The same Club, just better...

Mine came in today, Phil. Maybe the Snail Mail is heading your way soon.

And I thought we were going to get a response to the questions that have been asked of HO. Wrong again I see.

I think that Harvey Alexander is suffering from delusions of adequacy. He needs to get out with the members when he takes his caravan on a rally?????? and then he could get proper feedback on his scheme

Not wanting to ruin a good moaning session but, it has just struck me re the costs.. everyone is including the cost of replacement of uniforms in the assumed immense costs. BUT, I would have thought that new uniforms are distributed (probably if the are required or not) when the sites open each year. That's about to happen so instead of sending old style ones they send new style ones - no additional cost.
This, of course, still leaves the cost of replacement of uniforms for the wardens at the sites open all year around. To be honest I do not think wardens uniforms actually cost an arm and a leg. They sure are not designer. So I am guessing that this will amount to a huge amount.

Is this a joke comment or serious?🤔

If the caravan club have still got merchandise with the proper logo(not this new rubbish that a lot of members think looks like walls ice cream logo). then can we the members buy the mugs ,old stickers, key rings etc, etc,....for a hugely reduced price, I personally would rather pay for old Deleted User stock than be given anything with the new logo. Like the vast majority of the other members I wont be using the stickers on my van.

Seeing as the board are so out of touch with the members and the general uneasiness that the average club member feels that there is no democratic process for agreeing change as big as this. and bearing in mind that there is an a,g,m coming , could we start proposing and seconding individuals who are willing to take on the challenge of running the club in a more democratic and less authoritarian way. I am sure that there are plenty of long "service" members as well as dynamic thinking people who are regular caravaners that understand the shortcomings of the club at present. The wider the variety of candidates the better. there must be a good cross section of members who are well able to run the club in a proper and transparent manner

Well, that fell flat on it's face didn't it? Mysteriously, my new profile photo proudly showing my 25 year Caravan Club Membership sticker somehow changed itself back to my old photo. Is this yet another glitch with the website or was it censorship? Perhaps RochelleCC would like to comment?

A reckon it is a Glitch John. This website has more glitches than you can shake a stick at. I thought of changing my avatar a while back (probably for Christmas). I decided that the way this site shaped I might end up faceless and so did not bother.

In a word. No.
Only Full Members can vote at an AGM. To be a Full Member (which is different to a Club Member, like most of us are) you have to apply to the Club and be approved by the Directors.
Full Members are the Guarantors of the company in that they agree to give an undertaking should the company be wound down. In return, the Full Members are given voting rights at the AGM and at Special General Meetings
I have no idea how many Full Members there are in the Club, but I would hazard a guess that the proposal for the change of name and rebrand of the Club was put to a General Meeting and voted for by the Directors and Full Members and was subsequently carried.

Hardly as we don't have voting rights

This is often the case in Clubs or Societies such as this, think Golf Club protocol.
So, in truth we are customers are we not?

Hi
Why have we copied the Walls Ice Cream Logo.
l don't have an issue with the name change but the logo which must have cost a fortune looks like the Walls ice cream logo, has anyone spoken to Walls.
This reminds me of the BT logo fiasco which cost £m.
And on a more important note as a club we should have been consulted or is this the start finally of the big sell off.1 -
Why have we copied the Walls Ice Cream Logo
or is it Dolly Partons chest?
is this the start finally of the big sell off
Must admit, this crossed my mind, knowing what happened to the RAC in 1999. I'm sure it's not the case though... I think

I suspected the big sell off was on the cards last year when at least three sites in the ownership of the club were promoted to planning authorities for redevelopment for housing.
It was clear from the documentation submitted that consultants had been carrying out a major review of landholdings and had identified sites with development potential. Sites with development potential are close to settlements and my favourite sort of site.
It's probably why so much emphasis has been placed on the great outdoors. That's all that can be offered within the immediate area.

Disappointed to see that the CC sees fit to spend members fees on something that very few people like or think important. The CC has always had something of a reputation for being a bit 'snobby' (not particularly my opinion, but one I have come across several times) and I think this just reinforces that view. At a time when small sites with no facilities are being closed down for no apparent reason other than they're not the 'all-singing, all-dancing' sites that the CC committee, in their wisdom seem to prefer these days, the committee now see fit to spend untold money on something irrelevant. They don't seem to care about their members at all. Speaking for myself, I want to see the money spent on CC sites and more, not less, affordable sites with few facilities. It isn't going to happen of course because the 'powers that be' at the CC only seem to be concerned with their image. Have the large sites with 5-star facilities if you want, but not at the expense of closing sites that a lot of people enjoy! Or would you rather everyone spent their cash with the CCC instead?

As two thirds of the total membership is still made up of caravaners, It
would have been better if (the club) could have put provision on the web site to vote on this issue. What feedback, what consultation
what TOGETHER?????????

I very much doubt a Full Member would be expressing an opinion, for or against, on this forum.
I do think people continue to go ahead and post without reading posts that have been written prior. Either that or they don't quite understand what has been written.

Sadly I think the big site ethos was inferred in the financial reports last year plus a push to sell more holidays abroad.
Much of the small site enjoyment is part of the rally format, which some senior committee members take part in. Perhaps they are losing an awareness outside the rally community that there are also members who enjoy quieter and fewer facility sites.
It appears that "big" business has got a grip to the extent that Haven and other leisure groups lead the way.
Whether the club will really consult the membership or just rely on surveys which may or may not include members remains to be seen. Their lack of real commitment to CLs is also disappointing.
I presume they are heading towards "adventure" involving the sites rather than encouraging exploration off site.
I agree with comments about needing city sites, not everyone wants the great outdoors even if it's dumbed down to racing round site woods, boot camps, exercise and "barefoot" sensory experiences, sic. (an advert in the sites directory for a proposed new AS site.) Some of us like to get off site and look at our surroundings, in towns and the country. but we do like to return to a decent pitch in pleasant surroundings.
I am beginning to wonder what the great outdoors means to the club?

plus a push to sell more holidays abroad
Perhaps the club are considering tapping into the trendy 'Marigold' theme with a new site being planned on the outskirts of Bangalore. Who knows?
Either way, here's my take. Couldn't care less about the rebrand, I can take or leave the new logo. Don't care about who owns the Club in the future. As long as there are sites available close to where I want to be that is ultimately what matters. I think a pragmatic approach is the way forward, because as lowly subscribers, we can't really change the direction. We just have to hope the powers that be, get it right.
The way the Club is managed going forward will either add to it's growth and desirability, or will bring about it's downfall. Only time will tell.
Let's just all enjoy our holidays

Have to agree, it's a done deal, no amount of huffing and puffing will change things, even if parts of the method leave a sour taste in the mouth.
In all honesty, I just don't care enough for it to make any difference to me. I pay my fee, that allows me access to the CLs and sites, I am canny enough to use the Great Days out vouchers to recover back that fee, and I plan my holidays and get on with them, using a mix of site providers. I think the vast majority of club members do exactly the same, and that is why it is so much a done deal when things like this happen.
The more underlying issues, site closures, appalling lack of support for CLs are of more concern to me than a name change and a new logo sticker. I think it will be this element that determines retaining members or not, certainly this one. We have never put our eggs in the one basket, always shopped around.
Incidently, most marketing surveys include a question about how likely someone is to recommend to friends and family.
