Highjacking Topics

has anyone stayed at the borrowdale cc site recently, is the access through grange village still bad due to parked cars ??

It's an old chestnut, Farmhouse. Sometimes it matters, sometimes not. 

Usually the nitty gritty of the topic is covered before it goes OT but not always. 

You can try the report button. Sometimes it gets a result, sometimes not.

it was my way of using humour to outline that it is impossible to stop conversations moving along naturally it is how conversations are.

I meant no offence but I do think it is in many ways a pointless post which was bound to become a post full of tongue in cheek replies with or without my input. If we were to stay totally on topic on every post how boring  would it be and how many interesting
debates would be missed.

anyway my apologies if I caused offence.

Actually, I was only thinking this morning how CT had seemed to settle down again this week with far fewer argumentative and insulting posts (even with a smiley at the end, an insult is an insult and has no place on the forum IMHO!) and far less hijacking
of threads. So maybe a temporary lull or maybe a sign that we're moving ahead (or back) into the friendly, positive forum CT has always had the potential to be. We can but hope.

Sorry, spk, but it wasn't a pointless post. It was about a subject of concern to the OP. Whether you or I are bothered by threads bring dragged OT is beside the point. The OP felt strongly enough about it to start a thread and
deserves, in my opinion, to be taken seriously without being ridiculed.

this is the problem with forums and that is that in real life you generally socialise with people with the same humour and outlook there fore you know the boundaries. With forums you be yourself and accept that some will not "get it" this is no concern to
me I have broad shoulders, you are assuming the OP has taken offence but without a reply you do not know if that is the case. furthermore if I was the OP I would be insulted by the fact that other people seemed to think that I needed there assistance in dealing
with my own thread.

I assume nothing, spk, and don't presume to speak for the OP. I have stated my view. Nothing more, nothing less. No analysis of humour or human nature, just the situation as I see it.

"Conversations" naturally drift just as they do in the real world. Easy to bring it back on track again by any poster who wishes to. I have noticed however when they do this, its usually ends up with themselves interrupting the new natural flow and the thread just dies.

unacceptable. I therefore conclude that miserable folk are out numbered by those of us with humour. Thankfully.

It is quite apparrent that many members of this forum have had a sense of humor bypass.

It depends what weight you place on Likes, spk, and whether you consider who's gone the liking.

yes your right I think with hindsight that remark was not worded very well and I do sincerely apologise to the op for that. what I meant was pointless in as much that one cannot stop conversation's going off topic its just the way humans interact.
