Fine and dry day at home, and quite warm this afternoon, so we were able to get a bit of weeding done and I started to hoover out the van. Soon gave up though as I was feeling rather stiff and not in the mood really. Will continue tomorrow, all being well.

    Well done, Millie.

I remember the time some years ago, that my late Grandma wandered off from the home that she was staying in. Major panic!

She turned up several hours later. She had walked about 4 or 5 miles on a hot day. She was over 80 years old. Eventually she knocked on the door of a house at random and asked for a glass of water. By pure chance, the lady at the house recognised her. The
lady's mother had been a friend of my Grandma!

All's well that ends well......on that occasion. But dementia / Alzheimer's is a dreadful thing.

Lookied out of our front window about an hour ago to watch the torrential rain and hailstones and saw an old lady struggling with a walking frame and loads of shopping on the other side of the road - looked very poorly so Mr H ran accross the road with his
umbrella to see if he could help but couldn't move her.  I then also went accross.  She couldn't remember her name or where she lived.  I knocked on a few doors but no-one seemd to know who she was.  All she said was that she had a stroke recently which worried
me. Added to that she was soaked through to the skin. As she was getting worse I called an ambulance which arrived within 5 minutes.  The ambulance men was absolutely wonderful.  They were so calm and reassuring with her. They looked through her bag and purse
and found out her name.  They then decided to take her into hospital to check her out.  It turns out that she was in a taxi and as she couldn't remember where she lived so he just dropped her off
Surprised. Hope she will be OK.

..Well done Millie, pity it will be almost impossible to trace taxi driver, unless local paper or radio station can make it public

Have been out this morning for a coffee and cake at NT Montacute House, quite busy even though it was early. Heard there will be some filming for a "low budget" film in the Autumn, wonder what that will be? Seems to be a popular venue for films and TV, low
budget apparently means everything will still be open to the public.

Before packing away the final bit of my scaffold tower, I have been up on it cleaning the caravan roof....it was really dirty!

Having stopped for a quick coffee, I'm off back out to clean the sides etc and cut back the neighbour's trees.

years we've been looking after it for him, now its 'Naw load of rubbish bin it' Yell oh well kids who'd have Em. Another trip to the skip tomorrow.
With only 3 more days to go I suppose its time to start getting the van sorted out for going away.

Called in on an elderly neighbour today as it was her 92nd. birthday. She's just driven off to her bridge game, picking up (in her words) an old lady en route (99) from the nursing home. They still win tournaments!

    You've got to smile.Smile

    Wonderful Happy

...in a similar vein...we have a very elderly lady opposite us, and i generally look out a bit for her when her children arent around....

i was out washing the car and i heard someone quietly calling my name...it didnt really register at first but then i realised it was my neighbour.....calling for help...

i ran over and she said she really needed my help.....i as,ed her if she was ok, which she was, so i said id just keep OH in the loop and for her to check on is if i wasnt back reasonavly quickly....

so, back across the road, i guided here (and walking frame) back into the lounge, got her sat down in 'her' armchair and asked her what it was i could help with....

she looked me straight in the eue and said, 'can you get any sound out of this bl**dy telly?!'Happy

i was obviously thankful that she was OK, and wondered why she was having trouble....i used the remote and the little slider on the screen went up.....and down.....but it took me several minutes to spot the little 'headphones' symbol ......

o thrn found the cable running from the back of the tv, along the floor, all the way up her armchar, onto the armrest about six inches from where she had been sat.....

had to tell her again which button to press and where her headphones 'had got to.....'Happy

we both had to laugh.....all to come for us, no doubt.....

mentioned our pal's son and the air ambulance in another thread...where they had to leave in a hurry this morning...

it seems (somehow) he got crushed by a falling tree (or large bough) and has broken his pelvis and has had (so far) 16 units of blood, cant find source of internal bleed....

awaiting next update, hoping its going to be a positive one...

Middle daughter finally took all her artwork and school "things" two weeks ago, we've been lugging them around for over twenty years. There's even a box of fluffy toys that our three somehow think we want to keep!

Its amazing that - my daughter, graduated, now aged 50, still thinks we want to keep her Uni material. When ever I suggest a bonfire she is most indignant but somehow cannot quite get round to storing it at her house.  'Plus ca change'

I don't think it's all strange. I've still got all my OU books etc from when I took my degree nearly 30 yrs ago. Never know when I'll need them!!

We got all our youngest son's uni stuff down from the loft some months ago. He still seems to think we want to keep it here for some reason . He lives in N.Ireland now so not easy to dispatch it to him. However our daughter and SIL went over to stay with
him and his family a few weeks ago and as they were taking their car we sent 2 boxes over with themLaughing! Only 4 more boxes left.Surprised

Another decent day weather wise, can't believe it's a Bank Holiday. Stayed off the roads though by continuing with the cleaning of the inside of the caravan. Only the furniture to polish now, so hopefully I'll be finished tomorrow.

I graduated in 1967, had all my notes till a couple of years back, then realised that now I am retired I really do not need them!

One cupboard now available for more interesting things.

All the important stuff is still in my head, and if not, then I can Google it.

Wouldn't mind but he got rid of 2 boxes and gave us 4 bigger boxes. Like Brue's daughter it was an art course so lots of drawing books, paintings, reference books, plus all his A level art work from school, big portfolio case and a box full of oil paints,
pens, pencils etc.another box of his 'treasures' shouldn't moan really they have just about got rid of all their house and belongings with this move to Malta, when they come back I hope they will have lots of money cause they are going to have to buy everything
    all over again.

    Great photo Goldie.

We (I) are going to spend sometime tidying up the back garden and taking stuff to the tip (it is open).  I just don't know where we get the rubbish from to have to visit the tip so often!

Just tried to book a CL for a night before our trip to France mid September. We spotted it while down in Kent earlier this year and it looked very nice.

Fully booked - darn it! Sad

Might have to resort to the dreaded BHF again (how come ferry pitches are no cheaper than the bigger ordinary pitches?)
