Brue - Lincolnshire may be classed as flat lands but the Wolds are beautiful. We're lucky enough to live about 20/30 mins drive from them so we can easily pop out to one of the vantage points and sit admiring the view. 😊

Sorry to hear about your type 2 diabetes husky. I presume you will be montored at your GP surgery. Our son had the same diagnosis some months ago and is now on a strict diet and has lost quite a lot of weight. I hope all goes well for you.

I hope you enjoy the New Forest Francis. We have driven through it many times on our way to other places but it is still on our 'to do' list for a stay.

I watched Gardeners World as well last night. Such a great programme. I loved hearing about the Coronation  Meadows. Thanks for the links.

Welcome to the Club Huskydog  frown.  I well remember the words of the Dietician who saw me when I was first put onto Insulin.  This lady, who could hide behind a vertical HB pencil, smiled and told me not to stint myself at Christmas { just a month or so away }  oh no she said, and meant, you can have A mince pie you know. sealedcry And that's a true story, honest M'Lud  embarassed.

Seriously T2 is a progressive illness with some tragic results unless you steel yourself right from the start to Obey The Rules.  A bit like the CaMC really but your Mods now will be physical entities, not just words and Avatars.  I do hope they have caught you early & you have a chance to avoid those oft publicised problems. Best of Luck Mate  wink

    Something different now !!

I wonder if our Old Friend Tigerfish will be watching T.V. tomorrow ?

The film about Violette Szab "Carve Her Name With Pride" is being shewn again, and I know she is one of his, and my, 'Heroines'.

Technically I believe she was placed as a Lieutenant in the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry  but was selected & trained straight from Civvy Street to be an asset for the Special Operations Executive  in support of the French Resistance.

I suppose a confirmed diagnosis does rather hit home. If it can be controlled by diet all the better. Once you go down the medication route there is often no way out. Margaret has been Type 2 for years, never overweight but she does have a sweet tooth! Diabetes seems to have run in her family as aunties and two brothers had it as well. I am sure the diabetic nurse will be a source of good information for you. Margaret calls hers scary Mary!!!!

Gosh HD, you are having a bit of a roller coaster ride at the moment!😲 Very best wishes for your Mum and OH, and hope the shop sale happens this time. Coincidentally, I came across some great looking cook books for helping with Type 2 Diabetes this evening, written by none other than Captain Poldark himself, Robin Ellis. He was diagnosed some time ago, and decided to do some research about controlling things via diet. Worked for him, recipes sound delicious, and if you like cooking, sound quite easy. We are making more of our own sauces for meals nowadays, as we are very wary of the salt and sugar content in bought sauces. Hope to try a nice low cal veg curry one in next few days.😁

Fantastic Winter at the Great Yorkshire Goldie, you must be so proud!👍

Do hope you can overcome the type2 diagnosis Husky by altering what you eat, wise words from others on here, so good luck.

ABM I read the Violet Szabo poem at my Mum's funeral last year, I stumbled a bit at the end as it's quite an emotional poem to read.

Well on a more cheerful note  I'm off to Argos click and collect today. more Lego for Grandson's birthday. This box contains an astronaut, appropriate for this week's moon landing anniversary which I've been watching on TV. I see there is a new thread about it on here somewhere.

Enjoy the day one and all. smile

Sorry to read of your diagnosis. A friend was in a similar position a few years back - his doctors are very pleased with him now.

I agree with your sentiments but sometimes it's isn't easy 😉 but basically if life throws you lemons make lemonade! I'm a bit off the taste at the moment 😂😂.

We seem to have had a little of the moist stuff overnight,  in fact for a second night - nothing useful mind you, wilting plants are still wilting!

Not got going yet, well can decide on what to do really  - so many choices, none exciting, ironing - probably been hanging around as long as Tammygirl's 😂, damp pruning and deadheading, find  somewhere to go out, nothing appeals. There's plenty of sport on but nothing grabbing me or OH.

Did manage to coat the side gates yesterday and smart they look too. I need to do the front fence and the sheds but I fear the dampness has put pay to that.

Enjoy your day folks - whatever you do (or don't do 😉)

Off to see Mum this morning, OH going to get more wood surprised

Then I guess it will be back to work outdoors again, ironing still waiting but I'm trying my best to ignore it laughing

I can see blue sky with white clouds so looks like it might be another nice day.

    Enjoy your day folks.

Emptied the caravan fully this morning as it's going in on Thursday. Amazing how much stuff comes out of it. We did weigh the stuff that stays in permanently before we put it in when we got the caravan and we'll weigh it all again before it goes back.

Had to laugh as I did weigh the gas bottle that we used on our recent trip. It has 0.1kg of gas left in it! Now should I use it before getting a replacement?undecided

Everything in moderation.😊 I was diagnosed with type 2 and with a bit of lifestyle change, losing 2 & half stone I am now off meds and feeling good. Lots of help and advice out there for you to tap into. Don't go too drastic.

Visit to Mum not a good one, she is back in bed having trouble breathing, looks like another chest infection, she is very tired but won't give in and go to sleep. The care home called NHS 24 while I was there, so I got the opportunity to speak with a medic, GP coming out to see her sometime this afternoon to evaluate. Shame she was doing so well, sister went to see her on Wednesday and everyone was saying how well she was.

Back home now awaiting a call, work outside halted due to F1 about to start.laughing

Thought I’d share a few pics of our visit to Minterne House/gardens. Good value at £6 a head. There’s a nice terrace too for refreshments 🙂

Glad you managed a visit there Freddy, we used our Gardeners World two for one ticket so thought it was even better value, the tea terrace is nice isn't it, good views. smile

Sorry to hear about your Mum TammyG, hope the GP can help.

WN, we keep taking an old gas bottle with us that weighs next to nothing, it seems to be bottomless, surprising how long they last.

It’s a lovely sunny day here today. I got up early this morning and went a lovely 16 mike cycle through the forest along some lovely country lanes and through some nice little villages. Then in the afternoon we headed in to Christchurch for a walk around what a nice little town that’s our first ever visit but we are planning to go back later in the week. We then went to Sainsbury’s to stock up and got some lovely steaks that are now sizzling on the Cadac as I type lol. Hope everyone else has a nice day. Here’s hoping for a quick recovery for your mum TG.

I am disappointed with the men's final result but they both played so well. Such a great match. Down to the wire!! Kept swapping over to the cricket. Both sons very excited with the result. Missed the F1 completely.

    N. Ireland family arriving tomorrow with their dog. Our cats have been booked into the cattery as I dont think they would cope as they are 17 and like a quiet life.

We will go there Brue sounds good. It’s good to get recommendations from people who know the area. Think tomorrow we will be having a relaxing day as we left home on Thursday afternoon and have been up early morning so far every day.

Goldie have a great relaxing time. Incidently who said you can't book club sites on the spur of the moment? 😂😂😂

Milliehull enjoy the time with your son and family, plus the dog. Hope your cats enjoy their holiday too!

Like Goldie just done most of the routine stuff. Now chasing OH to be ready for walk into town to the bank - no dog so the walking impetus has to be shaken hard to wake! Wish I was like her and packing for a break - jealous? Moi?

Tammygirl hope the GP called on your mum and that things are being sorted.

HelenandTrevor I expect that four letter word, work, looms on the horizon for you today. Glad you enjoyed your Devon break.

    Enjoy your day folks 😀
