What are you all up to

The problem, Oneputt, is that there are many posters on here that advocate that it's better to stay in a house rather than a caravan and prefer to put their caravan to bed for the winter thereby starving the club of much needed revenue! More money for the club would mean an improved forum as well as other improved facilities. Am I right or wrong?

It's not looking good for flying out of Glasgow any time soon TG!
The airport is closed at the moment, we look over the Clyde towards it and there is a total white- out here right now. We had about 4-6 inches of snow overnight, and it started up again about 30 minutes ago, so things are getting worse.
No sign of any gritters or road clearing here, NW of the city, and there is no traffic moving out on the nearby main road. All schools are closed.
Forecast says it will be worse later, but if it does let up towards evening, I would travel then if you can, and camp out in the airport.
-4 degrees here right now, yet the sun has just broken through while the snow continues to fall.

It would also enable the club to buy up more sites and keep more sites open all year, as well as having the money to employ the necessary staff to fulfill all this.

Exactly. You asked for the forum to be improved and I've shown you in my comment how this could be achieved, Oneputt!

I do not think there are many who post on here who would put their leisure vehicle away for the winter,we certainly would not, if i was not in a temp incompacitated state, which if on a site instead of having everything including local shops in one place, would be a problem

Have your waste pipes thawed out now Malcolm?
I can tell you, if you were out in a caravan here right now, all your pipes would be well frozen up!
Can we agree to differ on the house v caravan matter?
You stay in a caravan as you have had a bad experience with houses in the past, those of us who have been fortunate to have steady jobs and paid off our mortgages prefer to stay in those houses and enjoy frequent holidays in our caravans.
You will never convince anyone here that they should sell up and move to their caravan full time.

Deleted User User, right now, I'm sitting in my relaxer in the awning with the sun coming through the front window. There's snow outside but inside my awning , it's like a greenhouse. I can assure you I feel as warm here in Brighton this way as I would on the Costa del Sol. So why spend money towing all that way when I can get the good life right here!
All you have to do, AD, is to choose a pitch and position where your awning is facing south. If you ask the warden here, he knows and will help you make the right choice. We listened to the wardens advice on this and we have not regretted it!

Conditions do seem to be patchy, apparently Inverness-Elgin area is clear while further west is bad.
Fife is bad.
Out in Gourock, Firth of Clyde, is clear while further east around Kilmacolm-Paisley and the airport area it is bad.
Red warning now issued for the whole of the central belt with advice not to travel.
Heavy snow falling here.

Another snowy picture from this morning. Our Grandson's small flock of Herdwicks.

The waste pipes are still frozen Kj but we are still getting water through taps because of the on board tank. We simply use a bowl in the sink and washroom basin to catch the waste water and pour it from the bowls into the waste water disposal facility provided by the site.

You misunderstand the point Malcolm.
Yes, you are paying on time, but you are carrying debt, so in the banks' eyes they may have a chance to make money off you. They will offer you increased limits or new cards to keep you on the hook.
Whereas those of us who only use credit cards as a convenient way of paying, always pay everything off each month, never use our overdraft facilities, are not going to make money for the banks as they will have no possibility of charging us interest. So they are not bothered to offer us additional cards.
It seems crazy to me, but that is how the banks operate!

Kj, The Meek family once did what everyone else here on this forum are advocating i.e. saddled themselves with a house and mortgage. They got rid of the house and the trapped way of life that went with it and embraced the freedom of the road with two young children. They as a whole family have had a happier life as a result of it. If they can do it, why can't yourself and others on here do so too?

No doubt continuing to enjoy the freedom of the road, JVB66 albeit financing it in a slightly different way than us i.e. sponsorship and writing books and articles that sell!

Malcolm, its not a case of folk 'can't do it', its more a case of folk 'don't want to do it'.
It doesn't matter how many times you keep going on about it, you have chosen that life because of bad experience in the past. The majority of us on here are not in that position, we have worked hard, saved and planned for the future.
It is a shame that you still don't seem to 'get it' that you are still making the same mistakes you made in the past. However please please give it up now and lets agree that you like your life and the rest of us like ours.
