Talking to a friend in the village when out on our walk today. She told me that a young couple, recently moved into the village earlier this year had gone out on Christmas Eve, about 3pm, to deliver some presents to their children friends. When they returned to their house they found that they had been burgled with all the presents stolen and the scum had also stolen their car to take them away!

It's the first burglary that I've heard of in years in the village and it's all the more surprising in that they live on the main through road in the village so plenty of people around. I suppose seeing strangers loading presents into a car on Christmas Eve wouldn't be surprising, particularly if you don't know the people who live there in the first place. Lots of strangers around visiting at this time of year.

    Thieves are scum though.

Our day has been the other way round to yours Bakers.  Beautiful sunny morning and then the fog came down.  Yesterday was glorious here and I needed my sunglasses when we went out for a walk. No walk today.  Into town this morning as there are 2 birthdays next week I needed to buy for and didn't  get round to it before Christmas. I managed to get two really nice presents in the sales.smile Indoors this afternoon with the heating and the fire on.

I am always very careful about who I send Christmas cards to JayEss as I really wouldn't wish to offend.  Having said that our Sikh neighbours are always one of the first to give us a card and love to get one in return.

I think we've been celebrating this time of the year long before it was re-invented to stop us roasting each other on log fires. wink

Grandson will be arriving early tomorrow for a short stay. His Mum and Dad are going to a "no children" wedding and dad is also best man, we had a taste of the speech which was very funny. I am conserving some energy this evening, we also have to attempt to pack the van at the same time. I would really like just to loll around for a few days. wink

Fairly lazy day today, just a bit of washing (3 loads) done and now ironed. 2 more loads to do but they can wait another day or so.

Weather still quite mild, had lovely sunshine first thing but clouded over later.

Quick visit to Dr's for both of us to get our chests checked, following chest infections while away, glad to say we are both on the road to recovery no more signs of wheezing and cracklessmile

Eldest son arrived up late on Monday (staying with in laws) coming out to see us tomorrow which just happens to be his birthday!  they've not got long up here as they are going back down the road on the 30th/31st. Hopefully we will get the van back in the New Year and be able to go down to them for a visit.

Oh well - won't be long before next Christmas comes round.

Have you noticed how that time seems to be speeding up as we get older and slower?

It was a lovely sunset here too! I spent most of the day on site and then at 4 p.m. I decided to go for a drive through Long Furlong towards Goring by sea. I saw the sun going down whilst driving along and then drove towards Sea Lane in Ferring. I stopped at the car park on the corner by the beach. There were lots of people out and about walking, many with dogs. The beach looked good too in the setting sun with the blue sea. Then I drove along the sea front from Goring into Worthing. By this time it was dusk and the lights were on in the Worthing sea front. The pier was all lit up too. I got back to the caravan at 5 p.m. and it was almost completely dark by then. It may be cold outside but it's comfortable in the car with the heating on.

It's wonderfully cold and crisp here. I've not been out far as we have a houseful of family, but my daughter took this yesterday afternoon.

Very cold and frosty this morning,  sun is shining though. smile

House very quiet now, OH has been signed off from work, but my cold seems to be clearing up now. Popped down into town, needed some more bird food, everywhere was very quiet.

Going to have to sort out the fridge, seems to be very full of leftovers,at least we won't go hungry. laughing

We have had 3 days of leftovers and the fridge is now looking empty.  Not going to bother much with food for New Year, trying to use up all the bits we have in the freezer as defrosting will be due soon.

Going to DD's tomorrow to do some stuff in her kitchen, and discuss how many tiles she will need for it.  Some electrical stuff to do first, so she needs to order the bits.

Looking for an invitation to DS's place to see their revamped lounge and dining room as there was only the new carpet in place last time we were there.

Hinted at dinner on the 1st, but seems they may be going out.

Lovely day clear skys, but was dodgy underfoot with black ice when walking into town, where trees had dripped after yesterdays fog,OH to docs as still not well ,not helped when he says there are more and more people having  illness that are not being able to get a diagnosis for,so its back to the drawing board again

JVB, hope your OH will get a bit more help with that, with surgeries shut down for holidays this is never an easy time of the year to be ill.

Today I have been v busy with v lively grandson. just having a few minutes peace with some children's TV! wink

Thanks, we are lucky as our surgery in the village is very good with quite easy access (for these day)with mostly very friendly and helpful doctors, with receptionists who are also helpful , also a lot of the "retired" doctors still do locum work there, the doctor OH saw today was  the son of one of the original brothers who ran the practice ,when the surgery was also their house, when kiddy winks were young(in their late forties now)while waiting to see one of the brothers, they were often taken into the garden where there would also be sick wildlife(proper country docs)

Its a bit worrying when the doc says that there are more and more illness they cannot get a diagnosis for
