I remember the time when you went into a shop and everything on display was Made in England. It was all better quality stuff as a result of that!

I remember dipping my wooden handled pen into Quink ink and later on refilling my fountain pen with it.

I recall that in my early banking days that a using a biro was practically a hanging offence.

I remember when you had to wear a suit to go out in the evening to a night club or at least a jacket and tie!

I remember having to go and get the coke from the gas works. We had an old pram that we took and, after queuing up behind folk with various containers, we positioned it under a chute where a man pulled a lever to fill the pram. I then had to push it home
but luckily that was only one block away. By eck, life was tough.

Write your comments here...we did that too. I had a trolley ( you'd probably call it a buggy) it was made out of bits of wood and pram wheels. My brother and I used to go down to the gas works on a Saturday morning. The hard part was the steep uphill pull
    on the way back.

I remember the rag and bone man coming round on his horse and cart, just like Steptoe and Sons. I remember the pig man coming round for the "Swill", food left overs. I remember the man on his bicycle with a grind stone on the front who would sharpen your
knives. I remember taking bottles back to the shop and being given money for them. I remember taking old clothes and newspapers to the marine stores where they would weigh them and give you money.

    Recycling, huh.

I remember a story about a pig man. It was about a child who was afraid of the pig man because he imagined that the man was half pig and half man until one day he discovered the truth.
