Takethedogalong sadly its called life. But yes little pleasures. You sound like you've have a very similar journey to me. Grateful we are still both here to celebrate, daily 😉. Some daysmore grateful than others 🤣.
Despite thinking about 45th celebrations, I'm counting no chickens.......

We certainly do need housing. And yes, decent planning meeting needs. Including infrastructure schools, community buildings, doctors, and dentists 🤣🤬. Sufficient hospital beds etc.....
Certainly those being put up might just meet the housing element. As to price, even the affordable, silly and of course the affordable us only buying a bit if the property and renting the rest - never been able to get my head around that....

Thought I might catch up on sleep that has eluded me these last few nights as various problems kept occurring during the day and we all know what happens when you wake up at 3am thinking of these things. BUT, I didn't, mainly because I got a phone call from my brother in France whilst he was waiting for the ambulance to take him into hospital late last night. Just the 10 minute wait so I was left with half a story.
Wasn't what he thought judging by email but it might be worse! It's very apt that it is pouring down at the moment.
We missed out on our 45th.this year. Had tentavily planned something but OH spent it tending to her mother, amongst other things. Not quite what she had in mind. All in a days work.

The NHS ones are improving all the time. My current ones are of the bluetooth variety and they seem to be replaced every 3 years. The next ones might allow instant translation of foreign languages!!
Regarding wax removal, most people around here believe it is no longer provided by the NHS but it is. You just have to ring the correct people to book an appointment.

Thank you, yes, we have learned just to chill. Hope your brother is ok. This weather hasn’t got us pining to be out in MH, very different from our wedding day. That was red hot and sunny, we had a tremendous thunderstorm in the evening that freshened everything up. 😁

Shared Ownership? Given that mortgages are based on an earning ratio it is often not possible for youngsters to meet the income requirement. Maybe it was a bit of a fiddle but if you are only getting a mortgage of say 30% of the value its easier to meet those requirements. As you earn more you can buy further shares. There are quite a few downsides as well. Going back to the eighties it was very popular in MK and helped thousands to get on the property owning ladder but that was when property prices were more realistic. Funnily enough Margaret's mum and dad purchased a McCarthy Stone retirement flat on a shared ownership basis but the difference being they didn't pay rent on the 20% they didn't own but when it was sold obviously McCarthy Stone took their share. Perhaps a model future Governments could consider but of course it would add to debt. It seems clear to me that many people are paying as much if not more in rent than they would in a mortgage so perhaps what is required are no deposit mortgages for first time buyers?

Wow, you're lucky! We've had strict instructions not to ring our surgery for advice or appointments.
Instead we have to fill in an online form describing our problem/symptoms and wait for someone to ring us to discuss it - 3 days later when Mrs M tried to use the system earlier this year. And, if you're unlucky (i.e. trying to do it after about 10am) the minute you try to fill in the form you get a message saying "sorry, we have filled our capacity for new enquiries today, please try again tomorrow!I did approach our MP about this, but since she's decided to jump ship for a safer constituency I don't expect to hear anything back.

We, well I anyway, had a busy day yesterday. We loaded up tables and chairs for the sale, were down at DD’s just after 10 to do some packaging of the baking, I had quick trip to Lidl and Morrisons for a couple of items, then picked up Nathan.
After a quick lunch we went to get set up at the designated point just inside the school gates, and await the arrival of the customers. The parents picking up children were good at queueing, but when the senior pupils came out at 3.45, things got a bit unruly!
However we sold almost everything, and later DD sold the rest to Mums who had been unable to make it in the afternoon, so £276 was raised. We were all pretty worn out afterwards, so an early night was needed.
Today OH has spent ages washing all the baking stuff we had no time for on Thursday evening, and getting the kitchen back to normal, we watched a bit of the trooping of the colour, and later I finally removed the broken wheel spat from the caravan in the hope I may get the new one fitted before we go on holiday.
Need to start thinking about clothes and packing soon.

The castle is not yet open but they are definitely getting it ready for access as there were quite a number of guys and gals working over on the island. We didn't venture beyond the Reservoir as it was such a wet day.

A rather mixed day with the weather, as it was raining when we got up and much of the time while we were packing up to leave the site. It was dry and sunny when we arrived at the THS, but we have had more rain and a very loud clap of thunder this afternoon. The rally is on a field adjacent to a new small commercial site, and I will post its details in the appropriate section tomorrow hopefully. Although the THS is run by a Scottish Motor Caravan Section there are only 3 out of 8 units on site that are M/Hs including the rally steward's. Grand mowed dog walk all round the rally field.

No, not on the day Nellie. We enjoyed our afternoon tea on the steam train last week, and will look at break once the weather picks up, most likely Northumberland area, so I can commute via trains. Have to see.

A couple of days relaxing at the caravan planned to break up the journey after our really lovely but a bit tiring holiday, and to get ready for going home as we know a busy time with booked appointments and planned work. Yesterday our Son phoned and asked if he, his wife and the 3 grown up grandkids + dog, could visit us here for Father’s Day. Lovely thought. I suggested going out but he said difficult with the pooch and Fathers Day so he asked if we could do a BBQ, so yesterday a dash to the supermarket and now about to prepare side dishes for the BBQ, so much for a relaxing weekend. But not moaning it will be lovely to see them all, just back to normal sooner than expected, please don’t let it rain, it has hammered down all night. I can pack and tidy up while OH watches the football tonight. 😁

Good day today up early and away across to Dunfermline in my classic Merc weather not great so couldn’t get the roof down but excellent show lots of great cars on display and a good museum on site. Not long home Merc washed dried and back in it’s garage until next time.

It didn’t rain, son and family came and we did a BBQ. Nice to see them all. A rather fraught, worrying day though as we got a phone call early this morning from our daughter to say that our poorly granddaughter had been rushed into hospital again on Saturday evening, all rather sudden and scary apparently. I’ve just spoken to her and she says she is ok, lots of medication pumped into her etc. They are keeping her in for the present to observe her. Her illness could have just given her a break for that day as it was her 20th birthday. She said that she’d had a nice day up until that moment, but that it wasn’t a good start to her 20s. Her younger sister, there is 11 months between them, was sitting with her when I spoke to them, trying to keep her spirits up. Very proud of them both. We are going home tomorrow to help out where we can.

See above. I did have to smile though. Apparently her cheeky little sister, 10, spoke to her on the phone today and asked that if she lit the candles on the birthday cake and sang happy birthday over the phone could she then have a piece of birthday cake! She was told in no uncertain terms by the birthday girl that she must wait as when out of hospital she still wanted the full on candles and singing by the family that she had missed out on due to being rushed away in the ambulance.

Another day of sunshine and rain. The morning was dry and we returned to The Crichton for a walk around the grounds. The gardens are always worth a visit and many of the trees were in full bloom. Those that particularly caught our eye were a Mountain Laurel and the white Chinese Dogwood (Cornus Kouga). After lunch and a bit of shopping we visited Lincluden Collegiate Church, a rather dilapidated ruin but interesting just the same. It rained during the afternoon but had cleared up nicely now.

Sorry to hear that your granddaughter has been taken into hospital again, Debs, and hope that she is soon back out again. What a way to spend a birthday!! Glad that the weather was good enough for you to enjoy a BBQ with your son and family. Have a safe drive back home.

Breakfasting with the sun streaming in through the patio doors. 'Admiring' my darling grandson's 'help'. He was standing at them and I asked what he'd seen in the garden. "Grandma I'm cleaning the door with my tongue" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm torn between cleaning it or just smiling at the memory. Now, if it had been his dad who'd done that years ago I'm certain my reaction wouldn't be the same

Had to chuckle about your grandson B2, it must be a boy thing as our little one does the same thing!!!
We had a lovely afternoon out yesterday visiting a local NGS garden that was open. It was high up in the Yorkshire Wolds and nowhere you would ever find by accident! It was so beautiful even after the torrential downpour we had just after arriving.

Hi Folks
I am thinking of staying at Rookesbury Park in Hampshire soon. My sister in law lives in Lee on the Solent and I was hoping to go to see her, either by bike or by bus, or perhaps both. The directory does not mention any bus stops to Farehem, being in the area but the online information mentions buses are available, but not how near to the site they are. If there is no bus stop that is within reasonable walking distance, I thought that I could perhaps cycle to Lee if I can find a route that is not too busy, or perhaps cycle to Farehem and leave the bike there if there is somewhere safe to leave it at the bus station, then catch the bus to Lee.
I know Rufs lives in Stubbington and wondered if he or anyone who has stayed at Rookesbuy Park has as any info which would assist me.

There are a couple of good bus services, according to Google Maps, (20 and 69) from Wickham to Fareham. You can walk from the site to Wickham via a path behind the far toilet block and then join the old railway line into Wickham itself. Not sure what happens at Fareham but as a quite large town there will be ongoing services towards the Portsmouth area. You could also get a taxi from the site to Wickham or push the boat out and go by taxi both ways as Lee on Solent is only about 10 miles from the site. Sites usually have information of taxi services in the information hut.
