Grand photos @Wherenext pleased to read that you have had a couple of interesting days away. Both you and @Takethedogalong have been fortunate with the weather as there are lots of flooding in North Cumbria and the upper Yorkshire Dales, with many rivers in spate.

II hope all those that have recently had hip operations are steadily improving.

@DSB pleased to hear Carol is gradually improving. I haven’t heard of panic attacks after an operation before but I expect things affect different people in different ways - glad that’s improving now. Maybe the medication didn’t help? I always refuse most of what they want to give me, and they are often quite insistent I need it! No I didn’t need it. You do sound very busy so take care of yourself too. I have been discharged by the hospital now after 9 and a bit weeks, all good now and I’m almost back to doing everything again, walking, housework, ironing, cooking!! Yay!?? I’m still getting OH to put on my right sock, just can’t quite get there yet.🤷🏻‍♀️🤣 We are having a few days away next week; not sure what we’ll be doing as, not unusual for us, the weather looks pretty grotty. Oh well, it’s a change of scenery if nothing else.

@DSB David sorry to hear about Carol's problem. Like @heddlo I have not heard of panic attacks but of course invasive surgery will impact on people differently. A couple of ladies on the same ward as Margaret actually passed out when they tried to get them out of bed for the first time, so we are all different. I am sure she will find that when confidence in walking becomes second nature again it will ease the concerns she has.

Hope things start to ease off for Carol now @DSB. I do know someone who had panic attacks after having a new knee some time ago. It did take a bit of time for her to get back to her normal self. Some panic attacks can be quite severe so its good to read that Carols seem to be lessening.

@nelliethehooker - you'd have been healthier carrying on touring by the sound of it - dog bite, hospital visits, dental problems. You're falling to bits being at home! Hope you get things sorted soon.

We were away before 9 this morning having slept the sleep of innocents (providing innocents have weak bladders).😁 Home in half an hour. Quick unpack in the rain, then a shower and off to get food whilst OH put the first lot of washing in. Teeming down with rain from early morning. Part of the garden that never floods is now pooling. I think we have this heavy rain for the rest of the day with strong winds to follow.

Nice to return to an email from the club offering me another free night for early next year,, up to 31st.March and a free one for the end of next year as well. We can normally find somewhere to go for 2 nights.

We have a severe rainstorm here as well, poured it down all day from early hours, and going to be same tomorrow I think. Meanwhile….hosepipe ban still in place, hey ho. A day at home for me, so dropped OH for a haircut, while I had to undertake emergency wool therapy🤭, got some wool for his jumper, popped to bike shop so OH could stare longingly at a Brompton🙄(you name it, he’s got it, Road, gravel, MTB, crossover, another road bike, another MTB, but pondering on a Brompton🤷‍♀️) then back home for lunch. We still have pounds of tomatoes here, from very green to very ripe, so tonight I am doing a fried green tomato recipe. There’s actually no oil or frying involved, they are oven roasted, hopefully going to be tasty. OH made loads of green tomato chutney, 2 different recipes yesterday, while I am slow roasting ripe ones for sandwiches. I don’t like fresh tomatoes, never eat rip them, but doing things with them makes them very more-ish.

Pleased to read that Carol is making good progress @DSB and that the panic attacks are lessening. @heddlo I am glad that you have been fully discharged by the hospital and that you are managing to do virtually all things at home now.

I suspect that whether or not being away has made much difference to the necessity of a dental visit @Wherenext but it is much easier getting it seen to here than trusting to Denplan to find a suitable practice close to where we might have been had we been away in the caravan. With the weather it is we are quite happy being at home at the moment, and we are not yet suffering from cabin fever with lots of appointments to keep us busy, including a visit to the hairdresser for OH this morning. We had missed the rain for most of the day, although it has been rather windy and cold, but rain has come in with a vengeance now, so another wet walk shortly! :((

Oh, @Takethedogalong - I haven't laughed so much in years. I'm going to save those somewhere and I think a few of my friends around the country will be getting an email soon. Absolutely brilliant😂 Thank you!

Hilarious, we are still laughing here. I think it’s part of working with the public, there are times when it’s very hard to keep a straight face. I had a member of staff complain to me because a toilet seat she sat on nipped her bum, luckily not badly. I told her to take her complaint to the then Pool Manager……………..who was her Mum🤣!

@DSB I'm pleased to hear that Carol is doing better and the panic attacks are lessening. Good news too about the blood pressure.

It is a big operation at the end of the day, and we are all different in how we deal/cope with it. There's the worrying before the operation and then the post-operative period, with the physio and efforts to get walking again; it all takes its toll. I think that, because the norm these days is to be discharged the day after the operation, it's almost considered a minor procedure, when IMHO it's far from that.

All the best for Carol's continued recovery.

@DavidKlyne Continued from my previous post, when I was interrupted........I hope things are getting better for Margaret where the lump on the wound is concerned, it must be frustrating; good to hear that despite that she appears to be making good progress.

@heddlo I'm pleased for you that you've been discharged from the hospital, another milestone! No excuses now not to do the cooking and cleaning 😉

@nelliethehooker This staying at home isn't good for your health! You'll have to get it all sorted out and go away again ASAP. Seriously, all the best for the biopsy when you have it done.

@Wherenext Great photos, it's a long time since we were in Port Sunlight, must go again soon. You had a good day on Thursday, the weather was great, unlike yesterday of course....

@Takethedogalong Those are great 🤣 hilarious! I worked on a reception desk in a hospital for a while and like you had to keep a straight face at times.

Carol's mum is especially grateful to get out and about. Thanks for sharing the council complaint list @Takethedogalong .... 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@InaD its still there but I don't think it is as angry looking as it was initially. I have persuaded Margaret to use an ice pack on it to see if that calms it down. She is not a fan of ice treatment but those with knee issues will probably be aware of the benefits?

Brilliant @Takethedogalong so humorous, thanks for sharing. How was the Blackadder play that you went to see?

@InaD hopefully there will be no more problems as I received a phone call early this afternoon from the Hospital Booking service to arrange my next appointment. They offered a date just before Xmas at Lancaster and another in the first week in January at our local hospital, which I decided to accepted. We can now get our trip planned, but won't book sites until we see what the weather forecast for December is likely to be.

It has been a drier and brighter day today so we had dry walks and I was able to get the kitchen ceiling painted. At least the delay with getting away has meant that I have been able to get some badly needed inside jobs done.

Storm Claudia has wrecked plenty of damage across much of England and Wales and I hope all have missed the worse of it. I see that a number of caravan sites have had to be evacuated because of flooding, including Rowantree Park and Naburn Locks at York and the C&CC's Keswick site. Fingers crossed that members have not been washed out.

@nelliethehooker the theatre was very funny, only our local rep, but they were very good. You can’t help but laugh at the Blackadder episodes.

Yes, York is flooded, as is our local station. We were hoping to go to York on Tuesday by train, so think we might have jinxed both places🤭 We dropped very lucky with our weekend last week. Think it’s finally stopped raining for the moment now, but forecast is for cold weather next week. I will be clearing space in greenhouse tomorrow to put my final plants away for Winter.

@Takethedogalong thanks for the giggles. I too used to work with the public, they certainly have their quirks!

An extremely wet day here Friday, not far short of 5 inches of rain in total. As my previously arranged plan of meeting a friend changed we took ourselves out to look at artificial fibre optic Christmas trees. Unsuccessful, but the credit card did get an outing 😉. We'll have another year with my late parents one, and see if we can sort 'the lean' - it fits nicely on our bay window cill.

After the dog walk yesterday, I set to and moved all the outdoor pots, among them still blooming fuchsias into the greenhouse. Some had been stood next to it a while ago but it was too warm for them to go in. They've all now had a good water 😉 i felt it was time as tge cold is coming. My sweetpeas have germinated and are 3 inches plus so the colder temperature's should check them.

Much cooler, a foretaste of what's forecast, today. Might have to look out my gloves. Water levels in the ditches have dropped today. Friday I saw water, about 2 foot from the top, in the balancing pond in the village. I've not seen more than a dribble in it since we arrived, so it must work in extreme rainfall. The dog found a large amount of fox poo and rejoined me covered down one side from head to tail 🤢🤢. Thank goodness for the outdoor dog shower.

It's a tech day here today 🫣. I have, hopefully successfully, swopped mobile providers keeping the same number. An email tells me it'll be completed on the 18th. 🤞 Next, very shortly, we are going to install our new TV. We've had it over a week, jolly good price with Tesco club card, but lacked the courage to install without son. A few hundred pound more at the local, very good, electrical store, would have included installation. It's been crazy of late for our son, and he's offered Wednesday evening. I'm sick of the box so we're going to bite the bullet very soon. I intend on marking leads and place they're attached on the old TV so if necessary we can reinstate the existing.

Tomorrow I'm off to our GP Practice for help with their online site. It particularly hates me 🤐. I got the computer to store login details and it still tells me it's incorrect 😡. So if you hear a loud scream fret not it'll be me.......

Good to read others news. Best wishes to those recovering. @nelliethehooker I thought we had great service from our GP, website excluded, and that's likely to be me!, but your NHS service is amazing - I'm sure you wouldn't be seen quicker if you paid. Hopefully all resolved satisfactorily very soon.

nice dry day here at last, but boy have the temperatures plummeted. We had a nice woodland walk this morning, home for lunch and I sorted out greenhouse and put my tender plants away, while OH has set up a brand new alarm system in house. Seems very good, just cameras to sort out now, then all up and covered.

Nice sunny winters day here today so I’ve been busy. Got the caravan cleaned inside and out it’s not been done properly since we came back from our main summer trip to Norfolk so it took quite a while then gave the car a clean as it was filthy. Hoping to get away nearer the end of the week in the van for a few nights just local but hoping the weather stays ok so we can go. After all that spent the rest of the afternoon watching the snooker.

Hope everyone else has had a nice weekend

You've been a bit remiss there @Francis not like you to delay the cleaning of your caravan for so long😉 Hope there is no snow up in area and you are able to get away next weekend.

Thanks @Bakers2 we are certainly fortunate with both our doctors practice and, so far, the way the hospital board has responded, fingers crossed that it continues thus. If they are able to carry out any required treatments at our local hospital we can walk there in under 10 mins so we have no problems with finding somewhere to park.

It has been a fine dry but cool day, and we have a clear sky tonight so expect to see frost on the ground in the morning. I complete the painting of our lounge today, just now think of what's next in the decoration scheme.

Third sunny day in a row here, but temperatures have been below zero recently.
DD and I were at a Christmas Craft Fair yesterday, sold a few items and took a few orders for additional seasonal items, so that was good. Not much profit once the table fee and material costs had been covered, but does at least make some space in cupboards at home! We have another one to go to in a couple of weeks.

OH is still suffering with a sore leg, in fact it is now 2 sore legs, so has managed to secure an appointment with our GP this afternoon. Hopefully she can get some clarity on the cause, and help with the pain, as it is seriously affecting her mobility.

@DSB I hope Carol is beginning to recover from her panic attacks. Many years ago I had an orthopaedic op and had panic attacks for a few days afterwards. I am not sure whether it was because I felt out of control or whether it was the effects of the anaesthetic but they soon wore off thankfully.

@Bakers2 I hope you got your new TV installed OK. We had to get someone to come and do it for us in the end, I have just realised that I hadn't answered your question about the 'cousin twins'. No it was another grand-daughter that recently passed her driving test. The 'cousin twins' will be 16 in January so a little while yet.

@Takethedogalong You gave me a good, and much needed, laugh. I too worked with the general public for most of my working life and can certainly relate to some of those! I worked for the NHS and one young girl came with her boyfriend to the ante natal clinic but didn't refer to him as her 'boyfriend' or her 'partner' but as her 'consort'!!

We have both had colds this past week. Mine wasn't too bad and is hopefully on it's way out but OH's as usual went onto his chest so a full blown chest infection and on antibiotics. I went to the pharmacy that is located next to our GP surgery on Saturday (luckily it is open on Saturday mornings) as he was having such terrible coughing fits and had a word with the pharmacist and she looked up his medications, as that is where our prescriptions are sent to, and suggested a cough syrup and pastilles that would be OK for him and luckily they seem to be working. Thankfully he seems quite a bit better today. Nothing interesting to report from me at the moment as we have been confined to barracks. I did spend some time last week trying to 'frost proof' the garden and put some of the tender plants that are in pots inside. It is extremely cold here today with a biting wind. I think winter has arrived.

Cold sunny days are ideal for us - spreading slurry before it rains again.

Meanwhile final preparations are going on for our Big Adventure. We’ve had several test runs through the pasteurising and bottling kit and we’re nearly confident we can take the next giant leap and deliver to the public.
This is not an advert, as people choose the milk that suits them, but just a link to who we are and what we do.

    https://www.strickleydairy.co.uk

In other news we had a good night out last week - Steve Knightley and his band. Different from Show of Hands but just as good. And he did include some familiar songs - such as Galway Farmer and Cousin Jack.

    Sounds good @Goldie146 .

Very cold bright day, but I've achieved stacks 😃 and I don't feel tired...... There was tge most amazing starry sky around 0430. No I didn't stay up......

Went to IT assist for GP website. Now sooooo much easier, reason I couldn't seem to do it, the 'button' is now at the bottom of the page, but you have scroll down at lot! Don't even need a login now 😃.

Came back and had a super walk over the fields with the dog. Home for lunch, prepared for me 😉. Off to GP for OH blood test, then headed to M&S Food hall to collect underwear order. Returned my walking boots, purchased in July, to Mountain Warehouse, nextdoor, as the top hook for the lace had come off. Brilliant service, no quibble. Not got my size in stock, ordered for next day delivery and 20% discount for aggravation and to cover postage. Then purchased a couple of bits plus inwash reproofer for waterproof clothing - half price 😀.

Then we went in Aldi for a smash and grab type food shop, I hadn't really checked the cupboards. Indoors got the washing in, nicely dried and smelt lovely. Just finished dinner.

I got a reminder from DVLA about my big birthday early next year. I could fill out the form or do online. Thursday evening, 12th, I did it online. Today I received my new licence. Amazing!

@milliehull no didn't get the TV sorted, ran out of courage and time - needed food! Shelved until son comes Wednesday. Marking the leads and connection place worked as I was able to reinstate original. I wasn't convinced one connector was same shape 🫣 and TVs huge!

I really must pay more attention to how things can be read ☺️. Fortunately it wasn't as you might have assumed. Why did I type underwear rather than clothes???

I hope your tweeking your MIL hearing aids produces results. The ones in our house might work better if they weren't kept in a drawer 🤐

Caravan service was completed, yesterday - but not all good news, I'm afraid. The damp test revealed a couple of small spots - both beneath windows where there was a 20% reading. The engineer wasn't too concerned but will come back and check again in three months time. It's possible that the window seals may need replacing. What I was impressed with, though - was his thoroughness. He must have taken at least 50 or 60 readings and noted down the precise reading - unlike ALV who simply scrawled 0-15% in random places around the chart. I am beginning to realise that perhaps, my previous confidence in ALV was misplaced, which is a bit disappointing to say the least.
