What are you all up to

Had a lovely walk with the dog this morning, very cold,, canal frozen over with a light dusting of snow. Very quiet couldn't hear the motorway hum
even the birds were quiet, saving energy.
Started snowing, very fine flakes, which in the sunshine through the trees looked beautiful, almost shimmering, tried to take a photo but phone camera not up to it
Off to town this morning before work, hair cut and a bit of shopping.
Lovely to hear your news Bakers2, time flies , enjoy the rest of your time in NZ.
Safe travelling all those who have to over the next few days.

Some boy's I know are enjoying the snow

I try and get a picture later of the local Fox population who keep visiting my garden in the hope that the birds on the feeder may let their guard down.

I thought I would venture outside (at least onto the step) to take some snowy pictures, but a blast (maybe just a flurry) of snow in my face drove me back inside. Where I intend to stay!
But I had better get on and cook a hot dinner for the real workers.

JVB66, the fact is that I'm living in a much better area now where work is more easily available BECAUSE OF THE CARAVAN! At a much more affordable cost! The caravan and the CMC are setting me up for my older life! I'm semi-retired and the CMC is helping me to enjoy my semi-retirement by providing leisure holiday sites for me to stay on ALL YEAR round! So I don't need to be trapped in four walls with hefty bills to pay!
You could get a life too, if you did the same as me!

Ice going to be the main problem today.Looks bad out there. Have to venture down to town to take MIL for an appointment. Fingers (and everything else) crossed.
We are supposed to have a new radiator fitted today. Yet to arrive and engineer due this afternoon, so no heating on later. Thermals at the ready.
Stay safe folks.

I just can't understand school closures, for example, Lowestoft College closed yesterday so as a consequence the nursery was closed. This morning we have triple the amount of snow, temperature still -3, wind chill about -8 and they open the college and nursery thats just unfathomable.
As a boy we live about 6 miles from Ross on Wye, the headmaster Mr Wicks lived in Ross but run the school in Gorsley (before the M50 was opened). He never missed a day, his old Morris Minor never missed a beat on the very steep hills. The only heating in the school was one pot bellied stove. The toilets were outside with no heating or hot water. We walked to school 2.5 miles each way in our short trousers, wellies and balaclava's. Still they were happy days

It's a pity the Meek family don't post on here, WN. Their lifestyle is similar to mine. Whether or not the schools close doesn't affect them. They live in a mobile home and educate their children themselves and seem to have done an excellent job of it!
So maybe it's time to start listening to them and to me!

About 6-7 cm snow overnight, really light and fluffy so with the wind its blowing around. OH just gone out to clear the house paths now the sun has come out, very cold out there but looking pretty.
Next doors cat is sat on our lounge window sill inside the house, she has been coming and visiting twice a day for the last couple of weeks, she will wonder what's wrong when we are not here tomorrow morning. (forever hopeful)
Still not sure if we will make it to Glasgow tomorrow morning, the worst weather is supposed to be late afternoon today, fingers crossed they keep the roads open. Not sure what happens if we can't get through to the airport.
Many years ago 36 to be exact I got stranded in Scotland with 2 young children ( 6 mths and 3 years old) I'd come over from Germany for Christmas as OH was serving in NI for 6 mths.
The night before I was due to fly back to Germany from Edinburgh, we had over a foot of snow, every road was closed as was the Fourth road bridge. We called the airport but was told that as long as the flight leaves that day we would not be given another flight but would have to pay for one. It wasn't common practice then to have insurance for flights. I eventually left the following week, only one flight a week back then.
The next time 2 years later OH back in NI again I came home for Christmas with the boys, we got stuck on the overnight train going to London. This time I had decided to fly using air trooping with the RAF, at least that way if anything went wrong they would look after us.
Well it did go wrong, due to heavy snow all over Britain and we ended up spending Friday to Monday at RAF Hendon with hundreds of other forces families, who were stranded trying to get back to Germany after the Christmas holidays.
When it comes to winter flying I don't have a good history
oh well there is nothing we can do about it at the moment so best just to get on as if everything will be ok.

Putting aside the question of investment by the Club in this Forum which I tend to agree with you I find little else that I agree with. I think there is a tendency to look at this forum through rose coloured spectacles. To my mind the General Chat section is far more friendly now than it ever was in the "old days". As to the Forum in general my observation, based on belonging to about a dozen different caravanning/motorhoming forums is that Club Together is by far the most active of the conventional forums. Even UKCampsites is a shadow of its former self in terms of number of posts. The whole point of Club Together is to provide a place for members to ask questions and gather information about our hobby and on the lighter side to discuss other subjects within the rules. It's not about giving a platform to those that wish to those who wish to disrupt or those who try and discuss unsuitable subjects. Whilst the forum is far from perfect we do seem to run along quite well together which unfortunately was not always the case in your halcyon days.

In the bad winter of 63 we still had to go to school. I seem to remember we did shorter days but just had to wear extra clothes to keep warm. Again outside toilets with no heating. However, central heating at home in those days was unusual and the H&S culture was less developed.
That said it is a bit different these days. Often further to go to school, plus a lot more traffic on the roads. At our primary school in 63 everyone walked from the local area.

I seem to be seeing you in double, Tammygirl and that's not because I had a tipple too many!

Despite the weather conditions, I still managed my commute to work and did my 4 hour shift. My customers were very appreciative and thanked me for delivering hot food to them in such adverse weather conditions! So I did my bit towards keeping things going as normal!
One customer told me that they had tried other pizza delivery companies and found that Pizza Hut was better in that the food was delivered hotter. I explained that this is because Pizza Hut have special machines and pouches with hot plates inside that can keep the food piping hot whilst travelling in the car. Other companies I've worked for including Pizzarelli, dinner2go and Dominos don't have that facility. It requires a lot of investment by the company, as each pouch, that Pizza Hut use, for their delivery service, costs over £100. So I'm happy that I've landed myself a job with such a good company.

I find myself agreeing in part with both of you - TF and DK. The club does appear to starve CT of resources but many forums have lost their spark and CT is no exception although it has peaks and troughs.
The early days of this forum saw vitriolic attacks on other posters, racist, sexist and homophobic posts, and everything was in a big jumbled heap.
Somebody mentioned people being banned for breaking the T&Cs in the ‘good old days’ but nothing’s changed there. It still happens and you can spot who if you keep your eyes open.

What am i up to? looking at this email this morning, thought it might make a few smile on this thread. Enjoy
A 90 second video from a small country restaurant in France, which keeps its customers entertained while they are waiting for the main course.
See link below.
The French restaurant “Le Petit Chef (Little Chef)” came up with an original way to entertain guests while waiting for their order by using an overhead projector on the ceiling. The animation is on the table and your plate. There is a small chef who appears on your plate, ..watch what he does!
Bon Appetite’!!

The answer to that is simple TW. More people on here need to adopt my lifestyle by using club sites all the year round instead of sitting within the four walls of a house. Then the club would get the extra necessary revenue to improve things in a way that would benefit all of us. The solution is in your hands, so read my lips!

And that second paragraph TW, is why you don't , or won't find many site staff participating on here. I've mainly stuck with CT since the start, thick skin I guess, but at times as a warden more than willing to share info etc. I see no point in being baited, attacked or whatever you like to call it. The banter was good at times but as staff we're somewhat restricted by our social media policy, so I've never been able to "get the gloves off"
