Nellie, OH climbs on the roof of our van and gives it a good dooing at the begining of the season and again at the end, the rest of the time its just the sides and cab that get a wash.
TG, I clean the van from top to bottom, and throughout after each trip.... that's just my way. I can manange to reach across the roof from the top step of my steps, but would not try to climb off them onto the roof.
Apologies Nellie, I didn't mean my post to sound criticising

Was supposed to be nice today, but this morning was dull and windy. Some sun later.then a downpour at around 5pm.
Did some sealing under the windows, but no painting....fortunately.....the rain would have damaged it.
Instead I made a new foot for the ladder, repaired the pull-out baskets in the wardrobe as they kept falling out of the runners (OH has been overloading them), and replaced the broken cord on one of the blinds.
OH has spent her free time looking at MHs online, so tomorrow we just might go to a dealer for a look.

When we had motorhomes we both used to climb on the roof to give it a really good clean but we can't do that with the caravan so it is a step ladder and a long handled brush. Unfortunately because of the pigeons we have to clean the sky light more frequently
- sometimes mid trip - can't cope with looking up and seeing lots of pigeon droppings on it.0 -
We have had 2 of our grandsons most of the week to make working life easier for son and DIL. We have had a great time with them but feeling slightly exhausted now. However we need to crack on with lots of the jobs in the house and garden that have been left this week. At least it is slightly cooler so good weather for housework and gardening.

Terrific thunderstorm and heavy rain here now. Luckily most of the gardening was finished before it arrived. I want to give the conservatory a good clean but I am not sure I can cope with all the rain hammering on the roof and the thunder and lightening. Mr
H has decided to watch the rugby as he can't do any more gardening.0 -
Been a good day here so far weather pleasant to be working outside. Had Mum for a few hours, she's still very stiff and not walking properly yet. Youngest son due to arrive later with some things he wants us to look after while they move to Malta, its getting
close now only 3 more weeks then they will be off. OH has started yet another cull of his shed in prep of his new one coming. We seem to have done nothing but clear things up and trhow things away, where does it all come from.0 -
Have heard thunder rolling around in the east, the Dorset Steam Fair will be in that direction, a friend has gone there with her van. It's very close and humid. I have been cutting back overgrown shrubs around our front windows, found a blackbirds nest.
The nest had some strange thin blue peices of plastic woven in, I tracked it too an old woven cover on our little boat, the cover is fraying and the blackbird must have carried it up for the nest. I also found white birch bark inside, aren't nests fascinating?!0 -
Cooled down a bit today here, still no rain ,its needed!!, went into town on the bus with OH for a bit of shopping, then a bit more work clearing debris from council owned hedge on our boundery ,another pile for them to clear, Eldest son coming tonight for
as he says catch up, before we are off again Tredeger House next Sunday if OH tests are clear0 -
Lookied out of our front window about an hour ago to watch the torrential rain and hailstones and saw an old lady struggling with a walking frame and loads of shopping on the other side of the road - looked very poorly so Mr H ran accross the road with his umbrella to see if he could help but couldn't move her. I then also went accross. She couldn't remember her name or where she lived. I knocked on a few doors but no-one seemd to know who she was. All she said was that she had a stroke recently which worried me. Added to that she was soaked through to the skin. As she was getting worse I called an ambulance which arrived within 5 minutes. The ambulance men was absolutely wonderful. They were so calm and reassuring with her. They looked through her bag and purse and found out her name. They then decided to take her into hospital to check her out. It turns out that she was in a taxi and as she couldn't remember where she lived so he just dropped her off . Hope she will be OK.

Agree with Brue, good that you spotted her. I know from first hand what a worry it can be with an elderly person, especially when they have problems. Good on the ambulance men/women hope they track some relatives down and she gets looked after.

Been to Pershore Plum Festival today lots of free entertainment, on all weekend so if anyone in the area it's worth a visit. Listened to a great band called Griff. Now in Upton, the Sunshine festival in full swing.

That could be very dangerous/expensive wherenext. I speak from experience!
We were glad to be able to help the lady. She mentioned a daughter so as the ambulance men had got her name hopefully they will be able to bring up her records in the hospital and trace her next of kin. Poor soul it must have been so frightening for her
to be struggling in the torrential rain and not be able to remember where she lived. Disgusted with the taxi driver.0 -
Called in on an elderly neighbour today as it was her 92nd. birthday. She's just driven off to her bridge game, picking up (in her words) an old lady en route (99) from the nursing home. They still win tournaments!
You've got to smile.

Hope the lady is ok Millie. Not impressed with the taxi driver!!!

There's no need to apologise TG, I didn't read anything critical in your post. All I was saying was that i don't think that I've ever had a caravan roof so dirty as it was after this trip. Thanks
