Given how long it is taking for the new forum to materialise, it would tend to suggest that the CC are exploring other avenues. If this is the case, I for one will not be bowing out, as I have no intention of letting Facebook anywhere near any of my IT
devices...And here

The club should make any competitions available to all members
Don't agree with this at all.
They have. However, just like any other competitions there is a challenge, task or puzzle to sort out. In this case it's getting to the facebook page. Like any other competition you either solve the challenge and make an entry or dont. Your choice.

Hi everyone,
I’d like to address the concerns that Facebook will be a replacement for CT, this is not the case! Facebook is another channel to offer you more choice in how you connect with The Club. If you have any questions as to how Facebook works or how you can get
involved, please let me knowAs for the questions already asked, a timeline is the news thread on the Facebook page. To enter the competition you need to find the Club Together post in the timeline, and comment with #sitenightvoucher.
So is the current CT software still due to be replaced as oft promised then? If so when please?

No they haven't. They have made the competition open only to CC members who are also Facebook members and, in doing so, have disqualified CC members who (for whatever reason) object to having to put up with the downsides of being a Facebook member.

Hi Graham,
Yes we are working hard to get the new CT software up and running. We will let everyone know when we have an official launch date.

As the competition is purely a means to encourage people to join in with the caravan club on facebook why would it be open to people not on facebook? Cannot understand people getting upset over this you either want to be on facebook or not the choice is yours, all the club are doing is trying to raise their profile.

Not upset in the slightest (takes a bit more than this)
However, the club takes a membership fee each year from everyone, therefore it is not unreasonable to expect everyone to be able to enter club competitions without having to submit first to a third party data harvesting commercial company with dubious ethics.

Hi Rochelle. The 'house rules' on the FB page say no links to websites. Does this include links to CL websites/Facebook pages? Are we not allowed to post/advertise/promote/talk about our CLs on the new Facebook page?

Thank you Rochelle.
I only returned to CT a few weeks ago (when alerted to a particular thread) having dumped it about a year previously because so many assurances of working software had proved false.
Knowing, from experience, that the period I had been away was easily long enough for the CC to have implemented software that works properly I had hoped to have seen that happen. It has been disappointing that such is not the case.

Is the competition really, really hard like the crossword?

And will it have as many errors?

Whether people like Facebook or not is neither here nor there. It has to be recognised that it is a very important means of modern communication and a way of communicating with thousands of people who would otherwise turn their backs on traditional ways
of communication. Should the Club ignore this just because a proportion of it members don't like, don't understand it or are even frightened of it? Of course it shouldn't, it needs to use every avenue possible to reach out to widest audience possible. I am
surprised it has taken them son long!!!David

totally correct David. At last some common sense,

It seems as though this topic, if run as an opinion poll, is definitely leaning towards No to FB
I am not so sure, I have just had a look on FB and so far, at the moment, 131 people have liked the page so that they get CC posts on to their timeline.
Edit : ( the CCC FB page which has been going much longer has over 60,000 followers )

..........and so am I David. But like a lot of things with the club they seem to spend an age on making a decision.
Like everything with technology those that don't, won't or can't will get left behind but will eventually pass on and so the problem won't exist.

I don't disagree David. It is just that I have no intention of ever using it. It is fine for those that like it. I must admit though, I do find it a little annoying that a few organisations have dropped email as a means of communication. They seem to be
going the same way as CD's.0 -

What the club should be doing is offering a level playing field to all it's paying members.
Otherwise, special offers etc will only be for those on the facebook site.
Oh, I see it has already begun.
