Maybe this was the type of EHU where pushing the button causes the plug to rotate and disconnects the supply. I've left ours plugged in many a time but have pushed the button so the lead is not live.
Have W&J considered this or simply chosen to complain on a forum by suggesting MH-ers are all the same?
I suspect you are spot on with your explanation TW. This action has the added advantage of ensuring that a new arrival does not plug into your chosen socket, as I have found that not all sites number the socket
to match the pitch.Write your comments here...the plugs at Seacroft do not have rotation on them hence always live. Seems some people have no concerns over the safty of members on site.
In that case W&J, I am not too big to hold my hand up and say it was a dangerous thing to do.
I admit that I may have jumped to conclusions but now you have jumped to the conclusion that I have no concerns for the safety of members.

You have to admit W&J that, in view of your posting history, your reputation does you no favours. However, assuming this event is as you represent it, why did you not explain to your neighbours face to face the error off their ways fof the said of the children
and others? It would have been so simple.Write your comments here...not keen on getting hit in this volitile world, not my job, Wardens get paid to ensure safety
It depends how polite you are when you address people. I'd have thought the safety of the children would be paramount. So you spoke to the wardens instead, did you?

Tinners......he's already said that the wardens saw it and ignored it.......<sigh>.......
No, Ian, he/they said -
"The real big concern is that the Wardens must have passed the pitch at least 5 times each day but clearly did not want to get involved or even do a responsible job of advising the motorhome owner."
You are assuming they saw it but none of us know if they diD and that wouldn't be reason not to raise it with the wardens.
Now you may retract your very irksome and rude sigh.

Does the end of the cable that plugs into the van not have a spring loaded cover......ours certainly does. If you pull out the plug the cover snaps over covering the connections. Can't really see that leaving the cable is any more dangerous than an extension
lead at home or indeed any outdoor wiring!Write your comments here...water still gets in and kids just love to find out what the spring cover is hiding, please get real.
No water does not get in......it's not a waterproof cover but protects from rain or splashing! There are a 101 things kids could fiddle with that are potentially dangerous. If a child is young enough not to understand what is dangerous it begs the question
why would they be out and about unsupervised on a site?0 -
So in averting a potential accident, as the OP believes; they actually created another potential accident by tripping on a cable left on the ground, instead of tidying it away.
Accident statistics clearly show the incidence of slips, trips and falls; to be far higher than electrocutions.
By their lack of understanding of risk, they stupidly put others at higher risk. Further, than failing to take action, they attempt to pass on blame to others. Fundamentally we are all responsible for our own safety and that of others, by our actions, or
in this case inactions. The OP demonstrates behaviours so typical these days of total selfishness, ought to be ashamed of themselves. Awful people

Just out of interest & not bothered who does what or not(as it were) if it truly is a dangerous practice this EHU lead discarding practice, why don't the CC & others place a sign attached to the EHU post warning of the dangers of discarding the cable?

Good point and even more to the point why don't the C&CC, none of whose bollards have the twist to connect mechanism have signs to that effect? Or any of the commercial sites I've stayed on? Or any CLs? Surely the must all be opening themselves up to potential
litigation?0 -
Shouldn't this have been titled "Will this particular motorhomer never learn?"
By using their chosen title the couple imply that all motorhomers are at fault or incapable of learning.
Is this prejudice or merely semantic?
Neither, it's just the rather unfortunate manner this poster generally uses.

I took it as prejudice, as could be just as much a caravan at fault. We unplug ours from caravan if we go out for day, at bollard end of course. Don't expect Wardens to nanny us totally on holiday either. Not that we notice much going off on sites, too busy
having a good time!0 -

Oh really Tinners......they passed the pitch at least 5 times and still didn't notice a bright orange cable left on the pitch and plugged into the mains post three feet above the ground (despite being responsible for safety on site). Did they go past with their eyes closed?
Your love of all things CC is blinding you to the obvious, I'm afraid.
<double sigh>

In theory, Rocky, the bollard should trip out before any harm could be done to someone handling a live connection. The biggest danger could be said to come from a puddle forming around a live plug left lying on the ground. Club sites have the bollards tested
regularly which should ensure their safety and the risks are minimal.0 -

Your sarcasm is again getting the better of you, Ian, and is in second place only to your over active imagination. Get your facts right.

The ever-increasing desperation in your replies confirms to me that my statements are correct. Or are you saying that cables aren't usually bright orange?

Steady on Ian, that knee of yours is getting all jerky again!
"The wardens must have passed it 5 times a day" is an assumption isn't it, not a statement of fact!
(I'm assuming the OP wasn't sat on site, clipboard in hand?)
.And If? that was the case and the OP was to nervouse? to give a friendly bit of advise to who may have been new to this "hobby" they did not mention it to the lax? warden on one of the possible 5 times of passing as they seem to be watching

Are you so desperate to have an argument that you need to turn to the colour of cables? Have you no substance to your thoughts these days?

..But they would have warm drinks in the fridge

Tinners - Would you care to tell me which "fact" I got wrong then, oh wise one?
Or was it simply that any suggestion of criticism of the beloved CC just automatically prompts you to throw your toys out of the pram and start an almighty sulk?

Write your comments here...They don't need to put signs up. The CC is not a nanny state. Members are supposed to be responsible adults. As the warning about this practice is already printed in the CC handbook, all people need to do, is RFM.
