Caravan and Camping Club change in arrival times
News has just reached me that the other Club are changing arrival times on sites. Arrival times will be 1pm instead of 12 midday.

Noticed that on their site earlier today.

There is also a significant change in the latest arrival time which has moved from 11pm to 8pm
Yes, but I think there is flexibility on Fridays - the day they expect the biggest 'intake'. Without going back to the press release, I can't remember if there are any more specific details about Fridays.

There will be provision on Fridays for members arriving shortly after 8pm. Delays should be reported to site managers etc.
The Facebook group is showing a similar level of unhappiness as they did to flexible pricing and the introduction of the shoulder season

Do you still have to leave by midday? Did they give any explanation?

Thanks David. Funnily enough we stayed at the Hertford site last year and were arriving just after midday and there was still a stream of leavers coming the other way along a narrow approach road so for that site it would make sense.
Perhaps this will enliven their forum which seems to be a bit moribund of late!!!

11am !!! That woud be pushing it. When I holiday I want to get up after 10am.

I think it would be better to keep arrivals at 12 but move departures to 11. No one allowed on before 12 (even if they ring the wardens, unless it is a truly one off emergency) and everyone who is leaving off by 11 or pay for another night. That way it is
fair and clear for everyone.0 -

. . . or everyone off for 6pm and no arrivals before 7pm. Equally fair and clear, so it is.

Is this going to go the same way as the Sunday Departure Time postings?

As one who would prefer 11am to 12pm earliest arrival I only hope that CC do not follow
Plus 1. We hate sitting around in the morning either at home or away on site waiting to go so we don't arrive too early. Equally when it is time to go home we want to get on our way and are usually packed and off by 9.30am.

Us too. We always try and get to the site just after the 12:00 arrival time, and so leave sites before that time. An 11:00 latest departure would cause the occasional problem as we often don't move that many miles to a follow-on site and so would be arriving
well before 12:00.0 -
I think a later arrival is fine if you are travelling some distance but many of us might only travel 50 or so miles to get to a site. This means a delayed departure from home and certainly at the weekend the earlier you can leave the less likely neighbours visitors are to arrive to block the road with parked cars!!!
As with most things announced by both Clubs I always get the impression that there is more that is unsaid rather than what is communicated!!! How do you get a hardstanding pitch ready? Wardens seems perfectly adept at mowing round an outfit on a pitch. I suspect its more to do with an decrease in working hours because of the new NMW?

So very true. We live in a culdesac off a lane and 8am on a Saturday is fine, anything later and it gets very tight. If we are only going an hours drive a 9am arrival would be great - happy to pay for the previous night so we could do this, but sadly its
not offered as an option.0 -

The change to 1 O’clock arrivals and 12 O’clock departures seems a sensible move. It negates the noon madness, if you think it exists, where people are leaving as late as possible while others are arriving as early as possible.
Changing the times to something a lot further away from lunchtime will not help the majority of site users. Some posters have said a much earlier arrival time would suit their circumstances whilst others want a later departure time, so no matter what some
people will not be happy. Most people want to get on site as early as they can, just as a lot of people want to leave as late as possible. Like most things in life a sensible compromise has to be made, and as is the way of compromises, some people don’t get their preference. Having
the change over time around mid-day is probably the best all round solution.0 -

Agree with your thoughts on working hours.
They just seem to have moved the goalposts by one hour so that will just move the congestion back one hour.Have never seen any pitch prepartion other than a quick cut. have never seen many vans arriving after 8pm causing a disturbance. Have only ever seen
two vans in the overnight holding area. So what does "arriving just after 8pm" mean, 15 mins, 30mins, 1 hour. Thereby hangs a possible reason. Up to one hour after normal closing perhaps, this will be accommodated in working hours by giving the team of wardens
and extra hour break at 1pm. After all they will be very tired after all the extra preparation for new comers. There is nothing in this change other than it makes life easier in some hidden way for the powers that be,
