No disrepect to the retired folk on here but when we have a weekend away well over half the units seem to be full of old folk! Yet it's the retired people that say they never go away at weekends.

Write your comments here...thats impossible cos I seem to see them all in ASDA (other supermarkets are available) blocking the aisles and genrally getting in the way Sticking Tongue Out

The mid week frenzy day booking system favours those who are retired with time to hunch over their computers. Those who are are out of the house soon after 7am to go to work are the ones who are at a disadvantage. And yet they are the ones who need the weekend bookings which are hard to get.

Write your comments here... I'm afraid weekends at the most popular sites are hard to get for all members , retired people used to work as well ........... & be CC members

...How many sites have "all" the w/ends full? even Baltic Wharf has w/ends available most months

Whatever system is used, there are always going to be people that are unsatisified, thats the way of life. We all have different needs, requirements, lifestyles and ideas, you can not have a system that pleases all the members all of the time.

I managed to book two sites that I wanted to make sure of, OK, I had to wait a bit before I could get in to the booking system, but I knew that I would get on eventually. It can not be a system tailor made to each individual and patience should be involved.
I think the booking system that the club provides is excellent, but you can not please all the members all the time.

..Strange as it may seem, those who are retired, holiday as well.  --- Someone on a four week holiday will most likely be on a CC site for a possible four weekends. Multiply that by the number of retired people who are customers of the CC and go on holiday with their van in the UK and it's inevitable that retired people will be on site somewhere.  Many retirees enjoy a few months holiday every year. -- Why not---- they have worked hard all their lives for the privelege.

    Cheers....................K

    Ha. I like that.

But just think about it. If it really was a queue, why do some people manage to make multiple bookings at one site (like you), yet others can't get on? Ask the CC to confirm and they will.

Write your comments here...Some will be down to infrastructure e.g. broad band speed, others had issues with Chrome as they did not have the latest version installed and for those who got lots of bookings on the day perhaps they know how to use the system
    to their advantage Winking

You just don't get it, do you? Yes, there will be some of each of the things you mention. But that doesn't explain all of the issues. I'd rather see a system that is fair to all than one that I can exploit to my personal benefit.

Write your comments here...but it is fair to all, we all all have the same chance of getting the dates/sites we want, what is unfair?  As for personal benefit you obviously want to change it for your personal benefit dont you?

Ah! That was below the belt and totally unnecessary.

if you read my posts carefully, you'll see that I have no axe to grind. I am simply empathising with those who did have a problem (which I didn't) and suggesting a solution.

Yes, some people are quite happy with the lotto aspect (normally those who got what they want) but others aren't. If I were the CC, I'd be trying to make sure no-one was unhappy. But, then again, maybe that's impossible.

Thanks for playing everyone. I hope you've all had fun. Don't forget to mark your diaries for 6 December next year when you can all play again. In the interests of expediency, next year there will be no posts on the forum regarding this subject. This year's
posts will be recycled to save members time.

Don't you just love this forum? I have to admit, I haven't been a consistent contributor and I'm still in two minds about it. It's easy to see how some people amass lots of coloured stars judging by their frequency of comment on this thread alone. It's interesting
to see that some people have entrenched views that are unlikely to change and mainly fit in the "I'm alright Jack" category but that others are more philosophical and open to new ideas.

Despite all it's twists and turns, it's blind alleys and strange changes of direction, I detect that the main issue is really one that's caused by the random queuing system which is perceived as unfair.

In a bank, or similar, they employ 'snake' systems for queues where everyone is in the same queue and, once served, would re-enter the queue at the back If they returned (unlikely, I know). What if, for example, having waited
in this kind of queue, the cashier called out people randomly? There would be consternation at the very least! Some people would be served multiple times but some would never be served.

And yet, this is exactly what the CC system does. Surely, it would be possible to develop a fair online booking system, assuming they want to continue with this kind of launch event?

it will be interesting to see the CC's response.

Write your comments here...but dont the CC ahve a queueing system, you get in make a booking then get kicked to the back of the queue, whats the problem??

Write your comments here...that's funny I was asked do you wish to another booking no back of the queue for me

It would be interesting to find out how many members and how many nights have been booked. I recall these numbers were released in the past and were a tiny percentage. As for us, we expect to be away for around 100 nights in 2017, nights booked so far...
    zero.  Innocent

Just had a quick look at a few sites, my impression is "B" day bookings are down on previous years?

    Seems fair system to me

I can only assume you haven't read, or understood, my post, then.

Ohh but I have and do not consider the system to be intrinsically unfair

I suppose if you're happy with the lotto aspect of the system, then you could be convinced it is fair. Personally, I think that aspect could be improved, but each to his own.

Strange but on the rare occasions I play the lottery, I thought I had as much chance as anyone else with the same number of tickets / inputs.

I've stumbled into and am flabbergasted by the ridiculous hysterical panic in this thread. Maybe someone can enlighten me as to why the CC create the 'Black Friday' effect for pitch shoppers by having an 'opening day' for bookings. Surely it would solve
the problem if booking was a continuous and rolling process all year when one could book at any time and without a deadline?

You must be reading a different thread to me. I've seen a lot of happy people, a few philosophical folk and some sour grapes, but not a lot of hysterical panic. However, as to a rolling period, this is still going to result in individual weekends at the
honeypots and popular weeks on others being released at a particular time. It will therefore still favour those of us who can sit by the button, and is unlikely to stop the moans of those who fail to get what they want.

No, I read many posts referring to continuous (and it seemed, panic) clicking and the celebratory cries of relief when someone managed to make a booking.

<<However, as to a rolling period, this is still going to result in individual weekends at the honeypots and popular weeks on others being released at a particular time.>>

I do not understand why booking isn't permanently open and on a rolling basis in which case no sites/pitches would need to be
    'released' at any time.

If it is on a rolling basis, say a year, you still have a date where specific days become available to book. So for those intent on going to those sites on those days, there will still be the incentive to sit on the button as they are released. All you end
up with is lots of mini  frenzy days for the honeypots.
