Had a nice time at Ferry Meadows, went to the Cathedral yesterday MillieH. Think we will be returning to the area again.
Now at White Water in Middlesbrough, arrived at 13.00 good drive up no delays traffic moving very well.
Its very windy here van getting a bit of a rock on it when it gusts. The site looking good after the new works that went on last year. They have cut down some of the trees that were getting a bit big in the service pitches area. It looks more roomy and brighter now.
Home tomorrow hope the wind and rain isn't to bad on the way up and that the Forth bridge doesn't get shut or its a long way round otherwise.

My bunk was on its own, on one side of the aisle, with one bunk above. There are double bunks on the other which you can book as a double, but they can also have a divider in them and be sold as 2 singles.
Via Trip Advisor, I was aware of this and turned up plenty early enough at the bus station to have a full choice of bunks, you do not book a specific bunk.
However, the bus was far from full, so there was no "bunk sharing" needed by anyone on this occasion.
The width of the bunks seems to be the same whatever layout you get.
Pretty similar to a railway sleeper, though it must be over 40 years since I used one of those.
The flights to London were a good price, but as you said, the hassle and cost of getting into where I needed to be (Belgrave Square), meant the bus was so much more convenient
Only a 10 minute walk from the bus station to the Embassy.

Our family is a bit of a mess when it comes to children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
My second oldest nephew, now 55 , has a daughter, now 32, who is 9 months older than my daughter.
His mother is now a great grandmother, she is only 6 months older than me. The great grandson is now 3.
Our grandchildren (our son's children) are almost 7 and 11, our daughter is 15 years younger than her brother and does not yet have any children. She is the youngest of the cousins.
My sister who is 2 years younger than me has great grandchildren who are almost as old as my almost 7 year old granddaughter.
My grandfather on my dad's side had 13 children, so there was a big age range there to start with, my dad was about in the middle of the age range, but my parents were about 30 before they started having children.

Our back door lock seized yesterday but a nice locksmith called around and gave us some temporary respite then called back today with a brand new part. It was a bit more of a job than just replacing one as the fixtures that receive the lock needed to be moved as the old locking mechanism is now out of date (only 12 years old). Anyway we're much poorer than when we started the day.
Cheered up later on by having lunch with my former co-directors and we had a good laugh and a pleasant lunch made all the more pleasant by having it bought for me. Mind you, it's my turn next time.
Looking at the forecast for next week and think that we might now get away for 4 or 5 nights on a local(ish) CL as my mouth is nearly recovered from the extraction last week. How long does it take to get back to normal? I feel like I've gone 15 rounds in the boxing ring.

Yesterday and today I have been at DD's house for several hours installing wiring for under-cupboard lights in her kitchen.
Previously she had them plugged into nearby sockets, but now she has finally chosen some tiles, the state of the walls is no longer important.
It's a timber frame house, so I had to cut the plasterboard where there was a bit of wood in the way.
4 sets of lights, 3 in the kitchen and 1 in the utility room, controlled by switches that match the fancy socket plates used by the builders.
Looks much neater now!
First lot of tiles, for the utility room, are being purchased this weekend I believe, so that is my timetable for the next few weeks filled up!
One last task before I can go home......fix a loose toilet seat.
We also have a loose one at home, so that will have to be fixed after dinner.

We went to Guys Hospital in London yesterday for my wife's dental appointment. It was much easier this time as we used the Smart car so no problem using the multi-storey car park next door. London Bridge NCP which cost £28 plus £11.50 congestion charge.

Back home safe and sound, had a good trip away. Really liked Chester and Bristol, both new to us so another visit will be on the cards I think. Most of the sites we visited were half or more full, more visitors than when we did a similar trip 2 years ago, great to see folk are getting out and using there units.
We were very lucky with the weather, the first week was very cold but lovely and sunny. The second week and half was a bit milder, the only real rain we had was at Ferry Meadows but only for the morning, we managed to get out after lunch into town and enjoyed that. The drive up today from Middlesbourgh was perfect, the roads were not busy and there was no hold ups, the weather was great blue skies and the wind had dropped.
Van now been emptied and tomorrow I will start the pile of washing, think we are going to be getting a bit of snow in the morning so the shopping can wait until after lunch.

Last walk with the dog over the local estate for a while, 5 miles for us, much further for her, we are taking her back to Peterborough tomorrow and staying overnight to hear about their holiday and celebrate my birthday on Sunday. I can't believe it's a year since we woke up in an idyllic resort in Thailand, I know they say the older you get the faster time goes but this is ridiculous. Almost finished the quiet activity book I've been making for my granddaughter, equal amounts of inspiration and desperation. Only attempted as my daughter showed me a lovely one online. Much watching of ideas on YouTube and fabulous ideas, which were over ambitious . It's turned out OK, but not as I saw it in my minds eye but I am a perfectionist . Biggest decisions were the size of the pages, not one who demonstrated, some were fantastic others reasonable, gave an indication on size. Felt like the first day of spring, which it certainly isn't, but inspired me into wanting to do things and thus I've actually sorted through and achieved loads and even had an unexpected visitor for a cuppa this afternoon.

Thanks, Ian but with the awful weather we've been having over here, there's not a lot to post about! Everytime I leave or arrive on site, I have to hope for the best that the Smart car doesn't get stuck in the mud!

My birthday today Have had a wonderful day socialising with friends during the day and a family meal out this evening.
Glad you had such a good trip Tammy and pleased you visited Peterborough Cathedral. I love the place. We really like Chester as well. We had friends who lived there for a number of years and used to visit often. One of the few places where you can walk completely round the walls.

Happy birthday Millie, glad you had a good day.
The Cathedral was interesting, I liked the whole area around it and see why you love it so much. We were blessed with good weather in Chester so walked all the way round the walls, it was a shame that the tour bus and boat trips are not on at this time of year as we would have done that as well, still good excuse to go back again. I had a good time retail shopping at the outlet center to think it could prove to be a good stopping off point on the way South for the ferry.
Thanks Brue, we did enjoy our travels, its amazing how many folk were out and about especially in Bristol, the site was almost full.

Happy birthday milliehull. Have a lovely day. We are going to have a quiet celebration of our son's engagement today and my birthday tomorrow 😃. Just going to walk the dog, it will be a path walk into town to spend voucher I had for Christmas for cake slices from patisserie Valerie. It was for 4 and they're huge so thought I'd spread the inches to others hips not just mine😂😂😂.
Husky Malcolm posted yesterday on here this thread. 😉

Well YES !! The mechanic came to me yesterday afternoon to sort out the problem. After investigation it turned out to be the 'dump valve' from the boiler letting by under pressure when the pump cuts in.Probably the minus temperatures causing it to jam open .Fortunately he had a new one on board, same valve a 'Truma' one So for a £20 part ,,,all fixed !!He also checked out the "Alde" fluid level ,which was o.k.And had a check round the vehicle too.Terrific mobile service .

Didn't get chance to post yesterday, so just catching up.
Happy Birthday Millie, glad you had a lovely day.
Glad you enjoyed your break and got home safely Tammygirl.
Bakers2 enjoy the cake, and Happy Birthday for tomorrow.
Gosh Malcolm I'd forgotten just how expensive parking is in London, although Oxford isn't far behind.
It's actually dry this morning, although lots of rain overnight.Finished knitting the jumper, so have to sew it up today, quite pleased with it for a first attempt. Probably going to have to clear some space in the garage, for the stuff our son doesn't want to take to Manchester, yet another clear out!
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

We are having a quietish weekend, with only one night out. Husband and son are still working as hard as ever (about 80 hours a week ) but we try to get "off farm " once a week. You can't beat live music to take you out of yourself. The past two weeks we've been to four gigs at The Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal ( just five miles away). All were brilliant , but the last one - Seth Lakeman was outstanding. One was part of BBC Two's Young Folk Awards - ten amazingly talented young acts (and all for £6!).
Tonight we are heading east, across the border into Yorkshire. To Settle to see Steve Knightley (of Show of Hands). We've seen him several times so know it will be a good night.

Weather not as bad as forecast, didn't get snow just a bit of rain which didn't last long. Did the food shopping mid morning, all healthy options we are back on our eating plan after the 2 weeks away where we put on a fair bit of weight. We still hadn't shifted the extra pounds from the cruise/Christmas/New Year, so it will be a very strict 4 weeks before we head off to Lanzarote, if I don't I certainly won't want to be donning short and swimsuits. Does anyone else find that as you get older it takes less to put the pounds on and much harder to take them off. When I was younger I never had a problem, I could eat what I liked and it never made any difference, now all I have to do is think about it and the pounds creep up. So its walking/cycling and the Wii fit everyday, plus no biscuits/cakes/crisps or chips, puddings are out too OH's not going to like it, salads are back on the menu
Happy Birthday Bakers2, can't believe its been a year since you had your significant birthday in Thailand. I think you would like Chester, the town is lovely so really old bridges and buildings, nice and quaint, the retail outlet is defo worth a look.

Goldie, hope you enjoy your music evenings. OH is going to see Steve K locally later this month. He's going with one of our daughters. She bought him a ticket at Christmas. SK used to teach in Dorset and has lots of fans down here!
