No apology needed T1. I just don't get the outpouring of perceived injustice. As you say-"tiny tiny percentage" are using CT & of that there is a tiny percentage within that tiny tiny percentage vocal in their annoyance at the way things are. I'm talking
of actual rules not fantasy of ifs & buts & maybes. It works, it also works well for most folkSmile

Write your comments here...Rules eh. If we all followed all the rules, instead of picking the ones that suited, what would we talk about.

I made a single booking at 0930 ish just to see how the system was working. I can always cancel it if I don't take it up.

    peedee

Write your comments here...how did you get away with this comment!

What's 'to get away with' in complying with the rules of the booking system? The system allows bookings that are able to be cancelled without any form of penalty up to 72 hours in advance, 3 times within 72 hours and you get an e-mail.

Write your comments here...The word selfish comes to mind here. Peedee states that the booking was made only to see how the systemwas working. This may prevent a fellow member from having a holiday that they actually intended to take.

I don't doubt for a second there are selfish people who play the roolz for their sole benefit. Bit like the arrive at a certain time rule that I've seen members race past the queued people before time waiting pateintly outside the site in a position not
causing congestion to other road users, run into the office to book in, run back to the car and drive off with the passenger door open and the old lady hanging on for grim death to get the 'best' pitch.

Unfortunately roolz often lead to behaviours not predicted by the writers of those roolz. My perception of the CC is roolz for roolz sake and as such behaviours are driven in some by those roolz. The facility to then abuse or bend those roolz is open season.
It's called human nature apparently. I do wonder if other roolz heavy leisure organisations see the same behaviours. I've not seen the above checking in behaviour before going to a CC site Tongue Out

....but this is the whole issue with the 'no strings' laissez faire booking system that CC employs...we make no real binding commitment....certainly not like booking a criuse or package holiday, where the stakes are higher, the commitment more serious and
    the insurance more necessary....

i usually play the long game, genuinely firm up dates as the year progresses, then decide you want to go somewhere popular and.....what happens.....absolutely no chance.

i knew i wanted to visit one specific site at some time but cant commit at this point as to when that might be, my unstructured life doesnt work like that....

so, ill pick and abitrary date and book it.....i can use it if i want to.

BTW, this is not my normal process, i dont usually book anything till a week or two before we are going....we could be doing anything which stops us being in a specific place at a specific time.....however, i did want to try this particular site and will
'almost certainly' take up the booking.....unless....

the thing is, the club actively promotes a 'feeding trough' approach with its high profile advertising and 'main release' process which will inevitibly cause the popular sites to het booked early on...

so, just for fun, i joined the fray, got a site, now it depends on circumstances regarding take up.

I would have thought one of the main benefits of the CC is the no deposit and ability to cancel without penalty

Perhaps that "benefit" should be reviewed as it makes it too easy to overbook sites on the off-chance that one may wish to use them.

Along with the pleasant membership, the general standard of sites and the number of sites and the simple booking etc ...........

The fact that it is apparently going to take over three days to migrate the data to the new system does not fill me with confidence.

If it's taking over three days, it suggests to me that it isn't very well built.

Write your comments here...I think it depends, tjhey be re-organising the database or having to pump the data in which all takes time given the amount there must be both on the public site and internally.  They have to reconcile everything out which may
be a manual task in some places.

Where does it say its goiong to take 3 days anyway?

I would think it's quite a big change to make, especially with the data and security protection.

It does if it comes with a decent search facility. Otherwise they are just taking up gigabytes of server space and serving no real value.

Might be a good idea not to migrate any data such as threads and posts from this forum to the new one  ------and start with a perfectly clean forum.

Do we really want all those moaning threads and posts transferred to the new system. ?

    Cheers.......................KCool
