The Caravan Club is coming to Facebook

I too would ideally like a reply but Rochelle cannot really be expected to come on here and say the Marketing Manager has goofed.
But he /she has, big time.
I've thought of a solution, Fysh. Let everyone have two chances of winning. People can enter twice by whatever means and then it becomes fair.
PS. Did you notice that if a non-member wins they also get a year's membership thrown in as part of the prize?

I would rather there was a senior management meeting that recognised they will lose more members than they will gain alienating customers by treating them unequally and unfairly.
Yup, but that might be to comply with the various regulations surrounding competitions.

That's uncalled for, Husky!
It's not 'me', any debate (not squabble) is on behalf of all of us.

I don't think they should run competitions on Facebook as they changed the terms during this one and announced winners two days before the end date. Also appear to have awarded a prize to one person on the wrong post.
It's a bit like a primary school sports day only not as well organised.
I've stopped following the page now.

It's not about competitions HD, its about the club beginning a process that could eventually (if not nipped in the bud) end up with members feeling they must join Facebook in order to fully partake in the club.
It's competitions and some special offers now but how would you feel if sometime in the future Facebook members were offered a free night on a club site if they "liked" something on Facebook? Would that be fair? How about priority booking a day earlier in December if you book through Facebook? I will stop there in case somebody at EG thinks "thats a good idea".
Lets send the signal now in no uncertain terms that we want a level playing field for ALL members.

Oh Lordy. Now I'm frightened to join the Facebook thingy in case I win a free night on a Club site. Don't want that at all - would they make me go?

I don't think they would ET.
I didn't stop following it because of the competition issue or the dubious draw. It's just boring. Most Facebook business pages are but there are other more interesting caravan related pages.
For example on one I have just learned that the stench of cannabis near the toilet block on the Southport site is unpleasant

Ooh Jayess, stop trying to tempt me.

I don't want Facebook, I dislike Facebook intensely and I will not be forced to use it on the whim of some person within the Caravan Club 'hierachy'. Personally I very much hope it is 'nipped in the bud' because the fad will be of little, if any, interest
or use to a significant number of longstanding members. So often in these days of 'enlightenment' it is presumed , as it happens very unsafely, that some members a) have internet access; and b) sufficient knowledge (and ability) to use it.

Hi Rochelle
Thanks for taking the time to answer. I am happy with that. I hope the club realises that a level playing field is what many members are concerned about.
If someone wants to be on Facebook then that's their business but those who choose not to be should never be disadvantaged.
I assume there is no chance someone could enter via Facebook and again via the Magazine? That would clearly give the Facebook user a considerable advantage. Could you confirm please?
Hi Fysherman,
As they are seperate competitions you are more than welcome to enter both if you wished
Er, that means Facebook users can have two bites at the cherry and that's unfair. Can you see my point? Don't have to reply to that Rochelle but you might kick the problem upstairs and let the managers have a think about what they are doing?
Exactly so, Fysh.
Rochelle, why should FB users get twice the opportunity of the rest of us? We are becoming second class members and equality is rapidly going out of the window. Please will you bring this to the attention of Nick Lomas.
Unlike Fysh, I would like to see a reply here - a meaningful reply from the top, that is.
Come on Rochelle let's have fair play.

Well I am happy that the Caravan Club has come to Facebook. I use both Facebook and Twitter extensively. I would've entered the New Zealand competition but I can't go on the dates set so that's my tough luck. Those are the terms and conditions. I have
better things to do than come on here and keep complaining about it.0 -

The way i see it is ,the CC are having a competition on Facebook ,i dont use Facebook, thats my loss.........
+1
It is not really a lot different to other businesses that offer advantages for new customers only. It is just a fact of modern marketing life. I have no intention of using Facebook, but a lot of CC members probably do. In the scheme of things it is not unreasonable
of the club to encourage this minority, or possibly majority.0 -
May I just ask those users of FB who say that they use it to keep in touch with 'friends'.......are you aware of such things as e-mails, text messages, telephones......and letters? Oh, and as a last resort, are you aware that you could actually meet some real people?

real people?Write your comments here...so last week, we had a bbq,15 friends, everyone invited by fb msg, everyone replied, everone saw everyone else's reply, discussed who might bring things along, and what, and what time they might arrive... Of course I could have
done it bt 15 texts or 15 emails or 15 letters.... Are you serious? ;-)0
