Instead of walking from the site we went over to Croome Park. Tried to follow one of the way marked trails but somehow lost the markers, so ended up walking back to the Park anlong the road. Lunch in the car then down to the house, where more has been added
since our last visit, including a "spectacular" set of modern tapestries. Ended the afternoon with a walk round the lake and gardens. Great place for a day out. Perhaps we'll go walking from the CL tomorrow!

We didn't get time to visit Croome Park  hoping to get there over the BH weekend, glad you enjoyed it. We often start out on a walk following markers and end up taking a rather different route back. Embarassed

Well worth visiting the house. The Tapestries are definitely something else. Certainly won't appeal to all. Would post a photo but CT's rubbish when trying to do this.

Walked fromthe site into Pershore and then along the River Avon on the Pershore Bridges walk to Tyddesley Wood. OH got stung by a wasp on the ankle, but fortunately we had some Piriton with us so the effects weren't too bad but it's still aching at the moment. Back through the town to Asda for a loaf and a pack of choc ices, 2 of which we ate sat by the river.Laughing Went out for a short ride before dinner and then wandered up to one of the village's pubs for a pint this evening. Couldn't resist a visit to the "Piesse of Piddle"!!Happy

Another wet day here....rain off and on all day.....as per forecast.  Sounds like tomorrow could also be wet.

OH finished her tax refund form, so should get a nice cheque in a few weeks.  Then she went out shopping while I did a bit of tidying in my room.  It's a long and very slow process as there are many distractions.

Feeling exhausted after all the moving over the last few days. Still we had excellent weather for tent camping but we're glad to get back to our caravan today.

I don't envy you all that moving, putting up and taking down tent and awning, just for a couple of days. Sounds like hard work.Frown

Write your comments here...It is a huge amount of work. We wish we were allowed to leave the awning up for the two days away.

It's getting hotter too, so we've just put the side windows in and left the front open to let some cool air circulate. The weather is fine here at the moment so we plan to leave the front open until the next rainfall.

We no longer use the side annexes as it's not worth all the work just for 21 nights.

We had the car serviced through the Misubishi dealer on the Old Shoreham Road. They let us have a courtesy car and by 14:45 it was ready at a much more reasonable cost this time.

Cold here at Chalon-en-Champagne first thing this morning, but beginning to warm up a bit now.  Lovely croissants and bagette from the bakery at the top of the road.

Tammygirl and DavidK: I did do some investigation about the toilet blocks.  They seem to have a bit of a 'superficial' lick.  The basic infrastructure appears to be the same as ever.  They've done things like put new partition walls in between the loos,
but they still generally look a bit old and dated from the outside.

We could very well go to a different site in future.  The whole place is looking very tired if I compare it with what it was years ago.  Some potholes in the road near to the reception and it looks like the hardstandings could do with a bit of a weed.

We tend to use it as a stop over - on the way or on the way back.  We tend to 'use our own facilities' here, especially as we can usually get a hardstanding with water hook up.  That would be fine if we hadn't lost our tap connector somewhere along the line
    this last 7 weeks.  Laughing

As predicted, another wet and miserable day here, even worse than yesterday, more like late October than mid August.
    Sad

I expect I will have to do some more tidying now!

I'm supposed to be making a Game Terrine and an Egg and Bacon Pie (plus other yet to be decided stuff) to help feed visitors over the weekend. I'll mostly be catering for nne; so I had better get a move on instead of frittering away my time on here.

Egg & Bacon Pie - sounds great - MOH is a veggie.

Do you take internet orders Goldie, or only take aways?

Goldie's busy now I hope?!  Wink...My cuilinary efforts today will be zilch, having a day off from everything and then checking what I'll be putting
in a flower show tomorrow. Not looking good just now, the weather has been a bit too dry for veg and flowers. Lucky people on holiday down here, the forecast is warm and sunny.

We're rather a long way from Kent, There will be some veggie options of the very spicy variety.

Bacon and Egg pie postponed till tomorrow. Sausagemeat, tomato and apple pie done - it's best left overnight.

Game Terrine (first attempt and harming no recipes) now cooling (weighted down by assorted big weights from when my  inlaws stood the market on Saturdays).

Supper tonight? We're going out to a locali posh pub.

Then when we get back I'll put an enormous ham in the Aga bottom oven to cook overnight.

I hardly dare mention this, but we are having a long weekend at York Rowntree. Still, 4 nights for only £31.50 (I'm using the Moulesy school of finance (and some site vouchers) method here Wink).

    Another hot and sunny day.

Lovely day today, very warm and sunny. Dog isn't as lame today, which is good, only a gentle walk still though.

Heard from youngest son, he has had his contract at work made permanent and had a pay rise, lucky him, Smile at least he feels that his job is
    more secure now.

Been really busy at work this week so looking forward to a quiet weekend. Although OH wants to go and check out a few caravans, Surprised just
started thinking that we need a bigger shower!

Another dreek day here, morning wasn't to bad but by lunchtime it was definitely dreek.

Went into town with big sis intending to do some serious damage to the plastic (to cheer us up) but alas only managed a pair of jeans Frown must
    try harder next time Laughing

Heating now back on again for an hour or so, the house feels so chilly, I agree Kj its more like October than August, kids go back to school next week so the weather should get better then Wink

Left Wyre Piddle just about 11:30 and arrived at The Old Orchard CL near Droitwich at 12:00. This is a new CL and looks like a real find. Super views to the Abberley Hills and plenty of walks round the farm's fields. It's been sunny and would have been very
hot apart from a strong wind which kept the temperature down. Wind's died down now but the clouds are buildingup, so I guess I'll not be seeing the meteorite shower tonight.

York not as busy as expected H&T......will probably get busier tomorrow though.

Finally collected a shirt that I ordered at Rohan shop about a month ago, in their sale. Was £39, reduced to £29 and I had a £10 voucher (for writing a story for their web site) so down to £19........not bad for one of their shirts - they last forever and
    don't need ironing Laughing
