B D actually Millieh!!
And thats "Bloomin' Dentists" Mutter, mutter, grumble, grouse !!
Saw Dentist today, ( another locum ) and he took another x - ray of a different tooth from a different angle, and gave
a definitive verdict -- 'thats til I see him again next week I suppose. So now I have to wait for an appointmet from hospital for the extractions ( locum turned nearly as pale as yours truly when he saw 'em ) and until then I just have a Thursday appointment for remedial work on 'non-removable'
fangs, plus the usual sandblasting & plumbing in. Ah well, looks like Scotland might have to wait a year. The good side is if I don't go north, I should get to the N.E.C. Cheese Festival !! oops, wrong smiley
face there -- too many teeth so here goes again !!0 -
Thanks all for the good wishes for Flyte. He seems to be much better today. However we nearly lost him this afternoon! We parked
up by Clatteringshaw Dam and went for a second walk, having visited Bruce's Stone this morning. On returning to the car I got in while OH was sorting things out in the back. When she got in we drove off and then realised, after nearly a mile that the rear
hatch door was open. Stopped the car to find that Flyte was no longer there!! Immediatetly
turned round and returned to our parking spot where thankfully he was wandering around looking a bit confuse, poor thing. The experience didn't do a lot for OH's blood pressure.0 -
ABM, Perhaps the delay in your travels north won't be too bad, and you could arange it for next year. The leaves are already turning up here in D&G and if the wind's as bad a forecast this weekend there won't be many left on the trees for you to see, had
you come next month.0 -
You're not the only one to have done that sort of thing Nellie! The one and only time we actually had a brand new van we were so concerned about getting everything hooked up correctly and off site that we drove off and left poor old George lying on the pitch attached to his corkscrew! Fortunately we didn't get that far before realising our mistake!
PS - glad Flyte seems to be on the mend!

At least he was attached. I'd taken Flyte's lead off when he's jumped in and he was just stood by the road side looking around for the car. Fortunately he'd not run after us as there were a few cars about.
Thanks to both of you for your good wishes for him.

Tried it once before but got the places wrong altho' the timing was right. saw lots of trees but no colour changes to be seen -- I'd ended up amongst loads of =====, =====, pine trees !

Gas man turned up at 12.30, so much for him saying he'd be here in the morning! At least no problem with the boiler and
I can get on with some other jobs no he's gone.0 -
I went out to the car this morning to find the boot wide open. I'd left open all night from about 6 o'clock last evening
Hope you didn't have the rain we had overnight, or you could have had a bath in there.

Thanks H, but he seems fine now but maybe still a bit tired. Glad that the man came eventually and all was well.

Yesterday we drove down the coast, stopping at a couple of lovely seaside towns (Villier sur Mer and Carbonne). Had our lunch sat on the sea front in the sunshine.
Today we spent most of the day wandering around Honfleur. It was market day and the stalls are spread through the streets all over the town.
We had lunch overlooking the river. It was really hot and sunny.
For years we have been to Cornwall at this time of year, but decided to have our French break in September this year. The weather has certainly been better, but maybe it's also good in Cornwall this year?

Tow car developed a problem on Thursday afternoon. Driving along the parkway and it started an alarming wobble. Apparently it was the calipers. Having payed a fairly hefty bill it is now sorted. It has not been a good week one way and another. Spent today
catching up with jobs in the house and garden. Great weather for gardening. Hope everyone away or going away has a good time.0 -
Have had to alter our plans as our Alde heating stopped working about 9.30pm last night, only noticed when it got a bit chilly in the van.
Control panel is dead as is boiler. Found one fuse on boiler blown, have replaced it and tried emergency start, but no luck.
Suspect it could be a problem with the PCB in the boiler.
Have rung a few engineers on Alde's list, but only answering machines. Probably we have more chance of finding someone to come out to fix it here in York than at home, so not rushing home yet.
Have arranged to stay here 2 extra nights meantime, and cancelled our 2 other sites. We have a fan heater so will not freeze, just not so good with no hot water in the van. Very close to the facilities block, so not too far to go to the dishwashing area,
and close to disabled shower room for OH.0 -
Had lunch with friends to celebrate a 70th birthday at a pub. The part we were sat in was used as a dungeon for prisoners during the Napoleonic wars. The food was better than I suspect it was then.

Just taken Harry & Lady down the road to their temporary holiday home (one advantage of keeping well in with ex students! )
Also done dad's shopping, off out for lunch with the old boy later.
Then packing (aaagh!) ready for a very early start tomorrow for our Canadian adventure - may have to give CT a miss for a couple of weeks!
