Nice sunny weather but quite cool in the shade. First day of Autumn but we've done well so far. A field of maize by us has been cut, we can now see our view again. Looks like the potatoes will be next, these go into your crisp packets (beginning with a W
Wink) rock hard potatoes that slice thinly, horrible to eat if we pick up a few left overs!

Spent this morning cleaning the outside of the caravan before taking it in to have the little bits or warranty work done this afternoon.

    David

DSB...Does yours have the tall fridge?there is a problem with quite a few over cooling , when staying at last site we called Dometic out ,and two others on site jumped in and the two engineers ended up sorting three of the same fridge out, it seems that
the gas valve is at fault, ours seems fine now since it was changed

Not had a problem with the tall fridge cooling, JVB, but we only use it on electric - seems fine.

    David

...Its the "faulty "gas valves that cause the problem as it overides the thermostat because on gas the thermostat is inoperative,we only use ours on electric, but what the engineer did say was to use gas for a day now and again to keep it "active" as if you
do not it could "fail" with debris when you need it with a power failureWink

I'll have to try it next time we're out

    David

similarly, you should use your hot water and heating on gas from time to time, other wise you'll get the same 'i never use it' problems......

    Thanks BB.  Will do!

Thank you everyone. Mr H seems fine today. I managed to make him take it easy until lunchtime and then he decided he wanted to potter in the garden but I wouldnt let him do too much just yet. I will feel happier when he has had another BP check with GP next
    week.

Best wishes for MrH, Millie.  Sorry to hear he's been unwell.

We've been to collect our caravan from having warranty stuff done.  All completed except two things - waiting for a letter E to come (which we lost at some stage on our travels) and a replacement washroom tap, which is faulty.

Bit damp and drizzly this morning,  but sunny and warm by lunchtime,  bit of retail therapy before work, bought some new winter boots. Smile Moved
the caravan so OH could put my little car in the garage, over the pit. Can still smell petrol, but can't find the problem!  Undecided Really
    annoying!

Millie: Good to hear Mr H is feeling better, keep him on light duties only.

Had the meeting with " Natural England" We seem to have put across our objections to 'ramblers' or 'Joe Public' being given free riegn over our private road & plots etc .MAYBE !! We'll have to wait now for the official report, and to be sanctioned by government

Today we went to walk over the Pont de Normandie.

I had it in my head that there was a car park just before the toll booths.......but it was just after the toll booths on the far side, so we had to pay Sad

Anyway, we walked along the full length of the bridge and back. The mist cleared as we got to the top (it's very high at mid span) and there were some great views.

Decided to drive into Le Havre afterwards (seeing that we'd paid the toll anyway!) and it lived up to all our expectations - a large, unattractive town, dominated by the port.

I'm no expert, but don't you have to get the council to deal with official footpaths?

Our airfield has one running down the side of the main runway for some bizarre reason. Most distracting when landing and  someone is walking down it with a wayward dog, off the lead!

Lovely weather again today, warm and sunny with a gentle breeze. Busy doing 2 loads of washing, all out dried and ironed. Then it was packing the suitcases and making sure they are not overweight, only 2 more sleeps and we are off. The weather here the last
2 weeks has been great, just a shame we haven't been able to get away in the van. Hope all those out and about are enjoying themselves.

Write your comments here...Yes ,Ian ,we have K.C.C to look after footpaths .BUT ,,," Natural England " have a remit to give access to ALL the British coastal regions !! In other words ,a rambler/walker could wander the whole of G.B via the NEW & existing
coastal routes. Our brief is to keep them OFF our private road & areas ,due to boat/crane/machinery etc movements (dangerous) also our tidal movements mean any time day or night .Then there is the security angle too .Theft from boats & property etc .If tresspasers
ar'nt allowed near our plots/property etc and diverted via a local " Saxon Shore Way" ,then our area SHOULD be safer & better protected .We fight on !!  !!Wink.

Weather's been a bit mixed over the last couple of day, with some rain showers. In fact it's just started to rain now. Had to take Flyte to the vets in Castle Douglas today as he'd not eaten anything for 36hrs. However just before we went he was violently
sick and it seems that that's helped to clear a blockage. He'd had a plunge into a very peaty puddle, and had drunk a fair bit of it, earlier in the week and the vet thought that it had caused the problem. So following an injection, and a hefty bill, he's
managed to eat a little this evening, and is keeping it down, so here's hoping that all's well again.

Nothing cheap at the vet's, Nellie. Hope Flyte's on the road to recovery, such a worry with pets...

If  all  goes  as  well  as  I  hope  it  won't  spoil  my  plans  for  3  weeks  in  Scotland  next  month  !!

Perhaps  this  time (!!)  I'll  get  to  see  some  trees  in  Autumn  colours,  unlike  my  last  trip.  Then  I'd  got  everthing  worked  out  except  the  forests  I  was  going  to  were  90%  pines  of one  sort  or  another  so  very  little  change  to be  seen  Yell

An early start today. I make a loaf overnight in the bread maker, so it's ready to take out when my husband gets up at 5. But last night I forgot the yeast, so there's a heavy lump in the bottom of the tin. I got up and put a "quick loaf" in so it'll be
    done by 8 for breakfast.

There's no point in going back to bed so I'm cracking on and trying to get ahead.

There will be more Extreme Paperwork later today, making sure all our record keeping (especially the medicine records) are in order for our Soil Association inspection soon. Organic farming is not just cute animals and pretty meadows - there are  extensive
    Paper Trails.

Then a rapid whizz round the house before our visitors arrive.

A bit of preparation for 3 night break away (Englethwaite Hall) next week.

And finally, into town for a meal before the first of our "season" of gigs, Eliza Carthy & The Wayward Band.

a furniture delivery from M&S (sideboard) at 6:45 this morning!

we were in their first 'slot' 7am-9am but come on....

however, now no need to be waiting about, very nice chaps for that time of the day...

also, gasmen finished the 'in house' elements of the pipe replacement process with the garden being fully restored...

looks as though no-one had even been there, good on them...Happy

Have a good time TG, Goldie and others, we're looking forward to a short break. We'll be wending our way northwards next week, up to the Scottish Borders, over to North Berwick and then back home with just an overnight stop. Would like a bit longer but just
    glad to get away. Smile

Best wishes to Flyte for a full recovery.

Been walking in the hills today. Too hot this afternoon to do much but managed an ice-cream. May chance a beer later.

Most campsites winding down and lots close on 30/09. This one open until second week in October but we leave towards middle of next week.

Seem to be back to my usual busy Thursday's, Friday's, Saturday's and Sunday's.

Just got in after taking the Tamworth U3A Choir practice -lovely group of folk.  A couple of hours break for a sit down and tea, then out at 6pm for Abbey Choir Practice.  Back sometime between 10-11pm.  Then I think it's wine time.
