !! Very very stressful, not eased by the trimming of the beard that follows !!

Beautiful day here today, sun shining bit breezy but getting more like Spring. Hygienist appointment this morning, teeth all polished and shining white for another 6 mths. Then up to hospital for chest X ray, pretty sure its all ok now after the pneumonia but Dr wanted one done.
OH out at the village lunch club, they hold it once a month and he helps out when we are around.
I'm sat in the lounge with the sun coming through the windows and my legs are burning, (would put a smiley but they arn't working) think now that I've had lunch I should get changed and do an hour in the garden.
Have a nice time away H&T Ferry Meadows is a nice area but you know that doh!

Wow, what is this rarity I see before me, a lesser spotted post that doesn't mention the "M" word. David Attenborough will be along in a minute to give it a going over.
Nice to see someone's got some sunshine as it has been hosing down here in usually sunny but not today North Wales. More of the same tomorrow I see.
No doing a great deal but catching up with the entertainment section that is our thread on the rebranding.
We have a couple of appointments on Monday and Tuesday next week so will hope to get away on Wednesday for 3 or 4 nights.

Couldn't you have taken the shuttle bus rather than walk from the caravan to the NEC? When we were there in October, we used the shuttle bus service which was free to use and ran quite frequently. You can also use their restaurant for your lunch break. We had fish and chips there.

Two hours have passed and no orders so far, so plenty of rest this afternoon for a change. It's just what we needed as tomorrow will be a busy day with moving sites. Like I said before, this job has its advantages in that we have been able to use those two hours for our own benefit in packing and getting ready for tomorrows move. This is time that I doubt would be allowed to us in any other job. We now have only 4 hours 40 minutes left to work before we finish for the day and might not even have to work that if there are no orders. Then we'll have the rest of the evening to relax, have a drink and meal and an early night before the onslaught of tomorrow's hitching up and travelling to Redhill.

Could indeed have taken the Shuttle bus Malcolm but I prefer to get a good blast of fresh air in my lungs after the drive down the M6 and before the drive back home.
There are many "Eateries" all around the Halls but I always tell folks where I will be at lunchtime** in the hope I will meet and or recognise at least some other CT-ers. Not successful at that really, After the first episode when Rowena had a CT corner, where I met Bugs, DSB Steve (from Solos) and a couple from Peterboro, whose names I never remembered ( ) I have only met Merve and Mr & Mrs Tigerfish.
** I did post that at 1 o'clock +/- 30 mins on CAMC day I would be on and/or around the Stand 2000 area munching/supping on the Artesan coffee bars produce

I have never heard of anybody else that would consider being oncall but unpaid a "perk of the job"
Oh to be a warden with free site fees, both paid for the hours you work, paid holidays, uniform provided and no petrol costs - nah I'd rather deliver pizzas!

, Home early today ,,rained off ,time to catch up with ?? ?? ??.

Are people allowed to be wardens once over 65 years of age. I know one couple we met several years ago said it was his wife that was the warden as she was much younger than him and it meant that they could work for longer in the job. This might have changed since April 2011 when the government relaxed retirement age working rules.

Doris at her worst about lunch time tomorrow here in Notts. I went across to the storage compound this morning to check the steadies on our van were hard down. It is fairly deep gravel and after a few weeks sometimes there is a bit of movement. However everything seemed solid, so now waiting her arrival. She will also cause a problem for our solid fuel heating. As it is fairly warm at the moment it is difficult to get it burning slow enough in very high winds, so the house can get a bit hot, as the excess heat has to go somewhere.

Well my hour in the garden ended up to being over 2 hrs, gonna pay for that tomorrow (my aching back) managed to get 1 big bush pruned back and 3 big heather's all nicely trimmed up. Chippings raked over 2 roses pruned and a cotoneaster. That's one part of the front garden done, the rest is proper borders and grass which is far to soft to walk on. Sun is still out but getting weaker will soon be setting, tomorrows weather is for snow.
Stay safe all those in the path of storm Doris.

I was let loose on the general public today in my new role as a Volunteer Welcomer. I really enjoyed it and met some lovely people. I found the few shifts I did in the Visitor Centre very quiet but there were plenty of people coming into the Cathedral this afternoon. I was surprised at how many different nationalities we had - Hungarian, Turkish, Kurdish as well as German, Polish and Spanish. Also a couple from New Zealand.

OH is doing lots of jobs here KJ, glad to hear yours are progressing well!
Millie, I'm quite envious of you meeting people from all over the world, it sounds very interesting, I wonder how busy it will get as the season warms up?

Sounds great Millie, look forward to hearing all about it on Saturday.

Fairly quiet afternoon at work, probably because the boss is away, it gave me the chance to do the vat return.
Hoping the wind isn't as bad as forecast Glad we are not travelling until Friday.

I must say I have never understood why, if people want a meal, they do not either go and eat in the restaurant, or go and collect their carry-out themselves. As canny (adoped) Scot, I would not be paying extra to have someone else deliver it!
Presumably a different mindset in the south.
Malc.......you would not be buying a Smart if you were not doing delivery work, would you? So you are kind of turning things back to front!
Now you have 2 cars, would your wife not like to learn to drive? The Smart is really easy to drive and putting a learner on the insurance is not too expensive.
It would make life easier for you both if she could drive, and increase her chances of securing paid employment IMO.

Now KjellNN don't you go lumping all southerners together 😣😉 why would you pay someone to deliver food why would I? We have very decent take aways, or as you Scots say carry outs, in our town who will include delivery for free 😆. Now that makes sense to me on the rare occasions we have a take away. I have seen Deliveroo cyclists, how do you keep it hot??? cycling around town including in the pedestrian areas. Doesn't endure them go the locals. But only one person per cycle 😉

We have takeaways who will also deliver for free. We have a good Chinese and an excellent fish and chip shop on the estate, so it's collection for us.😉

Our local weather forecast advised gusts of 70 mph tomorrow, not the best weather for towing.
