Don't you just love this forum? I have to admit, I haven't been a consistent contributor and I'm still in two minds about it. It's easy to see how some people amass lots of coloured stars judging by their frequency of comment on this thread alone. It's interesting
to see that some people have entrenched views that are unlikely to change and mainly fit in the "I'm alright Jack" category but that others are more philosophical and open to new ideas.Despite all it's twists and turns, it's blind alleys and strange changes of direction, I detect that the main issue is really one that's caused by the random queuing system which is perceived as unfair.
In a bank, or similar, they employ 'snake' systems for queues where everyone is in the same queue and, once served, would re-enter the queue at the back If they returned (unlikely, I know). What if, for example, having waited
in this kind of queue, the cashier called out people randomly? There would be consternation at the very least! Some people would be served multiple times but some would never be served. And yet, this is exactly what the CC system does. Surely, it would be possible to develop a fair online booking system, assuming they want to continue with this kind of launch event?
it will be interesting to see the CC's response.

Dont know why people get so uptight about the booking format. It is what it is. I have just been on this morning and booked 5 sites that i wanted For next year in the space of abour 5 minutes. They all include weekends and are all popular sites, including
ones for Xmas and new year.If the ones i would prefer had gone then i would simply look elswhere, the CC is not the Be all and End all of Sites providers.
However I still have to agree its a silly system that allows individual members to block book weekends, But at least everyone gets the same opportunity to queue for bookings.lol
Conclusion;- No system will please all but
it isn't the end of the world as some people seem to think it isWrite your comments here... depends where you need to go and who you may be visiting. Personally I visit family when booking Christmas and New Year so my options are limited, either I can book a site which is less than 5 miles from where they live or the
alternative is over 25 miles away. In my case both sites were fully booked for the festive 2017 period already by 9am on 7th December so cannot now go to either of them. The next nearest CC site is almost 75 miles from where they live.so why would I want to
do that when I live approx 85 miles from them in the first place! The point people are making is that the system only works for the minority and not the majority and there should be a fairier system. Only those who managed to get in and book what they wanted
will be happy while the rest miss out. Yes I can book private/commercial sites and look for other alternatives but then whats the point of belonging to a club which can't cater for your needs and it's not money saving anymore!0 -

Except that's not actually how it works which may have led to your misunderstanding. The CC queuing system doesn't send people to the back of the queue - it randomly selects them which causes the issue of some people not getting on and others being able
to make multiple bookings.0 -
I beleive it needs a complete overhaul. I'm not in favour of deposits although it wouldn't bother me if they were introduced. A queue is a queue, however, and the CC don't operate a queue - it's just random. Both me and my wife logged in before 8am yesterday as we wanted one particular site for a number of dates. It took over an hour to make six bookings but I never once was able to book. We both kept clicking and it let her in everytime but not me!
I'm not saying there's a right or wrong way but I believe you should not be able to log in until 8am then it should be a queue strictly adhered to. When you've made one booking you should be logged out to enable you to log back in and join the queue.again in turn.
Alternatively or additionally, restrict members to a particular number of nights that you can book on booking day to give other members a chance . I also beleive that it is unfair to people who work so a Saturday or Sunday would be preferable. Luckily I had a day off yesterday not that it mattered as my wife was "chosen" and she did all the bookings.

I’ll be glad when the kerfuffle about booking day has died down and we can get back to the serious forum business of alphabetical lists.

Enjoy it, it is a seasonal diversion !
Once the spring arrives we will be back to time of arrival, time of departure, sunday departures, speed on sites, d*gs & kids.....

Ha. I like that.
But just think about it. If it really was a queue, why do some people manage to make multiple bookings at one site (like you), yet others can't get on? Ask the CC to confirm and they will.

Write your comments here...Some will be down to infrastructure e.g. broad band speed, others had issues with Chrome as they did not have the latest version installed and for those who got lots of bookings on the day perhaps they know how to use the system to their advantage

to their advantageYou just don't get it, do you? Yes, there will be some of each of the things you mention. But that doesn't explain all of the issues. I'd rather see a system that is fair to all than one that I can exploit to my personal benefit.

Seems fair system to me
I can only assume you haven't read, or understood, my post, then.
Ohh but I have and do not consider the system to be intrinsically unfair
I suppose if you're happy with the lotto aspect of the system, then you could be convinced it is fair. Personally, I think that aspect could be improved, but each to his own.

Write your comments here...With 300,000 + CC members , yes some people will be disappointed on booking day .
Limited weekend pitch availability at the most popular sites is hardly going to enable everyone to fill their 2017 wish list.
It's life I'm afraid , no member as any advantage over others , the odds of getting everything you want site/dates/days are purely chance on booking day , until the system is changed.
My advice is keep checking the sites you didn't get , because people do cancel......good luck

I am totally happy with the lotto aspect. Chance is fair as far as I am concerned.
Write your comments here...Agree totally , we have a list of choices , but always have alternative sites if unsuccessful .
Dates aren't an issue now that I've retired , we can & do use mid week bookings certainly for our 3 local peak district sites , Sunday to Thursday .
Weekends are only with full weeks , Sunday to Sunday be it 7 nights or 14

We would not generally hitch up for a 5 day break. We prefer to travel further afield within UK. For us the minimum is probably just over 30 nights with 6 seperate 5 night breaks
.The exception for us being December where we have a couple of weeks at one location

The mid week frenzy day booking system favours those who are retired with time to hunch over their computers. Those who are are out of the house soon after 7am to go to work are the ones who are at a disadvantage. And yet they are the ones who need the weekend bookings which are hard to get.
