Ha! The comic has just arrived.

    Page11

"Daily exciting new content" (on Facebook)

"Exclusive competitions" (only for Facebook users)

    "special member offers"

"Did you know?" Section. (Not writing it all out, have a look)

Try asking "how did you know?"

Answer, Data Harvesting . Psst. Wanna buy some info?

    M'lud I rest my case.

Not happy the club is discriminating between members like this. I pay the same membership fees.

It's nothing new. "Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what youhave whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops."

Ah Peedee, I owe you for that awning pole you gave me.  Send me your bank details and I'll forward you the money!

Oh wait - I have them here on the cheque you sent me.

Agree with that Kgas provided members who all pay the same are not disadvantaged by choosing not to be on TwitFace

What about members who do not have a computer and cannot access this forum. They pay the same.

To be honest, I wasn't sure how to take criadon's post. I thought it was tongue in cheek so I responded in a similar vein.

Looking again this morning I am now not so sure so here is the less flippant answer.

There is no discrimination to members (AFAIK) who do not use CT. No special offers, no extra competions and no special treatment. If they were I would offer exactly the same argument that I have against the club's use of Facebook. We all pay the same so we should all be treated the same.

It's entirely up to the individual if they wish to participate in FB or not, it's the club discriminating against those who choose not to that I am banging on about.

Apols to cariadon for my naughty answer if I did miss read his post yesterday.

There cannot be many members without access. The Club must have a pretty good idea of the situation and cannot ignore technology just because a few don't have access. Did someone on another thread say its the majority that matter not the few who complain on here. Smile

I dought there are many members without access to the Tinternet but there seems to be a quite high proporsion who have no intention of having to be bombarded with junc from Twit FaceUndecidedFrown

As my original post was closed due to duplication, but no indication of where the existing thread was (the only competition  thread I could find is already closed), I'll post this here but it'll probably be lost in such a generic thread:

Does anyone else feel annoyed that the Facebook launch competition from the Caravan Club excludes huge swathes of the membership?

To celebrate the launch of the Facebook page, the Club are offering a £10,000+ all expenses rv'ing trip to New Zealand. Sounds fantastic.

But it's set departure and return dates, for 2 adults, for 38 days, and in under 2 months time! And it includes a year's Club membership if you're not already a member.  So not restricted to members either.

So no good for families, or those who work. Why couldn't the competition have been more inclusive, and offering, say, travel to NZ and rv hire up to a cost of £8k or so, with a partner travel agent and subject to availability.

Then a family could have gone for 2-3 weeks with the kids in the school holidays, or a working couple for 3 weeks next year once they had time off arranged, etc.

    Thoughts?

I noticed on the closed thread, that word soon is mentioned again in relation to the new improved CT. The dictionary defines soon as
In or after a short time. So all we need now is a definition for a short time.

It better be the bees knees after all this delay or the will come in for a lot stick. Even in this form it is better than the C&CC's.

Probably they got the holiday dirt cheap or free as a quid pro quo on some other publicity. As such it would come with strings  and hence they would not have the freedom to do as you ask.

Given the Luddite IT tendencies of the majority of the membership based on the involvement on CT, how many are going to engage with CC on Faceache? Vey few I would guess. The extremely short lead in time to the actual prize makes it virtually worthless to
    the majority as well.

Well as the contest has been viewed 43,700 times I think we can say that guess was wrong.
