So its the same as both of the Major players of sites provision, that an upgrade is being rolled out across their sites ,but as they have about thirty compared to the 300+ of the two clubs ,
they should in some peoples eyes be "better" soonertrue, and the completed ones are better value far more often
...For us who can use them at those times

"i also agree with you regarding the pitch condition, again we were there in a lovely dry period and had no problems, but damp conditions might well have been an issue."
There you are, BB. Different conditions made your experience better than ours. Those pitches should not have been in use this week. If I could post pics on this forum you'd be able to see for yourself.
I said the site might suit some people and I'm pleased you were happy even though you're not likely to return.
cheers, Tw, i tried to be objective, despite being a fan their push to provide an additional service for all of us 'vanners'.
it seems odd that you found thenpitches to be so bad as its been unusually dry here, perhaps lots of wear at the end of a full, hard season perhaps?
either way, good to have the report
The wardens (nice people) said they'd had a lot of rain. Who knows?

Reinforced grass is worse than grass if it's not been laid properly. Chippings for me every time
If I'd arrived at Lakeland to find reinforced grass we would probably not have lasted long. The euro pitches at Lakeland are very good indeed. The standard pitches on the other hand were not so good. Very waterlogged but falling short of a sea of mud.
Sorry your stay wasn't good Tinny but a very useful report.

Thanks for that, Dave.
The top pic shows the pitch adjacent to ours. It's designed for use by a van with the door on the offside and you can see how tight the slab is to the hedge.
The bottom pic is of our pitch. Sorry it's a bit dark. You can see the 4 wheels only just fit on the slab. We later put wedges under the back wheels because the slab sloped backwards.
As for the reinforced 'grass'.......

Tinny, if that is a pitch for a M/home is yours a big beast?, it's only just big enough for your LV, good bit of driving to get it on there Mucker

Ours is only a modest size, Rocky, it's 6.4m. I reckon the slab was around 4m x 2.5m. It did take a fair bit of shuffling to get it in place and there'd have been no chance if the nearby pitches were in use. It was a cul-de-sac and the road was only around 2.5m wide.

Well put, Husky.

Am I the only one who has had to be towed off a CC site pitch?
the few times you use a club site and you have to be towed off , lifes not fair
Give the doggie his due, that was quite a good one
If this is a point scoring competition give him 5
I am here you know

agreed, TW, that isnt good enough....for space and condition...
perhaps a £2m refurb imminent....
It's truly appalling. I'd be demanding a refund if I'd paid full price.
I don't know about imminent but a refurb is surely needed.
I'm now waiting for the survey asking if I enjoyed my holiday at Haven

Touring is a such a tiny part of the overall business I wondered why they bothered at all.
Then I realised that they are possibly hoping you'll enjoy the experience so much you won't be able to resist trading in your tourer for a static. Posters were on prominent display throughout Lakeland and lovely though the reception staff were they did encourage
us to visit the coffee morning - conveniently located in the sales area which was conveniently located near to the touring area and the SparIt was a cheap few days away for us. I wouldn't rule it out in the future but I probably wouldn't rush back either. I may try the Portmadog one but my nearest is Talacre and it's not high on my list of places to visit

Offered to post 'Tinwheelers' photos of the Haven site, and accepted by him.
To spend a day there deserves praise
I think we deserve an award.

Yes, and now we know not to do it again.
