Cheers, hope the dogs ok with the fireworks.
Sadly not had the dog for 18 months, son settled in house with girlfriend and reclaimed her . Little b****r settled in without issue ungrateful little Darling . But yes she was /is great with them!
Sorry Bakers, thought you still had the dog quite a bit. My dog was scared stiff of the whizz bangs, poor little might used to shake and try to hide from them.
She's back for Christmas and since they off to Oz and NZ for a month we have her until they're home and resettled . Naturally it'll be dark wet cold etc for walking but that'll remind us of the downside

Just finished a Fiordilatte delivery and now it's gone quiet at last. Anyhow, this afternoon we went to the EE store and got the problem fixed. So now I can use 3G through a new sim card as well as the mobile wifi. Then we went to Marks and Spencer where

Noticed a shop in Broadway advertising half price fireworks. I assume that people don't save them for a year, so this must only encourage further use of incendiary devices outside of 5th November.
The sooner they are banned the better.

Kj the soup we didn't like was Leek and Potato, my 'homemade' sounds a bit like yours, been making it for as long as I can remember but it tastes differant everytime

never tried Butternut squash, once tried sweet potato with a meal but didn't like that either. What's it like in soup?Thanks Millie, still in shock

If you like parsnips then you should like sweet potato. They are both slightly sweet and probably a bit of an acquired taste.
A bit less bland than ordinary potato I think, when mixed with other things ithey are not too strong.
We do like roasted sweet potato, also celeriac which we only tried recently. And parsnips are delicious, not something we get in Norway. We also like turnip and swede, OH did "bashit neeps" the other day.
We both love all sorts of vegetables, but OH is limited in what she can eat due to her digestive system, so making them into soup is ideal for her.
I just prepare all the veggies and cook them up with a chicken or vegetablxe stock, but roasting them first sounds like a good idea, will add more taste. Then I liquidise them and add a little milk if it is too thick.

Some of the shops in the Worthing town centre are already full of Christmas things to buy and we have seen some houses have already got their outdoor display of Christmas lights.

When we were away in the van in September, we found quite a few shops were getting out their Christmas stuff....we bought some reduced Christmas cards!

Don't need to be so early these days. The fly. Last date for parcels to NZ 10 Dec. If I post cards for birthday they can arrive within one week. Record 4 days .
That said my parcel went last week and I spent this afternoon writing our Christmas cards. Need to use next grey day for cake and puddings

Today I saw a guy trying to sell Xmas trees from a large trailer parked in a lay-by.

When we were away in the van in September, we found quite a few shops were getting out their Christmas stuff....we bought some reduced Christmas cards!

Actually only a very small cost saving in sending by ordinary rather than air mail these days, especially on cards.
Postage has increased massively in the last 5 or so years, we have stopped sending cards to most of my family in Norway, only one to an aged aunt who is in an old peoples home.
Otherwise we send a "news letter" to family and friends abroad and here by e mail as far as possible, and cards with a little note to those not on the web.
We used to send gifts to my sisters, and their children when they were little, but sense has prevailed now. We all already have far too much "stuff", we really do not need to exchange presents any more.
Instead, we spend a lot of time chatting on Skype.

Should I get a cancellation it will be with a young lady dentist, who I've not yet met, who'll be doing the work.
Went own that route some years ago NTH when my dentist died in a car crash.
Turned up { half way thro' a course of treatment } to be met by a very nice red head
. She carried on as usual, chatting to her assistant " two of sand one of cement etc" then said --"Its hard
coming back like this, got home yesterday with two squealing tots and not a clean nappy in the house"To which I tried to reply " Het yr andth out off me mouff" but the wedge and the jabs made sure I could only bat my eyes !! Brian
Don't think that I'll have that problem should I get in to see her. Both the new dentists are not long out of college and due to get married soon, so I would think that there's no children yet.

A lazy day. Fine in the morning so a couple of odd jobs on the van and a dry walk with ?Flyte. The afternoon and evening was devoted to Rugby, first the highlights of rugby league's Scotland's draw with NZ, and then both the full RU games Scotland/Australia
& Wales/Argentina followed by the highlights of England/SA. Finished off the day with listening to Wales/Serbia world cup qualifier. All this excercise has tired me out!! Time for last walk and then bed.Yawn!0 -

Very sensible KjellNN. I put all our family cards mum ours and son in envelope with gift cards for money which I transfer into daughters UK bank, she withdraws $ out there, either buys gifts or puts in money envelope. If I find something flat as a gift I'll
include provided it's light enough. This year daughter got m&s underwear, shes biught her hubbys from us out there. I found Christmas tree decs for granddaughters with their initials on thanks John Lewis, hopefully a reminder of grandparents for years to come.
I still have a red plastic bell with white rabbits head and blue eyes from my Nan 60 years on. First thing into the tree . Postage is ridiculous compared to a few years ago.0 -

tried Celeriac. Loved the 'bashit neeps' when we moved to Scotland 1966 we couldn't understand why they called them neeps because to us they were swede, turnip being white, but you get used to it and we now refer to them as neeps. Not one of the vegs we eat
other than in soup or with Haggis of course. When we got married OH would only eat processed peas, its took me years to get him to eat veg. He still won't try brussels or cabbage. I've come across a Spicey Roast veg soup that sounds nice, I will post it in

ADD46, trying to fit everything in is always a challenge, doesn't change even when you retire, goodness knows how we ever found time to go to work
